The menu at McCormick & Schmick's located in the old Elks building is printed twice daily & features more then 30 varieties of fresh fish & seafood flown in from around the world, served in a timeless & traditional presentation. Our lively bar is perfect for enjoying traditional mixology at is best. All cocktails are made with fresh squeezed juices & hand shaken, never blended. "Used to be a focus on the changing daily fresh seafood offering, depending on what was available. Now, the menu appears to be the same everyday, and it's just not that unique. It seems like they were ahead of their time in exploiting the locavore trend, but now that acquiring food locally is almost expected, McCormick & Schmick's has apparently abandoned that approach and hasn't replaced it with anything new & different. It is just another chain restaurant. Food is good and predictable, not remarkable. For a Friday night, this place was a ghost town, with only about 40% of the tables seated from 7:30 on."

"There were 6 in our party including a 4 year old. We had a round table that was behind the bar in a pretty private corner. We can be pretty noisy so that we were away from the smaller parties was perfect. The music they were playing was a nice mix, but there were some songs where is sounded like the singer was suffering. There was something for everybody on the menu. My sister is very picky and not very adventurous. She doesn't like fish. She had the blackened chicken alfredo or something. She said the flavor was too much for her. I didn't taste it so I can't say for sure. Nick was our server and awesome. He was very accommodating and patient when the 4 year old talked to him. Good food, great service, nice ambience. Will return."

"Repeatedly asked if the music could be turned down, was told the server had to check with "someone". Music was never turned down, made conversation quite difficult. Also, don't we get bread with our food? Also, clam chowder tasted too salty."

"The food was perfectly prepared,our server was very friendly and helpful and made the time enjoyable. The prices i felt were equal to the quality of food we recieved. Everything was well prepared even the bread.Only reason we went was i had $100 gift card. But for a special occasion i could see coming back."

"I ordered swordfish, as did my associate, but our server came back to us & said there was only one piece of swordfish left. It was 7:15 pm & they were out of swordfish? ? I ended up with halibut, which was good, but my sides of broccoli & mashed potatoes were not - the potatoes were too, too salty & the broccoli was very tough & chewy. However, their lemon-drop martini was excellent. The two big groups that were setup by us were very loud, so it made the noise level high & difficult to have a conversation at our table. It seemed more quiet in the bar area. Overall I was very disappointed."

"The menu is quite extensive & inviting. Our food was good, not great. My dinner seemed a bit overdone & dry. My wife's was quite good. Our server was very nice but forgot several basic things -eg, to bring bread after we had said yes when asked if we wanted some; to bring new forks as well as knives after both were used during the first course (had to ask after the knives were brought & forks were still noticeably missing); no water refills were ever offered. These are small points but tended to keep us wondering. We'll likely go back to see if this was just an aberration."

"Upon entering, no one acknowledged us even though both a (cocktail?) waitress and a host were having a conversation at the end of the bar. It took about 45 seconds to get acknowledged. I told them the name of the reservation and was initially told that there wasn't one under my name. (Not getting my date night off to a good start...) We were seated and Tatiana was our server. She was polite and engaging. We both had the $28.99 3-course dinner special. Soup, Surf and Turf, and cheesecake. Salad, Trout, and Creme brulee. The food was well-prepared and FABULOUS. The trout and prawns were cooked perfectly, succulent and flavorful. Dessert was to die for. Service was attentive and pleasant. We would definitely go back again."

"Our Server, Paul, was the best part of the dining experience. He was personable, remembered our names and upsold my husband into getting the steak, when he was going to get the chicken. The food is superb but geared more for men in that the servings are large and rich. Not delicate. Big piles of broccoli for example. I love that the restaurant is located in the historic Elk's Lodge building. The drinks were the very BEST! The bartender (can remember his name...red head) made me a special drink that wasn't on the menu. (watermelon cosmo) I also, loved the stuffed salmon (chef's choice). stuffed with brie cheese and crab! The salmon melted in your mouth...good stuff!"

"I would not recommend going here for an Easter menu. Very limited. Three of our party of four ordered off the regular menu. The $15 french toast from the Easter menu did taste of the rum it was supposed to have, but the glazed walnuts that were supposed to be on the plate were not there. And it was just average. Better french toast made at home. Spending close to $120 on fish and chips and french toast definetely not happening again there for us."

"We went for an Easter brunch so this review is in regards to that and not their normal fare. I found that although the brunch was prepared well this place by no means is a top rated brunch location. "This used to be a premier seafood place, featuring local, that is, west coast seafood. Now it has become an anonymous large scale chain, bought out by mega-chain Landry's, with fish shipped clear across country and lots of farm raised fish. "McCormick & Schmick's is in a convenient location for those staying downtown and near the capitol or convention center. We had a reservation for a party of six. Due to an emergency, we only had five for dinner. The staff was pleasant and quickly rearranged seating for us in a quiet booth area. A couple of oddities, 1) the CHEF’S EXCLUSIVE DINNER is not available on holidays. We dined on St Patricks Day (a holiday?). The interesting things is had we been able to order the CHEF’S EXCLUSIVE DINNER, the restaurant would have grossed an extra $50-$60 + tip. Instead we shared an appetizer, ordered entrees, and no dessert. 2) one of the party ordered trout, no trout available, 3) the server knew the wines, but not the beers."

"We were part of a group of 22. First, they brought a menu for a different group. After awhile they brought the right menu with the wrong group name on top. The clam chowder and house salad were good. There was a long wait between the soup and salad and main courses. Our choices were salmon, which receive good reviews from the group, sirloin steak, which we were informed "only came cooked medium", an chicken picatta, which most enjoyed. The creme broulee and cheescake were both good. Overall, I would say the quality of the entrees has slipped since I last dined here. "We had a great meal, with good service and nice quiet table. While eating our dessert my wife said, "I don't think this is what we ordered", so we stopped eating it and when the waiter came over, he noticed right away he gave us our neighbor's dessert. He said enjoy it and I will bring you the correct dessert. We were sharing, but now both had a dessert as he said he would not charge us for the mistake. When the bill came I noticed he put the price of the "mistake dessert" on the tab, then at the bottom credited it back out with a note........here is the ironic part it stated, "cutomer said desset was too sugary"....so he blamed his mistake on us, the customer! Funny yes!!!"

"The food was goood. Service was good until it took 20 minutes for our server to get our desserts to us. And he didn't come to our table to explain/apologize for the delay until almost 2/3 of the way through our wait. We'll probably return because we do like the food, but we've had the same service problems two times in a row now. Also, prices have increased to the point where they match the prices at Biba which is a far superior restaurant."

"We went on a tuesday night. Service was slow. They didn't bring any bread until I asked for it and then said they only gave it if
people asked? Not good for a classy restaurant. The rest wasn't very busy but it took forever to get out main course. The
presentation was good. I had reviewed this is a tourist trap and gets away with it since it is in downtown Sacramento.

"Host couldn't figure out how to adjust the blinds so that the sun wasn't in my eyes. They were out of swordfish, baked potatoes, & vanilla ice cream! We waited nearly an hour before we were served any food. We had the table for 6 in the corner & were almost frozen by the time dinner was over; asked 2 people to adjust the temp, but said they couldn't - it would affect the whole restaurant; found thermostat & did it myself. The waiter never refilled our wine glasses or brought more bread. Salmon/Orzo dish was good but greasy w/ a large amount of oil in the bottom. Caesar salad was bland; needed anchovies, lemon, garlic. The whole evening was weird... blamed it on a convention being in town. Crab Twr, Steak & Atl Salmon were good; Sole bland."
