"It was a night when no regular waiters were available. The bartender was acting as Maitre D, water boy as waiter... so service was a nightmare, with meals going to the wrong table including mine. Normally, we would never to return. However, the bartender/waiter Shane, did his best to keep the ship afloat, made up for it and apologized profusively. In spite of this debacle, we will give them a second chance at some point because the food is exquisite, with generous portions for a reasonable price (I would even say cheap relatively to comparable restaurants). We had the onion soup, lobster bisque, salad, beef tartare, tournedos and rack of lamb. Everything was delicious, except for the onion soup which was a bit sweet but still good."

"The lovely ambiance, great location, and good food were greatly outweighed by the inadequate level of service and lousy bar. Our waitress was clearly overmatched, carrying way too many tables so unable to service any properly. We waited over an hour for the first food course to arrive. Cocktails were slow to arrive and were poorly made. We sent the mojito back twice - the first undrinkable due to lots of sour mix that doesn't even belong in a mojito at all, the second was overwhelmed with lime juice, so even adding sugar didn't help. My aviation had no discernable trace of Luxuardo liquor and lots of pink grapefruit juice in it (!?). We were told that the restaurant didn't have a single bottle of port in it, so we were out of luck."

"We were looking for a restaurant that did not have a special Valentine's day dinner planned before going to the Ballet on February 14th. Maestro did not have anything about a special dinner on their website and they had an open table. So we went looking forward to eat some of their dishes that they had on their menu. Once we arrived, they told us that they were only serving a special menu for Valentine's day and the cost was $75.00.We stayed and ate and the food was really so, so, definitely not worth $75.00 and the lady who was serving us was very nice but didn't know much about serving."

"Upon arrival we got seated very quickly in a nice sfotley lit area which was pretty nice scince it was valentines day. We got greeted by an older lady that was making remarks that made us uncomfortable but didnt mind. After the appetizer it went all down hill. Never had a server except that elder lady and werent getting any attention. The tables around us were getting water serve, food coming in nicely, and pretty much someone checking up on them. We had someone coming to us about every 25-30 and the worst part that ruined the night was our main course took almost an hour to come. We got there way before people around us yet we werent getting food nor service; not to mention it was not busy.Overall food was good and really bad service."

"Disappointing - the remodeling, the menu and the food.
We were excited to try the new restaurant in the old Star's site. We're often in the neighborhood and miss Star's and California Pizza Kitchen.
I don't know who designed the remodel, but those crystal chandeliers are not good in their placement or appropriateness,
One in our party ordered game hen which looked lovely on the plate but had no flavor. Another had the crab and avocado salad which was a strange flavor combination and was not edible

"Dining here was like being on a 3rd rate Baltic cruise. Bad steak tartare with ice cold french fries, mediocre ribs, average bisque.Out of half of the wine list and 2 of the entrees. Only 6 people on a Sat. night! Well meaning but unprofessional servers. Private party going on in the back with bad foreign disco which was inescapable. Staff intimated that it was all private parties most of the time. Interior decor is stripped down Trader Vic's. Feels like a Third World idea of luxury. Shockingly bad!!!!!!!!!"

"The food and drinks were really great. However, the sports bar-esque TVs over the bar (in full view of most of the dining room) were a bit distracting for a more formal meal. The restaurant seems like it is trying to define itself but wants to be too many things to too many people right now. Hopefully they will find their niche since the flavors and style of food (and its presentation) are lovely."

"We went on a Tuesday night and the restaurant and bar were about 1/3 full. The food was very good but not outstanding. The onion soup, which both of us had, had a sweetness that I had not previously encountered in onion soup. My wife's filet mignon and my duck confit were both well prepared. Service was good, although the server forgot a couple of things and had to be reminded. He was very conscientious and was trying hard. Overall, an enjoyable evening in a well-located space."

