Located in the center of Charlottesville Virginia’s Midtown, MAYA serves dinner 7 days a week and Sunday Brunch. Our “made from scratch” menu is prepared daily in honor of the Old Southern Kitchen.
"We were seated in the outdoor space. It was very nicely laid out and easy to access tables. Drinks are well made and offer a lot of variety. There are always dinner specials and all our food arrived together. We were a large party of seven which our waiter handled with no problem."

"Maya has potential. 12.00 Tuesday was a very good deal but probably the best thing I tasted was the chicken and waffles which was not on that menu. We tried the biscuits and 2 were warm and 1 was cold, but they came with nice honey and butter. The service was good at first but then something fell behind or was not moving quick enough because we waited too long for our main courses."

"Our server, Morgan, was one of the best servers I have ever had. She was super knowledgeable, friendly, and prompt. Our drinks were great as well. My wife had their drink special, and she could not get over how delicious and refreshing it was. The food was amazing, and the atmosphere was fantastic for our date. We will be returning, definitely."

"Maya is a gem. Artfully presented food in adult size portions, featuring crisp, vibrant flavors. A limited menu allows them to do things right with fresh products. This was our first visit but, it won't be our last"

"We live 2.5 hours away, but we love Charlottesville. Every time we look up new restaurants to try and typically we love trying new places, but every time we are back we have to go to our favorite - Maya!"

"Loved the $12 Tuesday--we didn't know about the special when we made our reservation, so it was a nice surprise. We had a great sampling of the menu: fried oyster appetizer was perfectly breaded--light and flavorful. We thought all of the sides we ordered were tasty--and we especially like the collard greens. The entree (sirlion steak) was nicely cooked and tender. Pumpkin cheesecake was the perfect end to the meal. Overall, the food was terrific as was the service. The manager came by to check on us, which is always appreciated. Wine pours were generous, which also is always appreciated!"

"Wife and I had only vegy options so cannot comment fully on the menu. However, we ordered a salad, pimento balls, and fired seitan and all three dishes were spot on. Atmosphere and service were solid as well, and an interesting and non-overwhelming drink menu to boot. So if Southern food is of interest, this is a great place to go."

"Maya has excellent food and the setting is charming. However, we visited on a Saturday night, and the noise was really terrible. We were seated upstairs (something I wouldn't do again) and there were a couple of large parties who had apparently been drinking before they got to the restaurant. This is of course not Maya's fault, but to anyone for whom noise is a problem, I would recommend that you ask to be seated downstairs or that you avoid Maya on Friday or Saturday nights. In addition, our waitress did not appear very often, and pepper was not offered (it was not on the table) until we asked for it, and we didn't see our waitress till well after the food had been delivered to the table."

"We love Maya! It is becoming our go-to restaurant whenever we travel to Charlottesville - the food is fun, inventive, and delicious, without being precious or too esoteric. The wait staff is friendly, and they love kids - so ignore what Yelp says about it not being a kid-friendly restaurant. Fact: Maya is named after one of the owners' daughters. Oh, and the drinks menu is fabulous. We highly recommend this restaurant."

"We had a nice time. We were quite early for the evening, and so the upstairs dining room had very few people in it. The food was quite good--we particularly liked the pimento cheese fritters. Parking near the restaurant is something of an adventure. If you're unwilling to pay, there's only street parking nearby, and the available spots are few and far between."

"We were greeted promptly, and had a great table. The service was friendly, fast, and attentive. The menu was great for all kind of tastes. From fish, chicken, beef, or vegan, they had a very good selection. We were very impressed and will make this a favorite,"

"The overall experience depends on which of the couple rates it. One liked their food a lot, the other not so much. Ambiance: Orange walls with very weird paintings. The menu on the website is out-of-date: "$11 Daily Special 7 days a week" - NOT true. A request to sit upstairs on the reservation wasn't observed. A group of six seated near us were loud and distracting, making us want to leave quickly. Service was excellent. So one person in the party liked eating there, the other doesn't care to go back again. (We have dined on the lovely patio in the past.)"

"It was fantastic! We started with the pimento cheese fritters. They were awesome! The peach martini was great, and my husband loved the Bold Rock hard cider. I had the special that evening (trout with crab) and macaroni and cheese, my husband had the new york strip and mashed potatoes. Both entrees were delicious! Our waitress was quick and attentive and very helpful with her suggestions. Overall I would highly recommend Maya!"

"Outstanding dining experience. My fiancé and I found it thru a random Internet search when visiting Charlottesville. Food was unbelievable, best southern food I've ever had, and I lived in Alabama for 3 years! Service was excellent. Highly recommended..."
