Please note that the courtyard is seated on a first come, first serve basis. A reservation does not guarantee seating in the courtyard but we will have a table available inside our beautiful, historic carriage house.
We normally allow reservation space for only 50% of the dining room to accommodate walk-ins.
Additionally, in order to accommodate all of our guests who are waiting to be seated, we are only able to seat your party once everyone has arrived.

"We had a late lunch at Cafe Amelie during a long weekend in the French Quarter. The menu is, to say the least, abbreviated. But the food is delicious and well-presented. The most impressive feature of the restaurant is te beautiful courtyard which allows for slow dining and pleasant conversation. This is not a place at which you should rush your meal to get to another destination. Enjoy the nut bread with fig spread. Have a glass or two of wine or a spicy Bloody Mary. And relax. Go with someone you know or someone you want to know better and enjoy the lovely peaceful atmosphere."

"This was a beautiful, quiet setting for three mothers to enjoy outdoors together. There is also indoor dining available. Although the tomato soup was a bit spicy for the person ordering it, all were ecstatic about everything else we ate. The other two raved about the nut bread with goat cheese and dates. I had a an outstanding meal of a spinach, goat cheese, and pecan salad, followed by the tuna steak. The shrimp and grits were delicious. Two of us shared a mixed berry crumble dessert, which was yummy."

"This restaurant should be on everyone's short list of favorites in NOLA. We have a nearby condo therefore spend plenty of time in the FQ and know most of the dining locations well and Cafe Amelie is one of our top places to dine. Very accommodating staff and excellently prepared dishes. The smaller than usual menu is a plus for us as we can decide with only one glass of wine. Ambience is wonderful."

"Location romantic, ambience relaxing, food delicious, waiter and bus-person attentive. A few minor negatives--I would have given 4 3/4 stars since 5 implies perfection. One of the minor negatives included chatty hostesses and unoccupied waiters hanging out at the hostess station. Usually not a problem, but because the restaurant is small, it does detract if you are at one of the tables adjacent. So if you're at one of those tables, just be prepared to hear more than you might want to about what's going on after work instead of talk about actual work. Other minor negative was a small piece of black slimy lettuce in my salad. Seems you can't get a salad any more without some decomposing vegetation so I try not to let it ruin an entire meal."

"We enjoyed the food but after dark it is over difficult to see. We could not even see the menu at all and the staff didn't seem to understand this was a problem. Salmon was quite nice. If mgmt would fix this problem would be very nice courtyard."

"A lunch date dream! In the middle of the bustling Quarter, here is an oasis of romance complete with birds singing, exposed old brick, shade trees and water features. Service was prompt, courteous and welcoming. We took a recommendation for drinks and were pleased with our Rhubarb and Rye. Delicious sandwich and salad made a satisfying lunch in a deine garden setting.oh yes, did I mention chocolate melting cake for dessert? Amazing."

"Very impressed with Cafe Amelie -- beautiful courtyard setting for a nice laid back dinner, great food to satisfy any foodies, obviously a popular place by the long lines waiting for table, but totally unpretentious and friendly. Our server Wade was personable and took time to give us first-timers an overview of restaurant and recommended dishes and drinks for us, came by often to check on us and chat. It was our first meal in NOLA and was wonderful intro to New Orleans/Southern hospitality."

"One of our favorite places to eat in the French Quarter. Been there for dinner, drinks, and brunch. All outstanding food & service. Great outdoor courtyard to eat or drink in when the weather is nice. Went there for dinner once with no resv (90 min wait), instead got a couple drinks and sat in the courtyard (and drank our dinner!). Great menu choices with small twists on traditional southern food.

"I noticed Amelie walking by one evening and was impressed with the outdoor dining area.
I returned for dinner. It has a very pleasant courtyard setting,away from the noisy part of the french quarter I was disapointed in my meal. It was just average. Quality did not compare with many of the other good restaurants in the Quarter. There were several large tables that evening which may have effected the quality of service. Amelie definately has outdoor ambience"

"The food was good, the courtyard is beautiful and we were seated right away when we arrived at our reserved time. My husband ordered his entree but did not like the sides that came with it so he asked if he could have mashed potatoes instead. Our sons entree came with mashed potatoes so we know it was being served. Our waiter said no!!! HUH? My husband did not get any sides he liked with his meal....this made our whole dining experience terrible. The cost of a serving of mashed potatoes is minimal, the cost to Cafe Amelie of my husband walking away vowing never to go back and re telling this story over and over again to everyone is HUGE!"

"Very convenient to the residential area of the French Quarter, this little restaurant provides a great dining experience at a reasonable price.
The food was all perfectly prepared, the service was good, if a bit young and willing to confabulate details of all the "movie people" that hung around the place.
Cafe Amelie provides a better alternative for food that the more famous places just a couple of blocks up Royal St. Make your reservation early if you want to get indoors."

"My wife and I went for dinner on Friday (3/8) and could not have found a better place. The courtyard is a perfect setting for a romantic dinner. The food was excellent, the service perfect, I can not say enough about how much we enjoyed ourselves. On top of that, we had dinner for 2 and a bottle of very good wine (recommended by our waiter to pair with our food selections and our tastes in wine) for around $100. I have eaten many times in the Quarter for more money and no where near the quality and setting. In fact, we had dinner at Brennan's the next night and, with no slight to Brennan's which provided their usual high quality, we preferred Cafe Amelie. We will return."

"This was my first time to Cafe Amelie.. and I will Always go back. We had a fabulous lunch ..delightful wine, great, easy and simple food. Service was perfect and we loved the entire experience! The day we dined with Cafe Amelie, the weather a bit chilly but we were seated overlooking the beautiful courtyard.. A must!"

"Beautiful restaurant in an old New Orleans home, with a lovely courtyard for outdoor dining. Food was excellent, although the server didn't seem to know a lot about a dietary restriction (gluten) and the restaurant's food. Service could have been a bit more attentive - took almost 10 minutes after we were seated for him to come by and ask about a drink order, and the restaurant was not busy at the time."

"The experience was a delight from the time we discovered this little gem through the courtyard tucked back from the main street. It is a converted home with all the charm of old New Orleans. The menu was limited, but with ample variety. The food was prepared perfectly with a combination of flavors that was very creative and presentations that were"

"It was too cold to dine in the courtyard but a very wonderful find in the middle of the French Quarter. I found this on OpenTable and when I told the concierge at the Marriott that I already had a reservation he said it was an excellent choice."

"This is our favorite restaurant in the French Quarter. We visit New Orleans often on business and alway make it a point to eat here. The courtyard is beautiful and we also enjoy eating in the bar area. As always, the food is terrific. I had a duck dish that was the best that I have ever eaten. Drinks are always fun. Love this place!"

"Our meal at Cafe Amelie was very good. The reservationist was especially helpful as we changed the number of guests twice and she was so nice and accomodating. The only issue I had was our server was quite curt, and didn't seem to want to be waiting on us. She was efficient but I don't believe cracked a smile until she dropped the check. Perhaps she was very busy and didn't have time to be cordial. Our meals were good though."
