Ici's open kitchen and eclectic decor create an inviting neighbourhood bistro experience. Our menu offers a unique reinterpretation of French cuisine we like to call, Cuisine Nouveau Classique.
We are proud to bring to you a wine list offering over 30 wines by the glass as well as an extensive bottle list from producers who are considered among the best in Canada and France.

ici is a welcoming 24 seat bistro with half of its seating arranged as comfortable, bar-style seating for 2. Due to our intimate size, our maximum party size is 4.

"Great food, ambience and service. Small seating space but that's what makes it special. We sat on high chairs facing the chef / kitchen and enjoyed it. The wait staff are genuine about providing good service. Had the trio of steak tartar. Highly recommend it."

"With the exception of the escargots, none of the dishes would I order again. Overall: the dishes almost all had a sweet flavour profile: apples, prunes, honey etc. It was disconcerting to have one note jar throughout the meal. The waitress assured me that the rose was dry - it was not. Finally, crucially, the bread basket was utterly disappointing. Soft baguettes with industrial oven prints. Really? The bread set the tone for a lacklustre meal.
For $250, the consistency of the meal and the taste of the food should have been more complete.
ICi is by no means a bad resto, but the reviews led me to believe I would be experiencing something special. And it just wasn't."

"Our second dining experience in Toronto was delightful. We love an out of the way find and ICI fit the bill. Small, quaint and quiet with a fresh, inventive menu and wonderful service. It was literally our best meal of a 5 day visit. We would certainly go back."

"We went here for our anniversary and asked for a tasting menu which Chef was more than happy to accomodate. All of the dishes were excellent though both our favorites was the scallops & drunken lobster. The scallops and lobster we probably the best cooked we've had to date. Highly recommended and we will be going back again."

"Everything was perfect. The Lobster bisque is the best I have ever had. Avocado tempura was really unique and yummy. I loved the braised beef in a beautiful rich sauce. Desserts were also amazing -- lemon tarte, and wow the chocolate souffle made to order! Cocktails and wine were really good. JP Challet was a lovely host. Cannot wait to return."

"Had one of the best tasting food experiences here. In terms of food, comparable to a Michelin star rated restaurant. Our party of four, enjoyed three appetizers, four mains and two desserts. The restaurant was most accommodating, as each dish was split and shared by the four of us. We thus enjoyed a tasting menu with all of our selections. Everything was fabulous, although our collective favorites were the steak tartar, lobster bisque and soufflé. Service was excellent and BYOB corkage of $25 allowed us to bring a great wine to enjoy. Ambiance and seating were adequate, somewhat sparse and uninspiring. A must try for any foodie."

"I relish the day that Jean-Pierre Chalet opened ICI Bistro in the Annex area of Toronto. It was my birthday night, it was a little difficult to get reservations, but well worth the challenge. Expect to spend more than the usual - every penny (or nickel in the new Canadian context) is worth it! Warmed with a cod amuse bouche - followed by a goat cheese, endivze salad with this a delicious quinoa - we had bouillabaise fish which was meaty - we indulged with the lamb and beef, both cooked to perfection. The "icing" on the meat was the velvet mashed potatoes. The wine was paired magically with the help of the waiting staff! I can't wait until our next encounter with JPC's ICI, and you shouldn't wait either!"

"I had heard about this restaurant from some friends and wanted to try it for a while, couldn't find a time that worked until this week. Decided to go try it by myself. They don't have a tasting menu, but when I asked about one, they said they could ask the chef to pick plates for me if I'd like. I was happy to not have to decide because everything on the menu looked great. I ended up tasting 5 things in total: tartare, foie gras, duck, lamb, and souffle. The food was great. The service was fantastic. The cost was reasonable. I would definitely come here again."

"First-rate overall, across the board. The menu is relatively limited, in the best way possible: it offers a wide range of dishes, but with just a couple of choices within each category. Any dish (save for the tartares) can be had either as appetizer or main. Above all, the food is excellent: it is creatively conceived, and every dish shows that the chef really knows what he is doing. Our only complaint is that the wine portions and prices are less than meets the eye for serving sizes below a full bottle. They offer a 3 oz and a 6 oz glass, with the 6 oz glass being more than fairly priced: it is exactly 1/4 the price of a full bottle. But the 6 oz serving was, alas, not 6 oz but a skimpy 4 or 5. When possible, choose bottles!"

"The chefs at ICI cook well -- very well. Everything has strongly defined flavors and textures. When it hits its peaks -- as in the braised short beef ribs -- bistro cuiseine approaches a Platonic ideal. There may be some glitches at the non-food level; but they hardly matter, not least because the staff is eager and friendly.

"Love the food. Its best to go 4 people, and share. We have done this twice, and allows a great sampling of the wonderful food. The wine parings are also excellent - in fact, its better to sample multiple three ounce glasses than to have a single bottle."

"At ICI you can find delicious, interesting food by an accomplished cook for a price that seems more than fair for what you get. The place is tiny,4 tables, some bar stools, with an open kitchen, the staff is attentive & friendly but not in your face. The food is really the main event. We ate amazingly well. All dishes are available in small or large sizes - meant to be either apps or mains, but allowing the small of stomach to taste more dishes. We ate croquettes: assorted yummy bits, then the foie gras "oreos". My Lobster Bisque was intensely flavored, rich but not cloying.The best dish was the Maigret of duck with a duck ravioli. The desserts were very special - made to order souffle and a perfect creme brulee."

"Bar none, the best French food and possibly one of the better dinners I've ever had in Toronto. Lobster Bisque is a must have, steak tartar was excellent however the one with the sharp cheese really is quite something. The seafood entrée with the scallop with crab and pear in the middle is literally one of the better entrées of my life.
Everything is so well put together and thought out. My wife and I shared 4 of the small sized entrée plates and were quite full. Wine list is nice but pricey, we brought our own bottle and they charge a $25 corkage fee, not too bad in comparison to the markup on some of the wines on the list.
All in our bill with tip was about $150"

"Lived up to its reputation. We asked if the chef could do cheese souffle for us - he make fabulous gryere / mushroom souffle. Felt like I was back in France - also loved the waitress from Marseilles. I don't think I can get any closer to France unless I catch the Air Canada 880...."

"This is my second time at Ici and I had excellent experience both times.
Because it is a small restaurant the service felt very personal and the right amount of attention was given us.
Loved the lobster bisque and the mushroom croquette! And the souffle was delightful.
The chef also gave us a sweet treat since we were celebrating my cousin's birhtday.
Will definitely keep coming back!"

"Maybe we set the bar too high. Food was rather disappointed for that kind of money. It was a celebration dinner my bf's bday, mentioned this upon booking and they did acknowledge when confirming my reservation the day before. Nothing happened, not even a candle on our soufflé. I had much better dining experience at the Franks Kitchen, Pangea, Your Truely......etc. I def won't return to this place nor I will recommend it to others."

"everything was great about this place, my only quibble and its totally a matter of personal preference is that for the price I would rather be at a place where there is more table seating. I don't mind informal and sitting at the bar, but then want the prices to be a little more moderate. But if you like fancy food and casual atmosphere, this place is great."

"The food at ICI is beyond compare. Although there are not many vegetarian options, there is always something to eat for vegetarians and Chef will put together various vegetarian options. The amuses bouches are incredible - carrot mousse this week. There is a new cocktail menu that sounds delicious as well as a great cheese menu. The desserts are simply the best in Toronto, perhaps anywhere."
