"Covo is off the beaten path in Harlem, all the way over by the west side highway on Riverside Drive. It's in a funky warehouse type space that has tables that are fairly spread apart and a nice bar upstairs. It's noisy, but not where you can't hear others at your table. the food is very good. I had the mussels this past weekend and they were really yummy. The pizza is very crusty and they make good cocktails too. We went back two weekends in a row. I'd recommend it."

"The food is fantastic; the service is unsurpassed. Only one complaint: Please get yourselves up to an "A" rating from the Health Department! I was somewhat perturbed to get to the restaurant and find that it only rated a "B" - especially since about half of all restaurants in NYC now rate an "A" and I was arriving with guests whom I'd invited out.

Get that fixed and you're a 10 out of 10!"

"Covo is a GEM! We have gone here twice now before events that we were attending in NYC. The food, service and ambiance are outstanding. We love the atmosphere and being able to chose al fresco or in-house dining. It's a great pizza/salad/wine/beer place that we will always consider when we want to eat before an event.
The prices are VERY reasonable too. Easy parking access in front.
A true GEM!"

"The restaurant ambiance and location is fantastic. The food is amazing. The service is the worst I've experience in Manhattan thus far. Especially coming from a background in waiting tables, I found the service to be beyond lacking, and management should have been present. Even the hostess was playing Candy Crush on her cell phone."

"Covo was at first hard to find! It's nestled on 12th Avenue, below the end of 135th St., but once you descend from the terrace of Riverside Park above, it's right there at the bottom of the stone stairs, tucked right under the bridge. This is one of the most inviting, warm, and interesting places I have eaten. It is attended by efficient and very friendly staff -- who really watch out for you, but don't hover. The fare is excellent, with a wide range of real but simple Italian dishes and extraordinary pizza. Desserts were perfect. The space is very large, and includes another upper floor. It's rooster motif is peppered throughout; it's large wood tables, casks, and chandeliers perfectly compliment to the ambiance and energy of the room."

"The food was very good and the service excellent. Our waitress overheard us wishing our friend a happy birthday, and she brought his cake with a candle and sang happy birthday to him without our having to ask. The noise level was pretty loud, but we were luckily in a corner."

"Most people do not think of good dining spots under the trestle of the Westside Highway on 12th Avenue, but Covo is one.
It is a bit tucked away, but worth the trip. The food is good, pizzas and other Italian dishes. The specials were great, good home cooking, very nice ambience. Great wine selection."

"We are regular diners at Covo, we live in the neighborhood and are delighted to have such a great vibrant restaurant. We always order the pizza with fig, prosciutto and gorgonzola. It's always great. Also, the lamb chops were GREAT, the short ribs were perfect, the mashed potatoes wonderful and creamy and the server made a big fuss over the birthday celebrant and brought us a beautiful dessert with a candle and a song. ."

"This is one of my favorite restaurants in New York. It is in its own category of place, and ambience. For almost any occasion it is a wonderful treat with great food that never disappoints and for eithe rintimate or gorup dining it is always a great experience. It is a little hard to find if you do not know the area, which makes it even more interesting.

A great walk after your meal is a journey into one of the most fascinating parts of Manhattan - the heart of Harlem. There are few places in Manhattan where you feel you have arrived at the most trustworthy and elegant and gorgeous (unadorned) village restaurants. You will always be taken care of!"

"We've been to Covo several times and enjoy the food, location and atmosphere. But last night would make us never come back again. There was a party going on upstairs and the music was so loud, the bass so booming, that we could not hear each other talk. (And yet, we couldn't enjoy the music because it was coming from upstairs. Felt like we were sitting outside the party we had not been invited to.) The restaurant should close on such nights, or warn people about a party going on, or lower the music. I complained nicely to our waiter, who didn't care. On our way out I realized the tables by the windows were a bit quieter than our table at the inside wall. I wont go to Covo again unless promised there will be no other event at the same time."
