Arizona's Original Steakhouse.
Step through the copper entry doors and feel the warm authentic atmosphere of this classic American Steakhouse. Once adjacent to the largest feedlot in the world, the restaurant is a living history museum that documents Arizona's cattle industry with historical photos and a Western Art collection. Established in 1947, The Stockyards has been serving the best hand-cut aged steaks and prime rib for 65 years. The menu also features wild game, seafood, poultry, pork, and a wide variety of appetizers, salads and desserts. Be sure to visit the 1889 Saloon where you will find a solid mahogany hand carved bar, crystal chandeliers, and walls adorned with original murals that were painted in the 50's. "This was our first visit to Stockyards, and it will not be our last. From the moment we entered, we received personal attention, and our fabulous server, Alice, even took the time to explain the history of the place (as well as of the 1889 Saloon, both of which are beautiful in the "old West/cowboy way"). The ceasar salad was delicious, the shrimp cocktail and baked potato were just what we wanted, and the 16 oz. NY strip steak, according to my "other half," was perfection. He savored every bite (as well as, later, the pecan pie). We appreciated that Alice took the time to explain the "choice" cuts of meat, guiding us to the restaurant's finest selections. We HIGHLY recommend Stockyards, and our thanks to the staff for a great evening!"

"This is the second time I have had dinner with friends at the Stockyards. And each time the experience could hardly be improved. The staff is professional but warm and courteous. Above all the staff is interested in accommodating the customer's needs and wishes. Each time I had the rib-eye steak, my favorite steak. And each time it was cooked to perfection and the meat quite flavorful. I will keep going back as long as The Stockyards and their staff keep repeating their great food and service!"

"The wait staff and management here are always friendly and knowledgeable. they have an extensive wine list. The food is pretty good but nothing to original, except for the venison. The desserts are sad and need to have more originality and thought put into them. They always taste stale or almost store bought. I would love if they improved this. I enjoy the prime rib here and will continue to enjoy myself here!"

"We're a family of steak lovers - and we all agreed that our steaks might have been the best we've ever eaten. The prime rib special was outstanding - steaks cooked to perfection - with soup/salad, steak & side plus fantastic dessert (brownie was to die for...).
The filet mignon was extremely tasty and also cooked just right. The restaurant was little noisy, but we were there for Father's Day. Will definitely go back and would highly recommend that others try it!"

"Old West, Elegant West, the place where the ranchers of the West would congregate. I came to the Stockyards on business trips to Phoenix in the '60s, 70s and 80s to enjoy the atmosphere and great western cooking. None of that has changed. The Prime Rib is melt in your mouth good and the BBQ baby-back ribs are full of the flavors of the southwest, not too sweet with the bite of native spices -- yum. The cocktail lounge is elegant, a place where movies should be filmed. I expected to see Paladin sitting at the bar. The one thing that held back a five-star overall rating was that the service was rushed, the waiter more interested in table turn than service.
For you folks in Sun Lakes, its less than a half-hour using I10 and SR 143."

"I was a little leary driving there. I hadn't paid attention to where this is in town. I'm SO glad I went. The food was amazing, the service was incredible. I swear there is a gentleman whose only job is to make sure your water glass is full. He was amazing. My friend and I drink a LOT of water and neither of us ever had an empty glass. Our sever was super nice and never made us feel like were weren't important just because we were there for the Restaurant Week menu. They were so welcoming and friendly. The hostesses encouraged us to wander around after our meal to check out the photo's and history of the restaurant. If you are into that, which I am, it is very interesting. I absolutely love this place and will definitely go back."

"Our party visit The Stockyards Restaurant for the first time during Restaurant Week. We had great dinners, wonderful and very helpful service and enjoyed the ambience. The server and his assistants performed like a well trained team, with each knowing exactly who ordered each dish and refilling our drinks promptly. We will certainly be visiting The Stockyards for great prime rib and baby-backs, and outstanding desserts."

"In short, all the food from sit down to stand up and the pecan pie we took home was excellent. Everything seasoned perfectly, perfect temperature, we had ribeye and filet, both Amazing! The relish and breads at the table was best ever. If we were from AZ we would go there all the time, but as visitors from St Louis and Foodies extraordinar, we really agree with what we read about it before going, it really is in top 15 best Resturants in the USA!! Almost worth a plane ticket back for our Anniversary in June! :) BTW... We kept telling the waiter how good it all was and was all acting like I know it's good! They have the bragging rights to be strutting like that! Waiter was great too, but again he didn't need us to tell him how good it was."

"The moment we stepped inside the front Copper doors we were greeted warmly. It took less then thirty seconds till we were shown to a booth. Alice was our server and she was very helpful in recommending a wine to go with my 18 ounce Prime Rib. The recommendation was very good and I enjoyed two glasses with dinner. Alice checked with us to see if my wife's 20 ounce Porterhouse and my Prime Rib were prepared as requested. They were cooked perfectly. She continued to see if we needed anything else during dinner. History surrounds you at the Stockyards Resturant as does the quite atmosphere. One thing both my wife and I wish we had been warned of was the horseradish in the shrimp cocktail sauce, it was very strong. Overall excellent."

"This was our wedding anniversary dinner. My filet was great, but my wife's NY steak was tough and chewy. She is not the kind of person to make a scene, so she didn't tell me about it until the next day. I have had great lunches here, but I was disappointed in our dinner."

"Outstanding food and service. You know your steak is going to be good when they don't offer any sauces when your food arrives - the steak is so perfectly made that it doesn't need anything. If I had any criticisms, it would be that the whiskey and scotch selection is somewhat unimpressive. Perhaps I'm a bit of a whiskey/bourbon/scotch snob, but most of the choices were pretty basic. That small detail aside, it was a fantastic experience. This place is all about the food after all, and they do that really well. Can't wait to go back to try some of their other entrees."

"My nephew and I ended up getting the Buffalo Rib Eye for $75 a pop. We were really happy with the choice, cooked and seasoned to perfection! Service was really good, very comfortable seating and atmosphere. The Bar was really cool as well. We will definitely make this part of our spring training ritual moving forward. They also accept the Passport card, which is great because you get your 2nd meal complimentary. Since they include a Potato and Salad with your entree, Bread service and raw vegetables, you really don't need to order any ala carte sides, although we ordered the mushrooms and they were really good."

"We were looking for a good steak while in Phoenix and this place fit the bill. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and gave us just the right amount of attention. My husband ordered the 18 oz. Prime Rib which was cooked to perfection and served with a delicious au jus. I had the 8 oz. filet which was also cooked perfectly. I didn't care for the potato dish I ordered, but that was just a personal preference. We both had the chicken rice soup which was creamy and delicious. All the meals come with a basket of fresh bicuits and corn muffins. Both were very good. We did not order a dessert."
