"We ate dinner here with our two adult daughters on Saturday evening and could not have had a conversation inside due to the noise. I believe there was a DJ playing music inside even though it was only 9:00. We asked for a table outside and it was very pleasant. Food was delicious and service attentive."

"the overall experience was good but two things made me doubtful:

"This was my second time at Fig and Olive for dinner, it was awesome.
First of all we had a very pleasant and knowledgable waitress, she was very attentive which was lovely. We shared the Carne Crudo for an appetizer, super fresh filet mignon with delicious focaccia crackers. We then all ordered entrees, my mother and I had the Branzino entree which was super delicious and not too sweet even with all the figs. the Gents enjoyed their various pastas. Our food took a little while to come out but our waitress kept us posted, and considering there was a huge table of women (16) it was understandable. Overall a wonderful experience. Would not go on a friday or saturday night if you're looking for a quiet dinner."

"Food is great and original. Mix of appetizer choices and the unique Crostini are perfect for sharing. Nice selection of pasta and fish if you don't want usual meat choices. Just stuck to cocktails because they were so good. Server was very nice and good recommendations"

"One of the best meals we had in New York so the food is fantastic. But there is no atmosphere, the waiters are prompt but thats about it.
I mentioned it was my girlfriends 30th in the opentable booking form and the restaurant made no extra effort."

"I was in this restaurant in Dec 2012 and had the worst experience with the waiter. I never went back to this place since then. However, recently in May, had a friend visiting and needed somewhere to go in meatpacking and made a booking here to give it a 2nd try and I was not only amazed, but have become a fan for f&o. The service was just outstanding, which is the it has always been and the food was outstanding. Everything was prepared like a fine art and presented beautifully, the oils and different dishes were explained very succinctly by the waitress (Australian). She was just amazing.
Definitely will come back here again. so my moral of the story, sometimes, give a 2nd chance and you will be blown away with how good this place is."

"A business colleague and I found this by searching on New York's Meatpacking district, and it was a delight. We each ordered the fixed price menu for $45 and split a bottle of wine. I had truffles for an appetizer, salmon for entree, and chocolate mousse for dessert; each course was at least as good as the previous one!. My colleague had rissotto which was also fabulous."

"Poor and inattentive service from the start- no drink order, no bread served, no discussion about the menu, not friendly, we had a 5:00 dinner reservation and the huge place was virtually empty and yet the service was poor. Had to send back the tuna because it was overcooked, the calamari in the paella was tough and chewy and the whole dish seemed premade. We also observed the bartender make a fizzy margarita like drink shaken into a martini glass and then it got bumped and lost 1/3 of its volume and the bartender then added more mixer to top it off- that is not OK in a restaurant this expensive. Perhaps others had a better experience here. Certainly the place is very beautiful and the potential is there."

"WOW! What started out as a great surprise view (we were given a back corner table for two - so we could look out over the whole restaurant...) kept getting better and better! Our servers (5 of them?) were all wonderful in their roles; the food was excellent; water glasses were always refilled; our every need was met.
Highly recommended. We could easily chat, but had no time, as we were constantly eating each new great-tasting morsel!

"Air conditioning was not working, We were not offered anything to compensate for the uncomfortable temperature except lots of refilled room temperature tap water. The service was very slow and we were overcharge on our bill for an extra entree which we did not order as well some other misellaneous charges which the waiter could not explain. Although the atmosphere was great, we will no be returning any time soon."

"Went for a business dinner and had the raspberry mojito, several appetizers and the lamb chops. Everything was OK... I was expecting to be blown away. "The food here is outstanding. The noise level ( the music they play ) is ridiculous . I looked around at the clientele and don't believe any of them were of an age or type that would enjoy that racket. "We've been to Fig & Olive in the Meatpacking District several times and have never been disappointed. The food is incredible, the wait-staff knowledgeable and friendly, and the over-all ambiance classy but relaxed. My one disappointment is that it is too pricey to be a regular dining spot, but it is a great place for a special occasion."

"Our meal was nothing less than fabulous! This is saying a lot because I am a finicky (aka critical) person when it comes to eating out, Being a highly accomplished and creative cook I am often disappointed with trendy places. The Fig and Olive is an inspiration; solidly fresh and top grade ingredients, good wine selection, and simple but elegant ambience. We will be back!"

"The title says it all--If we had known it would be that loud we would have chosen something else for the occasion. The noise was mainly from the sound system, people weren't shouting except to be heard."

"It's beautiful in here, and - despite not being Spanish - it's the best Paella I've had. I will warn that the portions will not stuff you, but that is - for the attractive, well heeled clientele (lots of young slender woman although not as many as the upper east side incarnation of this mediterranean standby) - part of the 'quality.'
We had the lunch prix fixe, but the spacious high ceiling space is excellent however large or luxurious your meal is.

"First, they would not seat us until our entire party was in the restaurant, and finding parking in that area is a pain; it took a good 25 minutes, and we had to stand there waiting and not be seated at our table until the driver of our party came. The manager says it's a regular occurrence and we weren't the only ones waiting; another party was waiting 45 minutes for their designated driver to appear. If the restaurant knows this, why not let those who have a reservation be seated?
Second, the restaurant is known for its olive oils, yet you must order a bread basket (I think it was a $6 charge) and request olive oil be served with it, plus you must order olives extra."

"We've been to two of the other Fig and Olive restaurants in the City and have never been disappointed. The Meatpacking location definitely lived up to the high standards that were set as well. We treated Mom to brunch for Mother's Day this year and it was wonderful. The food and drinks were great and we especially appreciated that we were not rushed due to the hustle and bustle of the crowd given the day it was. Try anything with the white truffle oil in it, you will not be disappointed. We will definitely be back!"

"I started visiting F&O in 2012 & quickly grew to love it. Aside from the obvious-reliable menu, flavorful dishes, expansive space(esp for NYC),great location--there are key differences that make it distinctive.Staff seem pleased to be here.They operate as a team & put customers' needs first, resulting in a positive,memorable experience.Diana is the consummate hostess & takes her job seriously...consistently striving to take care of patrons.While I visit F&O w/ different friends, it was one of our early visits when Diana recognized/greeted us (our 2nd time visiting).We decided to make F&O one of our frequent mtg places & Diana played a large part in our decision. Thanks for making it special!Highly recommend F&O for a NYC dining experience."

"Made a last minute reservation through opentable. Good ambience and noise level was moderate. Food was good - the pasta was heavy on the olive oil and garlic. The bread tasting with olive oil was good. The cocktail list was decent - they use fresh ingredients."
