"We have been here several times. Usually the food is really good. This time not su much. The special ribs were almost in edible--so much pepper in the sauce that our mouths were burned for hours. We took them home, washed them off and put open pit on them--much better, but we will be back for some of their other items."

"Don't let the outside fool you. Once inside, this Italian gem is very nice and the food absolutely wonderful. Be warned, the portions are healthy, but not at the expense of quality. I had the Salmon Vesuvio which was a very well prepared and my friend had the Risotto Porcini which she liked a lot as well. I selected this place due to its proximity to Stage773 Theater and I am happy I did. This was my first visit, but I hope to return here again when I am in the area."

"We have gone here quire a few times for dinner, and stumbled across it for Brunch. WE ARE GLAD WE DID. The price per person was incredibly reasonable and the selection of food was vast and fresh. They were so accommodating for my 2 year old, she could eat anything on the menu and gave her free milk. HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND."

"The appetizer special was very good and our dinner was good as well. Nothing special about this place. Smells and looks like a pizzeria inside. My wife and myself agreed we would never come back for a date here but we would bring our 11 year son to grab dinner one night. Also our server didn't offer us any dessert, not that we wanted any but its the thought that counts. We were her last table for the night.up until that point she was very good."

"I had the fried meat ravioli appetizer and the pollo piccata. Both were very good. The meat raviolis are plentiful with meat, unlike some others I've had. The pollo piccata was good, although the menu description mentioned artichoke hearts but, instead, mine had an abundance of pepperoncinis. They were good to give the chicken flavor, but were overwhelming to actually eat them with the chicken. I ended up picking all of them out. Everything else mentioned in the menu description was in the dish and was very delicious. I love capers!"

"The food was excellant. We went late after a show. They were very nice. I ordered gnocci w pesto. It was the most amazing pesto I ever had. I asked for more bread so I could eat more. It was just that good..."

"The menu includes every single pasta, veal and chicken dish ever served at an Italian-American restaurant. Everything is competently prepared and generous."

"This place has quickly become our favorite Italian restaurant in Chicago. The decor is not much and it's not a high-end place but the food is fantastic. Over time, we've had the gnocchi, lasagna, eggplant parmesan, the grilled seafood(you will get a mound of seafood that is a steal at this price), and spaghetti carbonara. We've never had a dish less than excellent. Plus, the house vinaigrette on their salad is superb. Go, go, go!"

"We decided to eat here before a show at Comedy Sportz, as it was within walking distance. The food was delicious and plentiful, and the wait staff very attentive without being overly in our space. Even though it is advertised as a "family friendly" restaurant, and there were a few families with small children, it did not feel like I was sitting next on top of kid chaos. Great experience!"

"I've always had a solid experience every time I've dined here. The staff is friendly (but can be a bit slow) and the food is always delicious. I'm glad this is nearby my house :)"

"Despite having reservations for 7:30 we were asked to wait an additional 20 minutes for them to clean off a table despite there being 3 to 4 open tables. After sitting down we waited another 15 minutes before we were approached by a waitress who tried to rush us through the ordering process."

"It was obvious that the food was frozen prior to preparation. My veal marsala was submerged in a watery sauce and my date's chicken cacciatore was dry and overly smothered with a red sauce made with too much wine."

"Went to La Gondola for V-Day with the girlfriend. It was quite an enjoyable expirence. The restaurant wasn't overly packed, they kept it full but there weren't people waiting by the door. The food was outstanding. Typically, my biggest worry with Chicken Parm is that it is going to be overly greasy, not the case here. We also got the Fried Ravoli, Gnocchi, and the salads. EVERYTHING was excellent. Will definitely be back with friends!"

"This is the 3rd time I've been here and the food is always excellent. My dining companion who is a huge "foodie" proclaims this place one of the best Italian restaurants in Chicago. Whenever you go there, make sure you order a dish that comes with their house salad and get the house vinaigrette because it is one of the best side salads I've ever had. We shared an antipasti plate which was terrific. The lasagna with meat sauce that my companion had was huge and excellent. There was enough left over for lunch the next day. I had the special of crab-stuffed gnocchi in a marscapone sauce-superb! The only drawback to the evening was a party that took up half the restaurant and were loud and pushy."

"Had dinner here with my father and really enjoyed our meal. The prices are really reasonable considering your entree comes with soup or salad and they put fresh hot bread on the table. We both had pasta dishes that were very generous and tasty. A great place to hit before you catch a show at the Wit or Schuba's. Also a great place to go if you just want good high quality Italian food."

"Very good food & service at a moderate price. The parking lot next door offers free parking after 7:00 pm. I was advised to be sure to not park there until after 7:01 pm since the towing company gives no grace period."

"Have always enjoyed the food at La Gondola, it's nice they have this second location that can accommodate more people. Delicious eggplant parm and enough to make a second meal out of it later in the week. Also refreshing when a restaurant still offers soup or salad w/ your entree. Street parking is easy too."

"We usually go there for dinner before the theater. The food has always been good and they do a good job getting 15 to 20 of us in and out in time. This was our first brunch. It was good and a good value. Not extensive, but nice and unique."
