"This is a great local restaurant with lots of style and flavor. Rustic modern decor with a 1920s flair. Creative cocktail menu. I had the Her Blonde Mohawk, an apple brandy/whiskey cocktail. It was fantastic. I had the beet salad. Very fresh and flavorful. For my main course I had the filet. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. Drink service was very slow, but service overall was friendly and food service was fast.
I'm not likely to go back because we were seated at one long table right next to people we didn't know. Zero privacy. It was very uncomfortable. The restaurant should consider sacrificing a few seats for smaller tables. We even had a reservation."

"I reserved through Open Table and told them we were celebrating an anniversary and asked if they could do anything special. We got there and nothing was said about our reservation request. Kind of disappointing. I didn't feel like we were special from the couple next to us. Maybe I should have called in person to make a special request. This restaurant is not for special occasion dining. The seating was very cramped. We were literally seated within inches of the party next to us. The table behind us was loud and obnoxious. It didn't make for a quiet and romantic dining experience (which is what I wanted). I should have looked into that before reserving. The food and service was really good. The decor was cool, too."

"We have gone to Pallet quite a few times, and have never been disappointed. The food is consistently delicious and 3 times now we have had the same server, Rachel, and shes awesome. Always remembers us and takes really good care. Pallet is definitely my number 1 in SLC."

"Sssh, don't tell anyone - our new fave find in downtown SLC. The room is fantastic, an eclectic mix of metals, found woods, and stunning original art (I asked - the owner's wife). Our server was super nice (but could have known a bit more about the ingredients on the menu, was nq up to speed when we asked her some things). Don't order a cosmopolitan, it's nq what you'd expect. The menu is beautiful, with a terrific mix of game, fish and 'the regulars'. The veggies were cooked to perfection (smooth but not soft or underdone). Dee-lish. The desserts were yummy too. We're going to Pallet again for sure!"

"Love this place! Eaten here twice with coworkers while in town for business. Had to dine here again after the first experience. Love the look and feel, great ambiance
The food is excellent. The chicken stuffed with walnuts and cherries is the best chicken dish I have ever eaten. Truffle fries are a must for the table. The oatmeal dessert is delicious. Never had anything like it. This is just to name a few. You can't go wrong with whatever you order here.
The service started out a bit slow with the first round of drinks. There were 5 of us and it seemed to overwhelm the one bartender. Service was fine after that.
Overall great experience twice at Pallet. Will keep going back. Highly recommend for a great meal in a great setting."

"Had to eat at Pallet to see what the buzz was about. It's a very interesting and historic building. Good ambience, good service. Food - Meh. I had scallops that were so salty I couldn't eat them. Even the replacement was inedible. My husband had a steak which was good but not great. The staff were kind enough to take the scallops off our bill, even though I told them I wanted to pay for the meal (everything else on the plate was good). We'd go back again - but not after trying many of the other new restaurants in town."

"We had a reservation but when we got there, there was not a table for us so we sat at the bar,which was fine. We really enjoyed the food especially the truffle fries, I think I will be craving those for awhile. I thought the corkage fee was pretty high at 12.00 since 8 is high end average. Over all I would be apply to return and let my foodie friends know about the place."

"We went there for my birthday and ha an awesome experience. The overall feel and ambiance was great. Our waitress seemed tired and like she had a lot on her mind but the food made up for her lack of enthusiasm. The truffled fries and the gnocchi were delicious! The duck and chicken were okay with mild flavors without much "pop". The fillet was by far the star of the menu and would rank in my top 3 fillets ever. The scalloped potatoes were melt in your mouth tender and the blue cheese sauce married everything perfectly."

"Even if you have a reservation you may be seated at one of the communal tables. We did and it wasn't at all bad. We had a nice conversation with our dining neighbors and got to see some of the food before we ordered! But if you don't like the idea of communal tables or want a romantic dinner for two Pallet may not be for you. Food was good and the service quite attentive. We had theater tickets and were on a deadline. Our waitress managed to get us out right on time!"

"First glance at the menu didn't impress but once the food started arriving both my wife and I couldn't stop. we started with a few appetizers, including the beet salad, truffle fries and mushroom ravioli's. My wife had the tomato/lentil soup as well. These items were all EXCELLENT. The truffle fries were decadent while the mushroom ravioli's had an amazing, complex taste. The beet salad was fresh and refreshing as well. As for the soup, my wife doesn't even like tomato soup but it was a soup-like night so she went for it and not only was she not turned off by it but loved every bite.
I ordered the seafood pasta which was a little lacking in taste but was fixed by adding a little pepper. Presentation of all foods was amazing."

"Overall, I really enjoyed Pallet. It was a good find for a birthday dinner. We had dinner tapas style sampling a wide variety of the appetizers. The sweet potato gnocchi was by far my favorite (and I don't even really like sweet potatoes). The only thing I really didn't like was the mushroom ravioli and that can be attributed completely to the texture of the filling for me. The flavors were good but I wasn't expecting what I got on that one. That said, the other 3 appetizers and 2 salads were all very good.
The building is unique and set the ambiance at Pallet well. I'd definitely go back again!"