"Two over-sized bowls of soup came which we could not finish. I ordered lobster bisque. I got tomato cream soup. I ordered a filet steak which came as I ordered, but with french fries, not the mashed potatoes on the menu. (I don't like French fries, and didn't eat them.)Instead of a vegetable, I got a pile of small onions. Never experienced that one!
My husband also got French fries, but they brought him watery mashed potatoes at his request.
We will not return. The ambiance was cold as well as the temperature. We went at 5 p.m., and the very large place had not warmed up. One looks out on a very large, wooden, empty restaurant.

"This is a nice restaurant to use if you have tickets for a nearby venue. I had tickets to see "Wicked" and selected Maestro's because it was within walking distance to the Orpheum. We dined on a Tuesday night so it was not busy at all. The host greeted us warmly and did not mind that we asked for a table on the bar level. Our server was charming and attentive. Upon telling her that we had theatre tickets, she assured us that she would get us out in time for the curtain. She did! We had a delicious pear, candied walnut, gorgonzola cheese salad that we shared. My guest had the salmon and I had the short ribs. Both dishes were delicious and plentiful. We drank cocktails instead of wine and those were very nice as well. I would return."

"The service was the main problem here. They looked disorganized. We were not given the pre-theatre menu (when we asked why we didn't get one, the person said, "Did you ask for one when you sat down?" We had to ask?) No one told us of the specials for the night; we overheard them being given to another table.
We tried Maestro as a pre-ballet meal and ordered the pre-theatre dinner. Service was nonetheless slow.
Food was good."

"Arriving at Maestro at 6pm on a Saturday, and the restaurant was all but empty. It was difficult to see the entrance: The signage was not lit (it was after dark), the doorway small and un-remarkable--two of my guests did not find it.
Immediately seated, we were given 4 "wine menues." After about 5 mins, we opened it and found it was the complete menue, and it appeared to be a nice selection of each. Upon closer inspection, we found mis-marked wines-a Chilean wine, listed from California, etc.
Food was very good, but not great; service--literally, every 5-mins, someone asked how things were (after the first 4-times, it was annoying; server did not know how to pour wine, he just dumped it into our glasses all at the same time (no tasti"

"This is our second visit, and the service as well as the food seems to have declined a little. The filet mignon is still delicious and cooked just right, the short ribs was very tasty, but both were very heavy on the salt and made it hard to eat. Service, while it was attentive on the first visit, was just adequate. The bus person worked very hard and we appreciated it, but the waiter was too busy. The desserts there were way too sweet for our taste. Shrimp flambe appetizer and the onion soup were excellent though. Will try having appetizers for entrees next time."

"We had the salmon and mussels dishes. Very tasty, and very fresh. Also had the calamari hors d'oeuvres. It came with 2 different sauces: cocktail and creamy mayo based sauces. Both of the sauces seem to have relish in it, which made it somewhat unique. However, I would only rate the fried calamari as above average. Would I go again....yes....if I had another Groupon deal, since it can get quite expensive, even without any beverages."

"My son had a Groupon and brought me here as a Christmas present. Food was delicious (lobster bisque, rack of lamb and tournedos de beouf). Server (young Ukrainian man) was very attentive and pleasant. We will be back."

"We rated ambiance just OK and noise level quiet because we were in a separate overflow room with no decor. Boring, but the food was as wonderful as always."

"Even though the filet mignon we had was good, the menu was unfocused and the energy in the room was low. Why is a French bistro named "maestro," which is an Italian word? And to offer Turning Leaf Chardonnay, a mainstay of cheap liquor stores? We probably won't return."

"As we stepped into Maestro's I was excited that I would have an exceptional eating experience. The diningroom was nicely and invitingly lit. From the minute we met our waiter, however, I knew the meal was going to be a little wierd. After a lengthy wait, he came to our table, mumbling to us about a complimentary drink but then he just sort of stood there waiting to take our order. Orders took too long to get to the table and my main dish appeared 20 minutes before my friend's! While we waited for our mains the waiter appears with a tray of escargot saying it was on the house. Later, when the bill came, he had charged us for it.
Maestro's is a restaurant aspiring to be haute cuisine. The food, service lack refinement. Wierd.
