Morton's The Steakhouse - Houston - Downtown
Morton's The Steakhouse, the nation's premier steakhouse group, specializes in classic, hearty fare, serving generous portions of USDA prime aged beef, as well as fresh fish, lobster and chicken entrees. The menu features a variety of favorite cuts, including a 24 ounce porterhouse, which is the house specialty; a 16 ounce New York Strip and a 12 ounce double cut filet.
"Our party of 6 ate at Morton's Steakhouse prior to seeing a show at The Hobby Center. Our waiter (Tino) was extremely polite and knowledgeable of what worked w/ the wine list and specials. We ordered a jumbo shrimp cocktail, beefsteak tomato and caesar salads for appetizers (all were delicious). For the main course, we had the mixed grill (crabcake, shrimp) - it was superbly cooked and tasted amazing. One of us was a vegan and asked for a mixed vegetable plate with the finest brussel sprouts we've ever tasted. The rest had the NY strip, 2 filet mignons, and a cajun ribeye. Each plate was delicious. The 2 best parts of the meal were the sidedishes (bacon & onion mac & cheese is a showstopper) and the hot chocolate cake. I'd eat here again!"

"I brought my team to dine at Morton's on 5/7/2013 and the food and wait staff were excellent. Morton's was able to accommodate my party of 20 people with no problems and the service was excellent."

Review 3 for Morton's The Steakhouse - Houston - Downtown
"I now been several times since the Fratita group bought Morton's and unfortunately the interior redo says it all, a lot of glitz w/ out any substance. What used to be a classic is now more of a me too. Steaks are OK but don't seem to raise to the level they did, same with service, fine but not great. In a hyper compeititve steak house market this one is in the back of the pack. Maybe Vic and Anthony's gets the good stuff and Morton's the left overs............."

Review 4 for Morton's The Steakhouse - Houston - Downtown
"The food was not cooked as ordered, example steak was medium well not medium rare. The waiter was horrible, did not fill drinks, did not serve everyone the meals at the same time, mixed up the order.
This is the first time I have had such a poor experience at Morton's."

Review 5 for Morton's The Steakhouse - Houston - Downtown
"My husband and I used to go to Morton's in Addison, TX when we lived in the area. We are so disappointed in this Morton's. It seemed old and just tired and dated. The food was very expensive, which is expected if the experience goes with it, but nothing "wowed" us. The steak was good, but nothing spectacular. The bread was the funniest. It was terrible! The best part? Dessert. Their chocolate cake is very good and moist. I was happy to end on a good note because everything else didn't meet our expectations. We walked out of there with a bill of $230 (for two, with tip) and felt it wasn't worth it. Much better choices in Houston for what we paid!"

Review 6 for Morton's The Steakhouse - Houston - Downtown
"Nice ambience with a sleek modern feel. The food was excellent, as always. We dined for lunch on a weekday and all chose one of the lunch specials that include a wide variety of entrees, soup or salad, and dessert. The steak was excellent (as always) as was the stuffed shrimp. The lunch portions were surprisingly generous, in fact, they seemed as large as the portions served a la carte. I have also dined at Morton's for drinks and dinner on numerous occasions. Same great food, wine selection and ambience. We will definitely dine here again."

"Excellent food and wine list. Food perfectly cooked. The waiter was one of the best so far that I've been served by in Houston. Visit Morton's knowing that you will be paying more than you would for a regular night out....but it's worth it!"

"There on a Sunday night. They must have expected no business Inasmuch as they only had one waiter. My plan is to go back - I like Morton's - just won't find me there on a Sunday night!"

Review 9 for Morton's The Steakhouse - Houston - Downtown
"Actually, we dined at the Galleria area location. The service was fantastic, our waiter was very attentive. However, the filet I ordered was not tender at all, and overcooked. For this level of steakhouse, it shouldn't have happened. I didn't bring it to my waiter's attention, or I imagine they may have offered another. I just didn't want to have to wait any longer to eat."

