Chef Emeril Lagasse’s new restaurant, e2 emeril's eatery, is located at the Levine Center for the Arts in uptown Charlotte. This casual American eatery features an eclectic selection of appetizers, salads, seafood and steaks, as well as some of Emeril's New Orleans and Southern-style dishes, homemade desserts and modern American classics with a twist.

"Convenient valet parking right at the front of the restaurant on a saturday night. The outside seating on the sidewalk can be great on a nice summer night. This restaurant was a bit loud for me but did not feel crowded. Service was very good and the meal was outstanding. Priced right with amazing favorite dishes. What a gem!"

"We made reservations and the staff here are always friendly. I have only been a few times but they hostess greets me like I own the place which is very nice. I recall one of our servers "Kelly" who was great and fun to have as our server. The really (really) tall white guy (server) was also great and very professional & friendly. Our friends were a little picky but they too enjoyed the food & bar drinks. I would come back as I love the service...the grasshopper is the bomb~!"

"My party arrived on time and we were seated promptly by the hostess. We had two servers covering our table, so drink orders were taken and filled quickly (and refills provided quickly). The lunch menu was not extensive but did offer a good variety of choices (beef/pork, chicken, seafood - not much for vegetarians). There were a number of specials and updates as well. Our food arrived after a reasonable period and while the presentation was good, the taste varied. The po' boy and Carolina flounder were both good, while the chicken breast was bland. Overall the experience was pretty good and I'll return to see if my second experience is consistent with my first."

"We have dined at Emeril's flagship restaurant in New Orleans and Lagasse Stadium in Las Vegas. Both of those establishments were superior. This new one in Charlotte has a long way to go for us to try it again. The service was not of the same caliber we expect from an Emeril restaurant nor were the menu options as many as the other places but what we did eat was acceptable - not outstanding as we have found at other places."

"Visited on a Friday evening with a group of friends. We made reservations and our table was ready when we arrived? Our food was really fresh and tasty. We ordered wood oven oysters, barbecue shrimp, salad and gumbo as appetizers. Each of them were great, but the oysters and shrimp were Devine! For entrees, we had shrimp n grits, fried chicken, flounder and pork chops. We also tried a speciality drink which was excellent. The favorite here had to be the pork chops (excluding the potatoes) and mac and cheese. They also serve rice grits which are outstanding! Excellent with the shrimp and fried chicken. Best grits ever. I have visited other Emerils restaurants in the past where the service is much better at those locations."

"We have been here 3 times and the food and service have been amazing each time without exception. Another aspect I really liked is that you don't feel rushed at all. They have a way of being extremely attentive but not pulling plates too soon. Our friends who came with us also loved their meals. As far as dessert..the banana cream pie is ridiculous! yum!"

"My husband and I were in the area for vacation and saw that Emeril had a restaurant close-by, so we had to try it out. The food was beyond Amazing and even more than what we expected (and we had high expectations). The Gumbo was worthy of his title and tasted delicious. We had the Sea Scallops and the Shrimp and Grits and both were mouth wateringly good. My husband and I were stuffed but couldn't leave anything left on the plate because it was soooo good!! I would recommend this restaurant to any of my family or friends who were going to be in the area. Definitely worth the money."

"My friends and I had a great dining experience at e2's. The Shrimp & Grits was excellent. We also thoroughly enjoyed the Baby Spinach and Strawberry Salad. The chocolate layer cake and the Honey Crisp apple Crepes were outstanding. An excellent meal and excellent service was had by all. They were mindful that we were attending the show at the Knight Theater. They validated our parking ticket. We will be back."

"Food was great, waiters could not have been more attentive, but it was a little noisy due to the Preakness being run on the bar TV as we arrived. It was a little pricey for our taste but the location adjacent to the Knight Theater was perfect. "We went for the first time on Mother's Day so there was a special brunch menu. Selections were limited but delicious. We had baked oysters as an appetizer and I had the shrimp and grits entree which were both delicious but fairly small portions. The banana cream pie was to die for and was a very large portion. The service was pretty good although some minor mistakes were made in the order. We were surprised at how many empty tables there were but it may be because they aren't normally open on Sundays. Location is great at uptown so we walked around afterward."

"The food is AMAZING!! Each of us ordered very different meals and shared at least one bite. Each selection was multi-dimensional with layers of flavors that did not overpower but rather compliment the previous flavor. The portion was outstanding; the price and wait time was what I expected. Presentation was over the top!
The greeter was friendly but did not offer any suggestions to make us comfortable while we waited. The wait staff was green. We had to ask for lemon (for our water) twice, our drinks were completely empty multiple times and never checked on us between the time we ordered our food and received it (at least 20 minutes). However, I will gladly look over this disappointment and return because the food was outstanding!!"

"Food for Mother's Day brunch was outstanding. The service was lacking. Our server never took our drink order, never introduced herself, and brought us our check instead of dessert menus. E2 has been slowly improving into an Emeril's quality restaurant, but they seem to have a hard time finding adequate staff. I do recommend keeping an eye out of their special occasion menus such as this one. The food tends to be outstanding."

