Jamonera is a Spanish restaurant and bar located in the trendy Midtown Village section of center city. James Beard nominated Chef Marcie Turney’s menu will feature rustic, handcrafted regional fare such as: Banderillas of olives, boquerones and guindilla peppers; Crispy Calasparra Rice with heirloom pumpkin, chestnuts and La Quercia Acorn Edition jamon; Moorish Skewers of Lamb with spiced yogurt, mint and pickled chiles; and House-Cured Cecina with artichokes, fennel and amontillado sherry. Menu items will range in price from $4 to $20, spanning everything from small snacks to composed plates, all ideal for sharing. Seating at the bar is available for walk in seating.

"Excellent food. The eggplant fries were a special addition to the menu and were delicious.. perfectly cooked with a soft inside and slightly crunchy outside and a fantastic sauce. A rice dish also greatly impressed as did the octopus and a beat/goat cheese salad. The service was good and the ambiance is nice but the food is definitely the highlight. The bar scene is great here as well!"

"Rated one of philadelphia's 50 best restaurants for 2013, Jamomera won't disappoint. Only downside is that it is small, so feels a little cramped especially if more than 6-8 in your party. That being said, tapas were all uniformly excellent to outstanding. They do well with seafood and veggie dishes in particular. Must try their desserts, especially the sundae with sea salt caramel and pound cake."

"The best tapas I've had in Philadelphia, (Yes, I've been to Amada.) EVERYTHING was perfect! Exquisite little bites, with perfect, delicate sauces to accompany them. The sauce that accompanies the squash croquettes is gorgeous! The romesco is divine. We've been back twice since our first night, and can't wait to go back."

"Marcie Turney has done it again. Another Gem in a line of gems. Despite several stiff competitors including Amada and Tintos she has given Philadelphia another delicious and unique Spanish influenced choice. Every dish was fabulous, well prepared, presented and interesting mix of flavors. Only let down was the rubbery squid in the octopus dish. When one orders octopus, they want octopus, not squid. Nice selection of sherries as well as wines. We loved it, and hope this will be the first of many visits"

"Fabulous! The paella was wonderful and the other small plates were excellent! Our party of five shared 9 or 10 plates and a few desserts. No rush on our party although we had one of the few big tables. Quiet enough to catch up with good friends yet a great energetic vibe."

"Jamonera was a wonderful dining experience. The delicious, well-crafted food, the attentive and helpful service and the urban, store front atmosphere made the evening very pleasurable. Ordering just five items from among the small plates, salads, etc. gave my wife and I a great selection to share and savor. The specialty cocktails, wines, and vermouth complemented the food. Jamonera is a first class dining experience in concept and execution. Don't miss it!"

"The food and service were very good. The variety of the tapas plates was excellent. The tables are rather close together making the noise level energetic. However, make sure your reservations are not "accidentally" cancelled. My reservation was cancelled even though the restaurant called the day before to confirm and I later found out, through Open Table, that the reservation was cancelled earlier on the day we were to eat there. Not knowing this, we arrived a half hour early for the reservation and were told "we are not open yet". They did seat us when we returned at the given time, even though the reservation was not there, but they did find my name in their system."

"Great little place but it's VERY small and the tables are extremely close together and pretty small for the style of dining (lots of small plates). It was difficult to hear each other. The food was really good, we particularly enjoyed the octopus and fried goat cheese salad. It's worth another visit, the next time we're in Philly. Also within walking distance from our hotel."

"Great atmosphere and most of the food was good, but generally oversalted. Among the plates we had was the Spanish breakfast and Fava toasts which was a delicious combination but too salty. The potato skins were somewhat dry and oversalted. The dates were delicous, the grilled skirt steak was a bit rubbery. the service was satisfactory, but too pushy, in that the waitstaff came over several times to clear away plates that we were not done with yet. it seemed that they were in a hurry to get us out. There were three of us on a special occasion and we spent over $200. We wanted to take our time and enjoy the event. The waitstaff even cleared our water glasses while were still at the table."

"I have read about Jamonera for over a year and finally had the opportunity (and pleasure) of dining there last Sunday. The food capitalized on simple(and local) ingredients to achieve a very complex and flavorful meal. The tasting menu (served on Sundays) was a great introduction to the various menu items offered. My favorite was the flank steak, but I absolutely loved every small plate! I would definitely recommend Jamonera to anyone who likes small plates and a wide selection of tastes (including a great selection of vegetarian options)."

"Arrived on time for our reservation. Decided not to take advantage of the 10 tapas for $40 due to the fact that several tapas didn't pique our appetite. So my husband and I ordered 4 tapas to share and found this quite filling. For our liking, part of the tapas experience is to talk and enjoy each course along with our beverage of choice. For some reason we felt really rushed with the food coming out so quickly- one dish after another without a breather.

"The food is so delicious and innovative..had the same server as last fall (unfortunately I am forgetting her name!) and she is so personable and knowledgable about the menu items. She never has to go "ask the Chef" when asked to describe a dish or to define an ingredient that one may not recognize. Love this restaurant!"

"Delicious food, well presented. Tables are very close together and having a private conversation is impossible. Also wasn't pleased that I requested a champagne cocktail with elderflower and received a glass of champagne with elderflower...not what I expected from a good bartender. e patronize the restaurants on 13th street because we love the food and the small plates style of dining and will continue to return.."

"On March 7th, I met my friend at Jamonera's to celebrate my birthday. We had reservations for 7:15pm. The ambiance and food were excellent. The service from the waitress was wonderful until we were asked in a abrupt manner by the manager if we could leave our table because of other reservations that needed to be seated.. I have never in all of years of dining, experienced this situation. We were only there for about 2 hours and had just finished our desert. Our dining consisted of food and dessert (no alcohol). It was even more embarrassing when the couple next to us heard the comment from the manager and felt embarrassed for us. Several messages have been left for the owners but we have not received any response from either of the owners."
