FARM at The Carneros Inn
FARM, at The Carneros Inn is a restaurant dedicated to food that accompanies wine. We believe in well-balanced, comforting, full-flavored dishes that are simple in concept but complex in taste, emphasizing the natural flavors of the ingredients. We craft our own breads, pastries and Artisan Charcuterie products using our passion for experimentation, and respect of tradition. Our inspiration comes from access to the finest organic and sustainably raised ingredients that we source primarily within a 150 mile radius of Carneros, to harvest food that is at the peak of its season and flavor. The food we prepare supports and nurtures ourselves, our guests, and our land.

"Just a bit of advice never get the pre-fixed menu. $150 a head and the portions were very small, tuna over cooked. Deserts were okay but who wants to pay $150 for a decent salad, and desert?"

"So, my 16 year old daughter found this restaurant while researching dining choices for our Bay Area business trip. She has a knack for finding the finest restaurants everywhere we go. We decided FARM did not disappoint!! We both agreed to have the 7-course Chef's Menu, and knew we had made the correct choice when our first course of potato dumpling with caviar melted in our mouths. This was indeed a fun evening out where the food, wine, and company was 2nd to none. It's always fun to have time away with my teenage daughter, and the evening was perfect as our palettes took an amazing journey thru the menu. Next time you're in Napa, don't forget to make time for an amazing meal at FARM!! Enjoy!!"

"Amazing food! We got there early and they have a fabulous patio out front for drinks and snacks! Dinner was great!!!! We had the asparagus with farm egg---cooked to perfection; farm salad! Light, crisp and not overdressed! The risotto is amazing! Creamy, cheesey and the lobster was delicious! The ahi was cooked to order ad the mushrooms were great! Desserts were very good as well and nice wine ad cocktails!!! Great flavors! Bravo!"

"The look and feel of this restaurant is sleek, approachable and friendly. The menu is not very long; but with variety and well described dishes. Wine list is extensive; although on the pricey side.Staff is very attentive and friendly. The lobster risotto and filet mignon entrees needed salt or acidity; they tasted flat. The dessert was divine with a noteworthy treatment of carrot cake. Overall an expensive evening; and a delightful evening."

"When touring the wine country, consider a last stop at Farm. It's location is perfect for those heading back to the bay as it's in the southern region, between Sonoma and Napa. The outdoor lounge is a great place to have a snack and relax before you trek home and staying for the full dinner is a solid choice as well. While there are more prestigious places fairly close, and it's probably not a destination restaurant, it's a solid call for the end of a day of wine country fun."

"Well, truly hate to write a negative review but this was very disappointing. It was a special occassion and we are foodies, but this was sad indeed.
We are very local, Marin and Napa, in the wine industry as well as hospitality. We expected the prices not the portions. For example we ordered a asparagus appetizer for $16 and got, truly 3 pencil size spears. The entrees were small which was expected but flavors were mediocre. The trio of suckling pig was non eventful. The duck breast was well cooked and flavorful but again the size was slight. We ordered the panna cotta which was a barely enough to taste on your spoon. Needless to say we will not be back nor will we refer this place to anyone!"

"I took my niece here for a celebration of her pending marriage. We were seated in a quiet corner booth where we could comfortably talk. The server brought us complimentary sparkling wine to kick off the celebration dinner. We shared oysters and preferred the e. coast ones. My niece had the sole with a cool bacon type mushroom. I had the ahi tuna, and while not the best, it was still good. We shared the banana dessert.The ambiance is modern and clean, while still maintaining warmth with the fabric booth. There was a fireplace nearby, as well as outdoor fire pits that we passed. The service was attentive without being intrusive. Our server was well educated about the wines, entrees, apps and desserts. We both would go back."

"Amazing food. The lobster and meyer lemon risotto is one of the best dishes I've ever had. The deserts are unique and fun. The service is tremendous. The wine list is awesome. The ambiance is outstanding.

"Ambience was great and the servers were very personable. Our main courses were extremely slow to come out so with they brought us a surpise cheese plate. Unfortunately all of the food seemed to seriously miss the mark with flavor.