"My husband and I went here to celebrate our one year anniversary. The bar was extremely loud but we were seated in the back where it was quieter. My husband ordered the duck. It was our first experience tasting duck and it was phenomenal!!! I would definitely order it again. We didn't see our server often but there was always someone stopping by to make sure we were taken care of. Our overall experience was fantastic."

Food very good. I am a lover of duck and this may well be the best I have had in both presentation and taste. Breast perfect and thigh/leg just the right crispness. My parents both said their food was great and the banana pie perfect.

"The best thing about e2 is the service. The waitstaff is very attentive. The wine list is nice, with some exceptional wines by the glass (e.g., Robert Foley). We had small plates; the roux in the gumbo was nut brown and flavorful; however, I like my gumbo with okra. The crawfish remoulade appetizer was excellent."

"This large and elegant restaurant is very convenient to the arts district. It has the feel of a hotel restaurant rather than the more intimate feel of a home town spot. My husbands pork chop he rated as excellent. My vegetable plate was beautifully presented but the sauce was so salty it was inedible. The manager said it was a hot "chipotle vinaigrette" sauce; honestly it tasted like capers tapenade. Awful! I sent it back. If you are a sales rep trying to impress clients this is the spot! If you want dinner before the show go to nearby Mimosa or Halcyon. Either would be a better choice than E2; we are not their target market."

"My fiancé, best friend, and myself went here for my 21st birthday since. I thought I would try the chefs tasting menu since the price wasn't bad compaired to everything else. For the first course the budain was impressive as well as the black eye peas. I don't like beans at all but for these were spot on! I couldn't get enough of them. Second course was the spinach salad and again I'm not a huge spinach fan more of a romaine but it was very well dressed and boy did it taste good! Third course was the filet and bone marrow overal I thought it was good. The marrow was cooked perfect the filet I ordered med rare I'm assuming was cooked sous vide, was perfect cooked, but the filet was warm not hot. Banana cream pie was to die for overall great!"

"The wait staff were attentive , wine was great . The food was very disapointing . I ordered the shrimp cocktail and it was 6 very small shrimp on a plate with an enormous amt of sauce . My salad was good . We were in a hurry because of a show so I did not notice that my friend did not eat her shrimp and grits , they tasted like a salt lick!!!

"This was a good place to go with my customer. The meal with wine for 3 was $260 (including tip). The food is very tasty and in keeping with Emeril, lots of flavor, spice, and high fats. We had Emeril's New Orleans Barbecued Shrimp, e2 house salad, Beet Salad, Shrimp and Grits, New Bedford Sea Scallops, Gulf Coast Drum, Emeril's Banana Cream Pie,Blue Corn Brioche Bread Pudding , Honey Crisp Apple Crepes, 2 wine flights and coffee. All the food we ate was enjoyable. The staff was friendly and efficient. Our "head" server was not knowledgeable about the food or wine (a mistake for a celeb chef's place). I would return when I have a craving for some serious carbs and fat and the flavors of New Orleans."

"I have being going to E2 for a while now and this last time was just terrible. The service was good, but all the food was not very good at all. The pork chop was almost sour and didn't have a very good flavor. The shrimp and grits was a salt bomb. I tried three of the desserts and none of them were any good... Overall very disappointed and won't be going back anytime soon."

"e2 was the perfect spot for celebrating my fiance's 60th birthday. We we're attending a show at the Knight's Theater and only had to walk across the street after dinner for the show. The food was delicious. We started with the barbeque shrimp and chicken thigh and waffle. I had the flounder and he had the sea scallops with the collard greens. The flounder was perfect and the scallops were very tender. We both had nothing but goods thing to share about our meals. Will definitely be going back to e2 soon!"

"Overall our experience was good but not great. We came in at 8pm for a "light bite" after a concert. Very disappointed in Gumbo of the Day -- more soup than gumbo. Definitely not the thick gumbo I've enjoyed at Emril's in New Orleans. Beet salad was excellent--nice tangy flavor and generous portion. Ordered Carpaccio as main course. Boring and very small plate compared to other restaurants in Charlotte and in other cities.Shrimp & grits was "OK". The best part was dessert - banana cream pie. Outstanding. Among the best I've ever eaten anywhere on the planet. Others in my . Service was a bit slow. Sat with water for awhile and finally had to ask for bread. When they finally arrives, rolls were excellent--warm and buttery."

"Overall a good 1st experience with e2. Nice setting a little away from the hustle & bustle of uptown but within the arts district. "Five of us were excited to try E2 for Easter brunch. No specials were offered for Easter brunch, just the normal breakfast/lunch menu. That was a bit disappointing. The service was attentive. The restaurant was not busy but it took a good 25 minutes after ordering for our food to arrive. Mind you we ordered nothing complicated; omlet, waffles, burgers.
Our food was not what one expects from an Emeril restaurant. My andouille/crawfish omelet was simply a dry, non-fluffy and bland omelet with the meat and some cheese folded in the middle of the eggs. Others had a waffle and toast that was burnt. The hamburger was good as were the banana foster pancakes.
Overall, our dining experience was very average"
