Blue Plate
The Blue Plate opened December of 2007 and instantly gained a following of tourist and locals alike. Recently, we grew out of our small space and moved to a larger location and expanded the menu. Located just down the hill from Beaver Creek you can enjoy Schnitzel everyday, all natural Colorado steaks, fondue, and the numerous popular dishes Chef Adam serves up that have been a staple to the Vail Valley.

"The name "Blue Plate" reminds most Americans of the Blue Plate Diner name. A Diner is a low-cost take-out type restaurant. The food
is not "Diner or Blue Plate" like at all. The name doesn't fit the Austrian/American entrees. The ambiance reminds me of something out
of the 1960's. Again, doesn't fit the menu. The Filet, Bread and TriVento wine were delicious. The schnitzel was good with Ligonberry sauce but would be a better dinner entree with Spatzle and vegetables. The chopped ice berg lettuce could be served with a lunch not with a dinner entree. I think the name of the restaurant, decor, menu and the food should take on a more Austrian feel. Food was very good to excellent. The ambiance disconnected. Service was also excellent."

"Visited from out of town and chose to dine here at the last minute. I was not disappointed! I had a great glass of wine. Really enjoyed the Blue Salad and my entree was to die for. But, the best part of my dining experience was my waiter, Alex. He was outstanding! Very attentive, personalable and made great recommendations. I am hoping to get back for another dining experience before I leave town!"

"Delicious comfort food. I don't normally order chicken but was taken in by the roast chicken with a Meyer lemon sauce. It was served with mashed potatoes and sauteed spinach-yum. The server was very knowledgeable about the menu and was very helpful in steering us to menu items based on our preferences. I wouldn't say it was a "kid" restaurant, but definitely somewhere you can take kids who are used to eating out. The restaurant did offer kid-friendly menu options when asked. After a full day on the mountain, it was a perfect restaurant for a nice meal with a casual, relaxing, candle-lit atmosphere. We will be back."

"Well priced menu for quality and portions. Lamb 2 Ways was excellent and featured some unique flavors that I've not experienced before. The skin on the crispy duck was worthy of being a appetizer all alone. I'd like to see a few more of their wines available by the glass as the list of bottles is solid and large. One of the owners stopped by every table to say Hello, thank us for visiting, and check to make sure all was good. Overall, a great place to dine with prices far better than most comparable Vail Valley options."

"Cool venue and really yummy house made rolls had us ready for a great meal, but alas - it was quite average. French onion and special black bean soup were good. Weiner Schnitzel was fine, roasted chicken had an odd smokey flavor. Caesar salad had paprika liberally sprinkled on it - an unpleasant addition. Meatloaf was exceptionally dry and difficult to eat."

"The restaurant had a trendy vibe and the food was very tasty and inventive. However, there seemed to be a waitstaff shortage. The ambiance of the dining room was sophisticated yet relaxing. One complaint was that there was a very large group with lots of children who were shouting and making lots of noise and ruined the adult dining experience that we could have had. The staff did nothing to request some restaurant manners at the table. I would return but would be on the lookout to try to avoid be seated in the room with many children."

"Over rated. We were seated in the annex by the window. Halfway through our dinner the heat went off. We complained but the heat was never turned back on. Our waiter was not knowledgeable about the menu. We ordered a salad to share. The waiter should have told us that my husband's meal included a salad. My husband's medium rare lamb dish was cold. The lamb shoulder he expected was really lamb shoulder meat scraped off the bone and served as a croquette. The croquette tasted like it had been made hours before and reheated in the microwave. The special of the evening was trout. That was well served. We asked the waiter for a wine pairing. He recommended the most expensive glass of wine on the menu...give you a clue?"

"After being less than impressed when I visited last June, I was pleasantly surpirsed with this visit. Our server was amazing! Although he never told us his name so I can't refer to him personally.
