In New Orleans proper, St. Charles Avenue connects uptown with downtown and plays host to the towering oaks, sprawling mansions and glittering Mardi Gras festivities for which New Orleans is known. In neighboring Metairie, home to Ralph Brennan's café b, the oft-traveled Metairie Road's vibrant cluster of locally-owned businesses, mix of modest and ritzy residences, and family focused amenities merits its inclusion among such iconic streets that are the lifeblood of their community. Located at 2700 Metairie Road, Café B is a casual eatery offering locally influenced "elevated neighborhood" cuisine, custom built for Metairie's multi-generational clientele. Designed for a discerning, family, and food-focused audience, café b promises informally chic décor alongside comfort-driven food, service, and hospitality. Its brief, confident, and straight forward menus offer refined American comfort food at reasonable prices.
"Crawfish & Tasso Linguini was awesome and a very very large portion. Wedge Salad and Filet entree were delicious, but small portions for a hungry man (more of a portion for a woman). Specialty cocktail was divine on a warm summer night - Ponchatoula Mojito. Very refreshing. Waiter seemed a little scatter brained and not on his game. Expected more from the service end for a Ralph Brennan restaurant. Restaurant was loud and Tables very close together and tight, not suited for an anniversary dinner if you want a little privacy for conversation. Overall a great experience and we will be back."

"This was my first time at Cafe B's. To start off, the manager was absolutely helpful. He was able to accommodate my reservation and helped out my good friend with her last minute reservation. The service was great/friendly. But the food was incredible. Me and my husband said we will definitely be back for a Sunday Brunch and Mother's Day. Thank you so much for making my Mother's Day a memorable one.

"I love the relaxed feel of this place - like a comfortable dining room in a friends home. I definitely would return to try more dishes. The gumbo was amazing and the Strawberry Greens salad was refreshing. Soft-shelled crab and the eggplant parmigiana were delicious. The only reservation related to the blandness of the scallops. Everyone loved the rich desserts. Service was well-timed, friendly and not overbearing; wines were affordable.""

"The meal was truly a wonderful experience for my out of town guests and myself. The food was as good as I had in a long time with the Veal Scallopini over the top for me. I would eagerly recomend Cafe B."

"Seated near emergency exit. Sun was streaming in, covering half of our table, also glare was coming off a car windshield. Very uncomfortable. Could not face my guest because sun was directly in my face."

"We have been to Cafe B three times in the past year. This time was a disappointment mainly because the crawfish beignets were obviously cooked in old oil used multiple times. The batter was a waste of calories with an off taste. Previous experiences were very good and the service was excellent. Needs a little more attention in the kitchen to assure quality."

"This is supposed to be an upscale neighborhood gem, but that was never shown. When seating 2 at a 4 top, the other 2 sets were not taken away for some while. We ordered salads, my strawberry salad was EXTREMELY salty while my husband's wedge looked more like 1/4 of a wedge. We ordered bbq shrimp and it came out in a very small container and was average at best. My husband had the $24 ravioli and the sauce was watery and it was on the bland side. My main course was gumbo and it tasted like regular brown gravy with rice w/a few other things in it. Between courses, the waiter was very slow to clear our plates and we actually had to hunt him down to place our main course order. It was beyond disappointing. We were never asked how the food was."

"Everything was a better than good, although not great. Everyone liked what they had- and bites of what everybody else had. There were also a lot of things on the menu that I'd be interested in going back to try. Very good service as well. I'd like to sound more enthusiastic about Cafe B, because the food and service were quite good, there just weren't any "wow, you have to try this" moments. But I'll definitely go back, and I guess that counts for something."

"We had the sunset menu. The brisque soup had too much salt in it. And the brussels sprouts on the side was raw. Other than that, everything is good. The dishes are consistent."

"I called to inquire about the price for the Easter Sunday Brunch. I was told that everything was a la cart. It wasn't. The price was more as it included appetizer, entree, and dessert. Woule have liked to know beforehand."

"I fear that the restaurant has set its sights on people with an aversion to distinctive taste. We're not likely to return, as much as we like the location and waitstaff."

"Another great dining option when visiting NOLA. Being crawfish season I decided on dishes that included some tails, I ordered the daily catch and my business associate ordered the scallops. Both dishes were nicely presented, very flavorful and cooked to perfection. Also ordered up a pot of BBQ shrimp as an appetizer and have to say that it was over the top delicious. Will definitely return to this quiet neighborhood gem next time I'm in the area."

"we dined on a Monday night, so the restaurant was a bit empty. I suspect it gets busier later in the week. the food was amazing, the best Gumbo I've had in New Orleans. the ravioli with the Champagne beurre blanc was out of this world, extremely smooth and velvety.
would definitely go back."

"I was very impressed with our dinner experience. The staff was friendly and service was very good. The wines selections were great too. Our food was delicious and I will go back again and recommend this restaurant to my friends. The bar area is large so it appears to invite friends to rally at the bar and have drinks and appetizers. Really nice crawfish fete menu. Unusual dishes like crawfish pot pie and tomato crawfish bisque."

"I was pleased with our server with regard to most aspects of the meal. The only thing that bothered me about the service is that she tried to talk my friend into adding jumbo lump crabmeat to her pasta without mention of the price. Thankfully, my friend asked and she replied that it was $8. I'm not a cheap person, but to me, that sounds like a lot for just a little bit of crabmeat. My friend declined. My wedge salad was delicious as was the turtle cheesecake. I got the hangar steak and while it was tasty, I wasn't a fan of how sweet the sauces accompanying it were. That is not necessary a knock on the food - just my preferences. Our cocktails were delicious and strong. Overall, a great experience and we will be back!"

"Great as usual except with this being New Orleans one expects to be offered coffee with desert. Waitress quickly left after desert order and never returned until desert was finished. Shame....desert's not the same without some good ol' chicory."

"We would highly recommend the "b4 Sunset Menu", a 3 course dinner served from 5-6:15pm ($18.50). The two of us ordered everything on the menu except the grilled salmon (second course), but that was a no brainner since neither of us are a fan of salmon. The food, staff, and ambiance were all fantastic!"

"I'd heard good things about Cafe B and looked forward to going. However, it wasn't what I expected. The tables for 2 people were spaced too close together. There was a limited menu on the day we went. We did not get seafood topping on one of the entrees (as stated on the menu). Prices were high for the quality of food. Atmosphere and dress was very casual. Waitress was attentive in the beginning, but service declined as it got busier."

"Truffle fries great. Everything else so-so. My crawfish salad entree had very few crawfish and was swimming in dressing - not what I expected from a dish highlighted on the menu as healthy. The rest of my party felt their gulf fish and steak entrees were just average. This place is not up to par with the rest of the Brennan Family restaurants. Too bad because Old Metairie is hungry for some great dining spots."

"This is one of my Metarie Favorites we have been here mutiple times and have never been disapointed. The food is always right on point and cooked to perfection. The service is far better than what you would expect in a neighborhood restaurant. I highly recommend this restaurant to friends and family."

"The food at this restaurant is great, even the bread they serve before the meal is better than average (they're like mini croissant rolls). The restaurant was full on a Friday night, reservations are probably a good idea. The free valet is also a nice perk since parking at the restaurant is tight."

"met some friends there for dinner, ordered drinks which were good, They also have wine specials & dinner specials. We ordered the pull pork spring rolls(4), crab fettucine and steak frites , which was all very good. For desert we all split bread pudding and lemon icebox pie which was tasty. Service was great. Ambiance very nice and restaurant very clean."