Review 14 for Morton's The Steakhouse - Houston - Downtown
"Our only complaint was that it really takes too long in between courses when you are on a lunch break. We were just able to have soup and entree and had to take our dessert with us, as we had already been there 1 1/2 hours.
The waitress and waiters were very pleasant."

Review 16 for Morton's The Steakhouse - Houston - Downtown
"It was good and mostly what you would expect from dinning at Morton's. However, I believe if you are in Houston, the Galleria location is a better choice. Better service, better plate presentation, more vibrant and from my experience better service."

Review 21 for Morton's The Steakhouse - Houston - Downtown
"I've been to many Morton's before but this was my first in downtown Houston. I'll stick to the one at the Galleria. The atmosphere was too modern and too much light for a quality steakhouse. The restaurant was practically empty on this weeknight, but the service was good - not excellent as it should be. There was no presentation of food before the meal like other Morton's do (maybe they all cut it out)."

Review 24 for Morton's The Steakhouse - Houston - Downtown
"Dinner at Morton's Valentine's Day was a disaster. Spent over $350 and was MISERABLE, hated the food, and was only happy on the way out the door. For a restaurant that clearly aspires to fine dining to turn out such mediocre food is totally unacceptable. I will never, ever be back."

Review 25 for Morton's The Steakhouse - Houston - Downtown
"A nice downtown steak house. My filet was cooked perfectly and the bourbon sauce I chose to accompany it was a nice addition. The sour cream mashed potatoes were delicious and flavorful. The lobster bisque was good although it only had a single large piece of lobster in it. It would have been nice to have a little more. The cheese cake looks awesome but I got it to go and haven't eaten it yet. It was a Sunday evening so we sat in the bar and watched basketball. The service was so so. Kept running out of iced tea but it was a lazy Sunday evening so I'm not going to hold that against them too much. It's a pricey place but definitely on par with it's competition. Be prepared to spend around $100/person for a good meal."

"The restaurant was short handed. I have never been to a Morton's this bad. I had a party of 7 and the bill was over $700.00. I know the staff was working very hard, however the management should be aware that I will never go to the Houston location again."

Review 29 for Morton's The Steakhouse - Houston - Downtown
"Just a very nice, somewhat fancy, restaurant with a great menu. I like steakhouses, and Morton's Downtown is certainly one of the best, but this place also has great seafood dishes and sides. Best of all in the seafood area is they have Alaskan King Crab legs, a delicious item that is very difficult to find in Houston area restaurants. This is not to take away from the steakhouse dishes, because Morton's are simply top of the line! An added bonus for theater-goers: It's close enough to the Theater District for a wonderful change of pace pre-show dinner."

Review 31 for Morton's The Steakhouse - Houston - Downtown
"Very disappointing. We had a great experience at the Galleria location last year, but decided to try downtown when it appeared Galleria was unavailable for Valentine's Day. Of all things, the steak was the most disappointing: A bit overdone, but mostly just bland. Did they forget spices?? Service was just OK, as it was clear they just wanted to get us in and out so that they could seat the next holiday wave of reservations. That became ABUNDANTLY clear when they failed to tell us about the dessert that would take a while to prepare. The waiter said he'd been told to stop offering it ... ostensibly because they were "backed up," but no doubt because it would interfere with their ability to turn our table in time for the next guests."

Review 32 for Morton's The Steakhouse - Houston - Downtown
"One of the best steaks I've had in the Houston area. Neither my Fiancé nor myself had any alcoholic beverages and the waiter seemed to ignore us a little because we weren't going to run up our tab for a larger tip. Had to call him over multiple times to get drinks refilled, but otherwise it was a enjoyable evening. VALET PARK, I parked in a garage next door and the garage close while I was inside dining and I had to go back out through the entrance. A joke that they let me in the garage at night if they were going to close within the hour. So valet is definitely worth the price in its convenience factor here."

"Host talked on phone instead of seating us. Waiter was really sloppy looking. The wedge salad was absolutely amazing, other than that, pretty bad. Steak was overcooked and tough. Sides were not note worthy. Too many good steakhouses to go here. Landry's kills another restaurant."
