It's starting to look like Paris on the Prairies, as Winnipeg's French Quarter undergoes a renaissance all of its own. Linked to the city by a quaint pedestrian bridge, the area known as Old St. Boniface is thriving as the center of franco-Manitoban culture. And looking out at the neighborhood's lamp-lit streets from Promenade Bistro, you'd be forgiven for momentarily imagining the Champs-Élysées. In a streamlined room set off by a large bank of windows on the banks of the red river with views of the Provencher bridge and Canadian Human rights museum.
"My children took me to the restaurant for Mother's day when each of them where available with their schedule. It is a cosy restaurant with great home cooked meals."

"I have been several times and each time is exceptional. The food is prepared with obvious expertise and care. What I noticed and everyone at my table noticed was even when we were finished and full and satisfied we were noticing the delicious scent of everyone elses food that came by us. yummmmmmmm. Thank you very much.
Cheryl P.S. I apologize to my waiter yet again for accidentally punching him in the face. so sorry."

"My sister and I went for lunch on the weekend. Although we were running late (and called ahead to advise) the staff were still very friendly and it didn't feel as though we were putting them out. I had the procuito, pear & brie sandwich croisant with (side) house salad and the wine pariing - it was delicious! My sister had the salmon with carmellized red onion on a croisant with (side) poutine. Also quite good, although I preferred my choice (I am biased towards anything with pear and procuito however).
The view is excellent and noise level was not a bother. The table were cozy and we had a great view of the bridge/river. Can't wait to go back to try their dinner menu, loose tea and those amazing deserts in the display case!"

"Enjoyed the atmosphere and scenic view. Our request for window seating was granted even though we were only two and the window table seated four... this was much appreciated. Food was great. Everything was fresh and tasty with generous portions. Service was friendly and not rushed. We found pricing very affordable.
We will definitely return."

"We were a party of four dining pre-theatre. Food was uniformly tasty (though high on the salt, we thought) and presentation was exceptional. The view of the downtown skyline is a plus. Seating was crowded, but service was prompt and attentive. We would return."

"My friends and myself had a most enjoyable lunch at Promenade Cafe and Wine. Service was friendly and efficient. We all enjoyed out meals. I have recommended that my sister and her group of church ladies have lunch there on their next outing to Winnipeg."

"Our dinner was delicious! We had the evening special and the restaurant accommodated us by making it for three of us (it was listed as being for two). In most high-end restaurants, the bread basket is included, while Promenade charged extra for it. The only issue was that the timing was such that the sun was right in our eyes during the meal; one of the other diners near the window saw us having to shade our eyes and closed the drapes on our behalf."

"Four of us had dinner recently and it was excellent.
Had been there a year before on opening night, May 1, 2012, which was my husband's birthday. We were not impressed at all at that time. This recent visit has changed our views completely. The meals were superb and they have gluten free items on the menu.
Delicious. Lovely service. Will definitely return."

"We had a wonderful evening! One of the guests in our party was gluten intolerant - the serving staff was aware of the food prep and made good recommendations, as well the kitchen was prepared and able to accommodate her dietary restrictions. the musical duet was a bonus!!"

"I really enjoyed dining at the Promenade Cafe and Wine - so much that I visited 2 days in a row! The food is really good - feels like organic or Manitoba grown and tasty too. I very ofter will choose a place based on the coffee and this one has some of the best."

"We had an outstanding 5 course meal and wine pairing. The flavours were matched perfectly with the wines and the service was impeccable! Table at the window overlooking the bridge and the lights of downtown Winnipeg was delightful - and we didn't know there would be music too! Simply superb..."

"I really enjoyed my evening. Dinner with a friend, reservations, seated at the best view of the city! The food was wonderful - every bite was meant to enjoy. The wine went well. Loved the St. Boniface neighbourhood ambience! Our waitress was very attentive, welcoming and knowledgeable! I have been wanting to try this place for ages and it is well worth the effort. We had a wonderful experience here on a Friday night. Thank you!"

Service was poor - waitress kept forgetting about us - asked for coffee, did not get it. Finally arrived. Asked for a 2nd cup, did not get it - asked someone else.
Parked in front, and asked if it was fine - was told 'yes'. Later, waitress came over to ask if one of the vehicles was ours - said 'yes' and were not going to move it was we asked originally if it was fine and were told yes."

Had reservation for earlier supper, noise level dramatically increased as time went on. definitely will come back."

"I made a reservation with a request for a window seat. When I arrived, the host did not even request my name, but showed me straight to a window seat already prepared. The food was very good, with an excellent lunch menu, and the views were stunning for a crisp, sunny winter's afternoon. I will be back!"

"This was my first time at Promenade Cafe and Wine. The service was very good and the food was also very good. Look forward to going back to try another selection on the menu - maybe brunch next time. We were to late to order off the breakfast menu but we saw people being served some breakfast meals and they looked wonderful!"

"I'll start by saying: the food here was GREAT. From the soup to the entrees and desserts, all was really good. Now the service: fair at most. We waited about 15 minutes to be asked for drinks and then about 10 minutes more to take our order. so, 25 minutes until you can order is quite a while. The food took a little bit as well (ok - quality food takes some time to prepare). But then the main dishes came in - and the soup came LATER. That's a huge no-no. Your starter after the main dish? Come on!!!!
Well, we will come back because the food was great, with the hopes of being better served. But in the case we're not, I doubt we will return."

"The food was great as it has been each time we've been, but the service was atrocious. We didn't have a designated server, there were 3 or 4 people that came to our table throughout the night, and only once or maybe twice each over the course of our painfully long dining experience. We ordered an appetizer and entrees and it took 2 hours. And did I mention there were only two of us. I have never waited so long for my food to arrive at a restaurant. In addition, they make you pay something like $3 for bread now. I considered promenade one of Winnipeg's lesser known fine dining gems, but after this past experience, I'm not so sure."

"Here is what part of what I posted on TripAdvisor:
We went for the first time to Promenade Bistro last night for our 'early' Valentine's Day dinner. What a great choice! The atmosphere was cosy, the food delicious and the service absolutely perfect. Loved that there were many choices for 1/2 orders. My husband ordered the beef bourguignon and absolutely loved it and I had the half order of the pork medallions in the brandy/maple sauce. Delicious does describe it. We also ordered the full order of calamari and half order of mixed bread basket (which was quite a lot). It has now become one of our favourites and we definitely will be going back soon. P.S. The waitress let us know that there is entertainment brought in on the weekends!"

"Excellent service, menu, wine selection, and great first time experiences. The beef stew we had was a bit on the tough side, plus we sat close to entrance which was on the cold side, only two things that made it not as good overall. Salad was on the prefix menu, would have been good to have option for soup."
