"My husband and I decided to go here to celebrate our first anniversary. We each ordered one alcoholic beverage, shared an appetizer of crab cakes and each ordered a meal. I had the seafood pasta and my husband had ribs. All the food was very good. There were also the most delicious mini croissants before our appetizer arrived. We decided to sit on the patio which was nice although the street traffic was quite noticeable. The first thing we noticed when we arrived was that most of the diners were over the age of 40 which is fine but maybe it wouldn't be the best place for a group of younger people to go to. The service was average. Overall Cafe de Ville was good but we may try other restaurants before going back."

"I have been to Cafe de Ville many times and have always had a terrific culinary experience. This time, however, I ordered the Carbonara, one of my favourite dishes. What it turned out to be was pasta in a loose cream sauce with fried bacon. Not carbonara. I was extremely disappointed as I love carbonara and don't care for cream sauce. I will still come back under the assumption it was just an interpretive difference between the chef and I."

"We were two couples meeting for a mid-week "nice" dinner. We chose Cafe de Ville based upon previous good experiences 2+ years ago, and perception it would be a good fit as the "casual yet elegant" spot for our casual outing. Yadda, yadda... Very excellent service, and every aspect was top notch. We found ourselves sharing little tastes from plate to plate: lamb, beet salad, dumplings, fabulous mushroom soup, filet, and all was scrumptious. Every dish was perfect in presentation and preparation. Top marks. Thank you!"

"There were a group of 8 of us. We all enjoyed the food and the service was great! The sever was attentive, but gave us our space to visit. He was causal, but professional at the same time. We were happy that he approached us about our dietary needs that I mentioned when making the reservation. Both the vegetarian and gluten free meals were a hit. Thank you for a very nice evening."

The tea after the dinner was superb as well as the desserts chocolate gooseberry melting cake and blueberry green tea crime Brule. I didnt feel rushed and food arrived at a very nice pace. And excellent night out with a romantic feel to the dining room. Small and quaint."

"Every dish we ordered was delicious! That dipping sauce for the mussels was really popular with everyone. We were glad they brought a second serving of bread for us to finish off the dip. The dinner special featuring the Rainbow Trout was really moist and the perfectly seasoned. The prime rib was also really tender and juicy! The server was attentive (water glasses were always refilled once it hit the halfway point), and the manager would visit periodically with us to ensure our needs were met. I will definitely be back for future visits."

"While the food was very good (although a little overpriced, we found), it was the service that was extraordinary. I would discover my water glass to be full and have no memory of how it got that way. Our server, Melissia, was warm and appropriately friendly, and made us feel welcome."

"Our group of four had a fabulous experience recently at Cafe de Ville.
The restaurant looks elegant inside without being too pretentious.
Our apps were creative and wonderfully tasty, especially the polenta with mushrooms. The service was outstanding, always helpful without being intrusive.
Everyone enjoyed their main courses, and the desserts were excellent as well.
One minor complaint is that some tables can be very close to neighbouring groups. This wasn't a problem for us."

"We won't go out of our way again. Decor- old & ratty. Service-good but we waited for our main meal for an hour & blamed it on my husband's filet. Hmmmmmmm????? Food- tasty, but dessert- YUCK. I had 2 bites & left it. Some fruity super sweet mush in a cup.

"We are tourists in Edmotnon and really enjoyed everything about Café de Ville. Exactly what we expect from a restaurant: good & discreet professional service, great food that differentiates itself from other restaurants in taste and presentation, options for vegetarian that are really tasty and great, music is nice but in the background not overwhelming, the decor is tasteful and discreet. I really have only positives things to say about our dining experience at Café de Ville. I strongly recommend it."

"Food was very good -as always. We haven't been to this location for a few years. Have gone to the Sherwood Park one the last few times. My only suggestion would be that the downtown location needs an update. Everything is looking very dated inside. Would be nice if they modernized it and spruced it up a bit."

"This resteraunt was a big disapointment. The food was very slow to arrive to our table. The waiter informed us the reason our baked brie appetizer was taking so long because it was still frozen. The mains were very simple and really not worth the price for what you pay. It wasn't bad food it was just very sub par compared to other resteraunts in the same price catagory. My. Suggestion is don't go here if your looking for something special."

"A very nice quaint little restaurant. All the staff was friendly and attentive but not overbearing. Both our meals were excellent. The food was tasted great and was presented very nicely. We had a small two person table next to the window which was perfect for a quiet romantic dinner. After our meal we stayed for probably stayed for an extra hour and never felt like we were over staying our welcome. Would definitely go back. Reasonable prices for quality food, and a wonderful atmosphere make Cafe De Ville a great choice."