Tuna tartare - I have never seen pine nuts used with this dish before but I don't think it added anything special
Farm salad - tasty but too small to share
Moonlight goat cheese plate - nothing to write home about
Ahi tuna with mushrooms - super bland, could have used more sauce or spice something
Filet - steak cooked perfectly but accompaniments were ok
I liked the chocolates they brought out at the end of the meal

"My fiance and I have been to FARM twice, and both times everything we ordered was near perfectly prepared and original. We've tried one or two dozen of the nicer restaurants in Napa and Sonoma counties, and FARM has quickly become our reference for best food in the area.
The restaurant itself is modern but tasteful with a dimly lit and relaxed atmosphere in the evenings. The prices for the place are commensurate with the level of quality we've seen, so this might be more of a special occasion place than an every day dinner place - but either way I couldn't recommend it any more strongly."

"We are a retired couple who eat out frequently, and The Farm has always been a special dining destination for us. We chose to order from the a la carte menu because the 7-course tasting menu was a bit over-the-top. The a la carte menu is a bit limited in scope; there being one beef item, one poultry item and two fish items on the abbreviated menu. We were not disappointed by the choice of fish we ordered; I had the Petrale Sole, my wife the Ahi Tuna. The portions are just the right size, and the dishes came out of the kitchen brimming with flavor and perfectly done. The service was cordial, knowledgeable, and helpful, making for a very pleasant overall experience. We were extremely pleased by the fact that the GM visited our table."

"We have been to this restaurant on each of our yearly trips to Napa. It has been wonderful but our most recent visit was disappointing. The food was not good, the service was poor and the overall experience was sad. My chicken was overlooked and my wife's lobster dish disappointing. We will miss this restaurant next visit."

"My wife and I are not much sea food and red meat eaters. So we ordered one chicken and one vegetarian entree's. However we were not happy with either of them. The chicken was too dry/overcooked and the vegetarian was just okay to eat, not enjoyable. The ambiance was pretty good, however the food did not keep up to the expectations raised by the ambiance."

"Enjoyed most of the meal - the entrees and dessert were excellent. The sunchoke soup was not memorable at all, but you can't always get everything right. I really appreciated the fact that the restaurant accommodated my seating request. I had asked to be able to sit next to my date, as opposed to across, and they set us up in a perfect corner booth in order to allow for us. This touch plus what was overall a great meal made for a special evening with a unique touch. Thank you!"

"AMAZING SERVICE!! We literally had 5 different people waiting, serving, bussing, etc for just my husband and myself. AMAZING FOOD! It was NOT cheap, but it was Valentine's Day, so we splurged. It was so, so good. Not one of those places that has beautiful plates but the food is so so. It looked good and tasted even better. The only thing I wasn't thrilled about were the desserts. They were good and unique just not my favorite."

"We went here to celebrate Valentine's Day and my birthday and to avoid the V's day rush. Lobster risotto was divine as an appetizer and we also enjoyed the farm salad. Absolutely delicious duck breast and filet mignon dishes (I almost always order duck everywhere I go and the Farm's duck was really wonderful). We didn't enjoy the desserts as much, but perhaps we took a chance on the wrong ones. Service was wonderful and all in all, it was a fantastic way to celebrate our time in Napa Valley, too."

"Our evening was made very special by the great service. Our food was wonderful except for two of us who ordered their ahi prepared rare. It came out over cooked. Require the entire table to choose the tasting menu, or no one gets it. I've heard it before, I understand the reason, but it is really annoying. I'm sure the "chef" can figure out when to send food out - they don't require eveyone to order the same numnber of courses from an al a carte menu, so evolve.
Modern farm house vibe, very cool (could do without the TV over bar).
Food was so/so. I expected a lot more. Wine pairings were unispired, but we had brought wine ($25 corkage is high for Napa). Food service was rushed. We were drving back to SF, so that was OK, but if I we had been staying in Napa I would have felt rushed.
