Restaurant AVA
Restaurant Ava is a contemporary American restaurant with a clean, straight forward approach to cuisine and an emphasis on local and American ingredients. We search out only the freshest, in season produce, as well as support small farms that raise pastured, grass fed animals. We are also dedicated to sustainable farming and seafood harvesting practices. By sourcing our products from nearby farms and artisans, we hope to strengthen our local community.

"My favorite restaurant in all of Dallas is actually in Rockwall. Chef Randall Copeland knows his food and we love eating here over and again. Chef Copeland has created a special dining experience in crafting his menus with incredible farm-to-table combinations that are hard to find in Dallas."

"Absolutely outstanding! We started with the spinach artichoke dip -- delicious, creamy with a zing. Next, we had the spinach/arugula salad. I've never had a deep-fried, poached egg before; unique and delicious! My wife had the chicken with mushroom risotto, melt-in-your mouth tender, wow. I had the beef tenderloin, one of the best three steak experiences I've ever had (and I've been in some of the best steakhouses to be found west of the Mississippi). Our server was delightful, present when needed but never intrusive. Atmosphere was excellent, enough music to keep our conversation private but quiet enough for a memorable date night.

"Overall we had a very enjoyable experience. We had four different entrees; trout, steak, chicken breast and pork chop. All agreed that the meat was cooked very well and to everyone's liking. The wine was very good. Service from Sean (sp?) was very good. Friendly and fun and very attentive. The common complaint at our table was the vegetables. The baby carrots were very good, but the fingerling potatoes were undercooked. My brussel sprouts were tough and chewy, while the spaghetti squash was , for lack of a better word "mushy." The rice and musrooms with the chicken breast had an "odd" flavor and were overcooked. The Caesar salads didn't taste fresh and crisp."

"Our waiter was outstanding! He was polite, frinedly, with a sense of humor. Also, he was professional. The restaurant had a chic look, upscale like in Dallas. I would go to the restaurant just to have a drink and cheese plate with a friend or for a special occassion (dinner date).

"The food was incredible and the dishes were creative. We dined with a $25 Restaurant.com gift card and were given a free appetizer and still dropped $45 dollars. For a family with 1 child and 1 on the way, this would only be a very special occasion due to the price. Again, excellent restaurant."

"AVA is excellent. It was our first time. We have to drive an hour to get there and we'll do it again. I recommend the 5 course sampler menu and the wine pairing that you can get separately. Also, ask for Sean. He's great - really knows the menu and wine!"

"Dinner was an epic fail on all fronts. Timing was off. It took over 15 minutes just to get drinks. Appetizers and entrees arrived at the same time. Oyster appetizer was over cooked and chewy. (We mentioned this to the waiter. Yes, we were still charged for them.)My wife's trout was unappealing to the eye, adorned only with a few parsley flakes. My shrimp and grits looked like they were just thrown on the plate with some lettuce tossed on top as a garnish. We waited a long time for the entrees. The salad we ordered never came; neither did the bread that they promised. The waiter was inattentive and I wasn’t able to order more wine with my entree. They ran out of side dishes and desserts. I got no response to the e-mail I sent them."

"This was my first visit to Restaurant Ava and my husband and I had a wonderful evening. The wine was great. Service very attentive and friendly. Food came out with great timing and was delicious. My only complaint is the calamari. It could've been crispier. It was a little bit bland and the squid a bit chewy. The aioli was lacking flavor but the chili sauce was great. My scallops were cooked to perfection. My husband's chicken fried steak was huge and yummy. Our dessert, even though we lacked room in our stomachs, was something we would've regretted missing. The s'more brownie with salted caramel ice cream. Delicious... We will definitely be back."

"This was our second visit to Ava, with many more visits to come, hopefully. I had scallops with dill & beet risotto and my wife had the beef tenderloin - both of which where excellent. Sauteed mushrooms were great. Smoked Gouda mac 'n cheese was only OK.
The chocolate s'more brownie is the best dessert we've ever eaten anywhere, but we are still trying to figure out how our waiter magically produced it from behind his back 2 seconds after we chose it. Lucky guess, maybe???
Only small complaint is that some of the tables are a little close to each other, but it's a pretty small place, so I guess they have to maximize what space they have.
Overall, great meal and unmatched service. Can't wait to return!"
