Kirby's Prime Steakhouse - The Woodlands
Continuing the legacy of Dallas' Original Steakhouse, Est. 1954, Kirby's Prime Steakhouse in The Woodlands, Est. 2004, is an award winning restaurant featuring Mid-Western, grain fed, aged prime beef. Kirby's also offers fresh seafood, daily features, and a spectacular collection of New and Old World wine housed in an impressive cellar of over 4,000 bottles. Kirby's boasts a trendy jazz bar and lounge featuring live music on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings. To compliment their excellent wine selection is classically trained Corporate Executive Chef Daniel Nemec. Chef Nemec seeks to introduce the culinary versatility of Kirby's cuisine to any and all diners. Guests can choose to dine lakeside or enjoy one of Kirby's imported cigars in the lounge while partaking in a glass of wine selected by certified Sommelier, Scott Griffin.

"We had a group of 4, and reservations. 2 members of our group had never dined at Kirby's before, and were very pleased with the meal and service and free valet. Parking was at a premium for a Tuesday night, that was the only hiccup.
The Naughty Girl martini is highly recommended, and they also offer Maker's Mark which made my dinner companions very happy indeed :-)"

"I have been to Kirby's mostly for special occassionsand primarily for Mother's day for the past few years. I am about 50/50 on good and outstanding for service and for food quality. Starting with valet, - first time ever, I felt almost as I was putting them out to park my car. Receptionist was great and seated us (by accident) at our favorite table. Was a wait till our waiter approached the table but not too bad. Once he got there it seemed he was in a big hurry to take our drink order and spit out the featured plates for the evening and get on his way. The main thing is that my wife loves the Sea Bass and it was excellent. However, the shrimp was overcooked on my Shrimp and Crabmeat Scampi. My boys meals were also mediocre."

"Food was good, not great. Waiter was inadequate, and even admitted it was his 2nd week. Upon entering the restaurant, I thought I had made a mistake and walked into Barney's Pool Hall! The smell of smoke was super heavy! Perry's got rid of smoking 2 years ago, and the only reason we were at Kirby's, was because Perry's was booked solid! This place isn't going to make it much longer, especially when you cannot even get to half capacity on Mother's Day!"

"Our overall experience was a very good, however, the hostess was very condensending and most unfriendly. When we requested a different table, she informed us that the tables were reserved in order of importance, implying that we were not important enough to warrant another table. Fortunately, I had eaten there on numerous other occasions and knew how wonderful the food is,so we stayed and the meal indeed confirmed my opinon of the food. Our waiter was awesome."

The noise level was way too high to enjoy conversation. Water person spilt a full glass of water on the table and nobody dealt with it. "It is clear that they are doing the old Woodland trick of parking expensive luxury cars in front of the restaurant to give it that swanky look. So our Honda Accord got parked out of sight. Since the lot in front of the restaurant was full, we were wondering if they would have moved a Mercedes had a Bentley rolled up?
The service, beginning with the Maitre’d was impersonal, cold, disengaged and indifferent.
We sat for a long time with just a glass of water. Bread arrived after the salad. The food was good, not mediocre and not superb. The cost of the meal was however top notch. $ 260.00 for entre and a bottle of wine for two. About $ 50.00 per person above what it would be at a comparable or better restaurant in the area."

"Food was great as always but out waitress wasn't that great. Instead of being offered another glass of wine we had to ask for it. Once something came out she never checked on us. We always order way too much and usually take he extras home but she cleared the table and didn't ask us if we wanted to take the items home. The gentleman walking around filling water and tea was great though. He kept them filled."

"My only complaint was the dress of the nearby dinners. I know you can't control this but it seems like you could have some rules or restrictions. We dressed up thinking that would be appropriate for a resturant of your quality and price. The 4 men seated next to us wore ratty jeans and one of them wore a baseball cap during the whole meal. That was just too much. I would have thought the manager could have at least asked him to remove it."

"Hostess, cute young woman, was flat rude. Set a bad stage for our first visit here.
Server Jenny was really good. Scott doubles as manager/sommelier, great as a sommelier, so-so as a manager. Solution was typical non-response: free desserts that we wouldn't have purchased anyway.
Seared sea scallops for appetizers. Relish to die for. Some of the best cooked scallops I've had in some time. Wife had wagyu filet, perfectly cooked, buttery taste. I had bone-in strip. Came out with (not kidding) a bone sliver smaller than half a penny. Jenny tried to sell me it was ok. Wife ate while they cooked me another.
Dessert (creme broulee w/berries and chocolate cake) was really good."

The dinner salads were bland and the salad dressings tasted like regular bottled dressing.
The redfish that my husband ordered was over cooked and dry."

"I had never been to Kirby's and had not heard a lot about it either. I received a $75 gift card and decided to go. The person going with me kept saying we would need some extra money but I just couldn't imagine two people for more than $75. OK, it is EASY to do $75 per person here BUT their portions are HUGE! We got one steak. Since it was boneless they were willing to split it in half and cook each half to our preferred temp. We got broccoli and a baked potatoe (which they split and made the way each of us wanted). We did only drink water but we got a HUGE piece of cheesecake to split for dessert! INCREDIBLE, and it only cost us $1.83 plus tip (over the gift cert). HIGHLY, HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND for a special occassion!!!"

"We were celebrating valentine's day a day late, so we missed the special meal options. However, we loved the wedge salid and the steaks were perfectly cooked and simply delicious. We tried the escargo, but were a little disappointed. Not much flavor in our opinion. We loved the special mashed patotoes and though we didn't have it, the jalapeno mac & cheese sounded wonderful. We'll be trying that next time."

"My husband & I frequent Kirby's often and love this restaurant. It has a great bar and a beautiful restaurant overall. We've always had fabulous meal here, however, the Valentine's dinner was a bit off. While my dinner was very good my husband ordered the bacon wrapped shrimp appetizer and lobster for his main. The appetizer was so salty I couldn't eat it and his lobster was over cooked. This is not usually the case for this restaurant. I think it was just a busy, off night. Certainly will not deter our future visit! We'll be back this week :)"
