"It was a very slow night. I think service always suffers when there are few customers and the wait staff doesn't have to be on their toes. We weren't ready to order the first time the server came and then we had to wait for her to come back. First to place a wine order and then to take our orders. The salads arrived pretty quickly and were all very good. And then the meals arrived, also very quickly and we weren't all finished with the salad course. So, the server just asked us to move our salad plates to accommodate the main course plates. That was something that might happen at Perkins. When the dessert menu looked uninteresting, we called it a night. I've tried this place four times and the service isn't getting any better."

"Friendly service but extremely slow, everyone around us, including us, was complaining about the wait for their food. Apparently the kitchen needs to step it up. Salads were very good. Homemade pasta was really nice, good texture. Sauces a bit under seasoned and we felt they could have had more veg in the orecchiette with sausage, something missing in the shrimp tagliatelle (good but could have been great) . Beautiful dining room but a bit loud. Hardest worker in the place was the teen bussing tables and filling water, I would hire him. I would go back but be prepared for a leisurely dining experience."

"There were some flaws in the service - from confidence of server's experience - but generally, our service was good and our party had a very good experience. The food was wonderfully prepared and nicely presented. The Bruschetta was a great little surprise! I discovered a tender, nicely seared scallop on a crisp'd crostini. The duck was flavorful, with a crispy skin - which made everyone at the table moan with delight. The oriechette was served with a delicious italian sausage and bite-firm broccoli, in what I assume was a beurre blanc. I just finished the left-overs for lunch. We'll go back. The food was very good, with good portions and nicely presented. The wine selection had depth. Service was happy and helpful."

"We selected this restaurant because it was the only one in that area that accepted reservations. And it was great. Our waitress was energetic and well versed in the ingredients and preparation. The food was excellent and there was no rush. We brought our own wine but I am not sure what the corkage fee was. Terrfifc food, great service in a cute dining room."

"This was our first time here, and we left wondering why it took so long to eat here! First, the food was really good. We split the spinach/strawberry salad, which was light and refreshing. Our entrees were the bucatini and the orrichetti, both excellent but large portions. We could have split one entree. The bread was excellent and they cheerfully refilled it 3 times for us. The server was fine, but did not give any suggestions or feedback on the menu, although she did give a good wine suggestion when asked."

"We always enjoy Trattoria Tosca - the food is tasty, the service is always friendly (if a little casual), and the setting is fun.
We had a party of five at the booth by the kitchen stairs as the window location previously offered was a bit drafty. Seating was a little tight but we made it work and the staff helpfully took coats to give us some more space. Everyone enjoyed their food (finished all around, even those who routinely leave something on the plate) - all pasta dishes with salads to start. My strozzapretti with pork sugo was nothing short of delicious with the al dente pasta the perfect complement to super tender pork.
My only grievance with the evening was with the $8 arugula & fennel salad - very tasty but tiny portion."

"It was good overall. I would eat there again, but some of the set-up of the space (it shares space with Turtle Bread) makes it a bit awkward for the ambiance (and then feels a bit overpriced)."

"Menu is limited, but choices are interesting. Pasta's home-made (in whose home I have no idea). Portions are quite small, so you will definitely need an appetizer. Very pleasant vibe."

"Went for special occasion mention anniversary in special requests. No acknowledgement by staff. Wait person kept coming to see if ready to order. Out of fish by 7:30 on Saturday. Didn't split salad. Bread plates too small. Orchetti (sp) too salty and uninteresting. Another wait person running in the dinning room. Price too high for level of food and service."

"Noise level was very annoying. Place was full and there were some large tables of loud-speaking diners. We felt as though we had to also speak loudly to be heard by the people in our own booth. You also need to know that we are all 70 years old and our hearing is not quite as good as it once was. But it was very loud in that second, larger room."

"This was my second time eating at Tosca--I can't help but abbreviate the name, sorry!--and the service as well as the food were exceptional both times. I lived in Italy for three years several lifetimes ago, and it is a pleasure to encounter cooking that reflects that same care and the appreciation of good food reflected in the menu here that I learned to adopt as my palate of choice. We will be back."

"We went to Trattoria Tosca simply because Broder's was far too crowded and didn't want to wait for an hour and a half to sit at a table. However, the food was just blah, nothing very interesting and a very limited menu that wasn't very exciting. The one saving grace was that the wine was extremely good and the sweet polenta pear dessert was impeccable. The service was great and the location is cute, but the food was nothing very special."
