"Was I disappointed. First time I went to Frankies I had a tasty steak that was chewable, that was a few years ago. This time I got blackened shoe leather instead of a Ribeye and I asked for medium. It was done medium but the outside was too charred and the meat was very tough. I get better steaks at Costso for 1/5th the price I paid.
The creamed spinach and mashed potatoes were so so and the brocolli was underdone, if I had wanted raw I would have asked for it. The iceberg wedge was ok for your Aunt Minnie's table but not for the $9 price. I think they used a blue cheese dressing like Maries but not quite as good. And the blue cheese crumbles were probably Kraft.
I would accept it from a friend but at $42/steak? No way."

"Perfectly cooked awesome rib-eye. Seared deliciously and medium rare. Lamb chops serving huge and also cooked perfectly. Mushrooms and Demi glacé with lamb infused with rosemary. Bread pudding was superb ending."

"Ourstanding service, very nice atmosphere, suberb wine list. It is overpriced but the service takes some of the sting away. We didn't order the steaks for which they are known, but my salmon was overcooked, Nine dollars for a baked potato is too much. Not a place to go for healthy food. While we had a nice time, probably won't go back any time soon."

"After reading some iffy reviews I was concerned about going someplace that typically costs $100pp. But my worries were allayed because everything was fantastic! The service was impeccable and our plates for each course were cleared immediately. It was my son's birthday and everyone, including the manager, came up to him to wish him a Happy Birthday. They even gave him a free dessert. As for the food, there is nothing I didn't love. Two of the three of us asked for light seasoning, based on other reviews, but all three of us loved our steaks and overseasoning was not an issue. The crabcakes and crab dip had huge, yummy chunks of crab meat. Everthing was wonderful! The only complaint I have is there is no valet. :)"

"I would recommend Frankie Rowlands. There were only a couple of negatives. We did have a reservation, but still had to wait about 20 minutes before we were seated. The noise level was quite a bit too high. Although it didn't bother me that much, i can see where elderly people would have a hard time enjoying themselves due to all the background noise. It was hard to hear people at your table talking. The service was excellent as was the food. I hope to be back soon."

"The Rib eye center cut steak I had was tough and maybe too thick for cooking properly. Poor choice on my part but I was told by a server that is was a special that evening.
I was told that their steaks were great. My last visit I had a filet mignon and it was excellent. I should have ordered what I knew was good.

"I had been to FR several times previously. The service was poor, forgetting 3 or 4 X to bring something we requested. Other tables appeared to be receiving their food when I knew they ordered after us. They seem to be disorganized a bit. I probably should have known before, but my kids are in their teens and have been everywhere, but this was probably the worst for them. Lobster bisque was mediocre at best. My steak was good and the seafood trio was good when it arrived."

"Went for a special Anniversary night out. Steak was VERY Good, everything else was good but for the prices not what you would expect. Potatoes Au Gratin was good but too salty for me; my husband thought they were fine. Room was nice but paint was peeling off the ceiling. Waitress was OK but talked so fast we didn't understand much of what she was trying to explain. Decided to split entrees so we could have a surf and turf. Shame on me for not asking up front what a small lobster tail would cost. It was $72! and nothing special, watery butter served with it. I was shocked at our bill almost $200 having only water to drink and no dessert. So unless you are one of those lucky people who have a lot of money to spare I wouldn't go."

"Very impressive dinning. One can tell that preparing beef is the chiefs expertise as my filet was prepaired exactly as ordered. "As a party of 2,we were seated promptly in the location requested, and our server arrived quickly and took our drink orders. An "upselling" approach was evident during the subsequent discussion of the menu and wine list. The server neglected to remove unneeded glasses from the small table set for 4, which was a distraction. Appetizers averaged about $13, wine was a minimum of $10 per glass, and the majority of the steaks were priced at almost $50 each; vegetables were an additonal $9 per serving. The restaurant was fairly busy and the food service started a little slowly, but it got on track as the meal progressed. The baked brie appetizer was excellent, and the rib eye steak was very good. This is a special occasion restaurant."

"nice ambiance, good service but the food was a disapointment (visiting town and had been recommended). My husbands steak was burnt on one side and not very tasty; wrong salad was delivered. My oysters, though tasty were not chilled enough(and being an oyster eater for 55 years, I know the best taste/conistency is brought out by the right chill), and my beef steak tomoato salad was horrible - cheap (processed)mazarella and over ripe tomatoes lacked much more than a sprinkle of fresh basil that was overpoweed by the balsamic taste. My lamb chops were very good...but I had been very specific about preparation when I order so that put the chops on the chefs radar. I may try again when I return on business...maybe just an off night."

"The food was excellent. The prices are on the higher end, but the food quality and quantity make up for it. Honestly a couple would have plenty of food by ordering one salad and one main course and splitting it. As for the sides I would recommend ordering one per person."

"We were highly impressed by everything at Frankie Rowland's. The food was amazing yet the prices were not extremely high. The staff was friendly and very knowledgeable. We were seated before our reservation time, did not wait to long between courses, and thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience. We will definitely be going back and soon."

"This was our favorite place to dine but the last three times we had dinner there we had to send back at least one steak. That totally ruins the dining experience. Not what we expected. They have gone down hill over the past year or two. Not happy!"

"VERY SLOW
Are party of three was seated at a long table which made conversation difficult. Service was average until a large group came in and we took second fiddle. Salad, steak w/side, and desert took 3 hours...... Extremely slow service......
Main dining room was so loud we could not talk amongst ourselves.

"Most notably, this restaurant is a high-end, very pricy, Á la carte style dining establishment that has a good atmosphere, great food and attentive wait-staff. Known for their fantastic martinis and juicy, cooked-to-perfection steaks, the experience of eating here is definitely worth the price. We dined here recently during “Restaurant Week” in Downtown Roanoke. Normally, a meal for two, including cocktails, would run anywhere from $150.00 - $200.00. But, during “Restaurant Week”, Frankie Rowland’s offered a three-course meal for $30.00. It was a limited menu, but four appetizers were offered, three entrées (one steak, one seafood (or chicken), and one vegetarian), complete with two sides and a choice of three different dessert. A+!"

"We visited Frankie Rowland's during restaurant week, and I was pleasantly surprised. As a vegetarian, I expected another night out at a steakhouse with a baked potato and a salad. The vegetable napoleon was terrific, well seasoned, not overcooked, and of course everyone enjoyed their steaks!"