"Big fan of Pallet's menu, can't go wrong with anything really. Diverse dishes, perfect portions, always delicious. Always start with several orders of the Truffle Fries, the sauce that night was a tarragon aioli, we were licking the sauce dishes clean. Scallops are my go to entree. Service is spotty though. This place gets busy, fast, and servers seem to get a little overwhelmed...food takes awhile but is definitely worth the wait!!
They've revamped their dessert menu. Couldn't pass up the ice cream sandwich, a lemon ice cream nestled between lavender cookies."

"My second time to Pallet. First time my duck was under-seasoned, but everything else was decent. Went back hoping it would be better. Appetizer (Gnocchi Pillows) were a little under-seasoned and underwhelming. I got the chicken, and it was over cooked and burnt on the bottom. Flavors were good, and I suspect it would have been a nice dish if prepared properly. My guest got the special, which was BBQ short ribs. Great flavor, but again it was overcooked and on the dry side.
I really love the interior design, location, and overall idea of this restaurant. However the food does not seem to be on par with other restaurants for the price, so it will be tough to justify going back."

"Pallet is one of the new gems in salt lake. Once again my wife and I had great meals. Creative twists continue to fill their menu and cocktail selection. Definitely worth trying!"

"One of the better restaurants I've been to in SLC. My only complaint was how close the tables for two are together. Until the couples on either side of us left, I didn't feel I could really have that intimate, romantic meal I'd hoped for. Service was great...felt very attended to but not harassed. The braised rabbit special was WONDERFUL! The bison osso bucco was just a bit above average. Very nice little spot."

"Our cocktails were horrible. Wine was fine. Food was good. Dessert was definitely the highlight. We could not order the drinks and wine to coincide with appetizers and meal. We were finished and waiting on a cocktail and glass of wine we had ordered before our entree was served."

"We are from idaho and we visit pallet every time we come to Salt Lake City. My favorite restaurant there by far. It is an inspiring space, amazing food from the appetizers to the dessert, and the service is always good. We love it."

"Great restaurant. The menu was varied, interesting, and seasonal. We had salads and appetizers, which made a complete meal. Trout with Brussels sprouts, bacon, and tapenade was cooked perfectly, wonderful mix of flavors. Small restaurant in restored building. The decor is restored in an authentic restoration rather than the standard redo with a few authentic touches. Will definitely eat here again"

"Everyone had a great meal except my wife. The kitchen could not get my wife's steak the way she liked it which soured the evening. Also the wine we ordered was great but they only had one bottle and the stand-n was not as good."

"Pallet is becoming a fast favorite of mine. The food is exquisite, there are new selections often enough to keep me coming back. Drinks are easily paired with each course. The desserts are absolutely inspired! If you haven't eaten here you are missing out."

"The food was good, and portions were small but just right. A little surprised that such a trendy place has so few vegetarian options. A little disappointed in the desserts. The deconstructed cheesecake didn't really do the trick for me. The service was very good. Attentive but not pushy with good suggestions and quick to respond when we had a problem with one of our orders."

"The service was great. The people very friendly. We enjoyed everything but the noise level was a tad-bit high. Fortunately we had a private table (as opposed to the communal tables) and I think that helped cut down some of the noise. The private table had nice cushioned benches to absorb some of the sound. We enjoyed our food. The truffle fries were great!"

"Make a reservation & be patient! Popular & nobody seems to vacate the table in a hurry. Small, dark & loud w/ 2 large common tables & 2-tops on the perimeter. Small bar seats 6-8. Great menu variety - oysters were the best we've had in quite a while. Bison was very good with layers of deep flavor & the seabass was perfect. Wine list is well represented but short on lower price levels. Oatmeal shortbread dessert was a great treat on a cold winter evening. Staff is friendly, apologetic over seating backlog & attentive during dinner service. Owners are present & approachable. Great for food exploration but dining well will take some cash- but well worth it. If traveling to SLC you should make a reservation ahead of time & seek out Pallet."

"Portions were too small. Overpriced. "Main" dishes were more like appetizers. Great sauces and flavors. Would probably not go back because its so noisy, too noisy, making it difficult to speak and hear across the table. Cold atmosphere. Didn't feel like I got enough value...and it was an uncomfortable setting."

"Visited for valentines and had the valentine menu. Food was good. They weren't offering cocktails, which was a huge shame as they looked very interesting. I liked the menu as it was easy to share, but at times the food lacked flavor and that little something that makes you remember it. I'd go back, because I like the place and the main menu might be better."

"Pallet can be hit or miss and this trip was no exception. Our drinks, apps, entrees and dessert were all fantastic but I could have done without the salads. Our server was polite and really knew his stuff! Often at large communal tables it seems like you can get lost in the crowd but our server was attentive and made us feel like we were just as important as anyone else :)
Bottom line: GO!!!! But skip the beet salad and the kale salad..."
