"This restaurant is consistently excellent. We visit frequently and the food is always fresh, delicious, and authentically Italian, and the service is outstanding."

"Took my mother here for an early Mother's Day dinner. When I tried to park in the parking lots, the valet guy stopped me and told me it was valet parking only. Later after asking the manager, he said it was because the valet guy could not understand English. Fishy. Oh wells, I paid for the valet anyways. I don't want something like this to ruin my mom's dinner. We ordered a salad, a calamari, a risotto, and a penne pasta. The food was just okay. Not the best Italian I've had around the area. The first waiter who approached us to tell us the special courses of the day had such a heavy accent that I understood probably only about 30% of what he said. Plus he spoke super fast! Overall experience was below expectations. I would not go again."

"Went with a group of co-workers to celebrate a birthday. Most dishes were good. The eggplant parmesean and the lasgna portions were very small. It was small enough to be mistaken for an appetizer. However, I loved fresh, homemade pasta and the variety of specials. It was nice that my co-worker received a slice of flourless chocolate birthday cake."

"we live in the neighborhood and have had drinks at the bar there a few times ( Ruben the bartender is great!) but never sat for dinner. We did just that on Saturday night and thoroughly enjoyed the meal and the service. Nothing like having professional waiters. He created and experience for us, even beyond coming up with a special salad/appetizer for us. Great night. We will be back...soon!"

"Outstanding service. We wanted a quiet spot for a lunch discussion and were given a whole room to ourselves, away from the crowd. We enjoyed the specials including pumpkin soup, lobster salad with melon, chilean sea bass and swordfish. Mario brought us little tasted of amuse bouches and dessert. Altogether a lovely time."

"I had high hopes for this restaurant after reading great reviews. However, I didn't think it was very good. I had lasagna bolognese that was gummy and a tad salty. My husband had ravioli with quail's egg inside that was overcooked and otherwise unremarkable. The kids had pasta and seemed to enjoy their dishes. The desserts (lemon tart and a flourless chocolate cake) were not good, not sure what happened since the tart crust was like a rock and the merengue was dry. The wine, a pinot noir, was really good - the best part of the meal aside from the bread. I really do not understand all the fuss about this place. It was totally packed too so I guess we are in the minority on this."

"This is the real deal for Italian food, wait staff, chef, etc. We came to Celestino during Pasadena's Restaurant Week to try the 3 course fixed price dinner as a trial run. We had to ask for the special menu, which was less than exciting. After ordering from it, our stock as diners dropped drastically. The fava bean soup appetizer was okay, the antipasto plate tasty, not dazzling. Main course entrees of veal filled ravioli and a mushroom risotto were very basic, not special. Dessert was tiramisu or panna cotta, both very good. Our $35 meal ended up $55 each by adding a glass of wine and decaf cappuccino. It was, in our opinion, not good value for price & prefer they not participate in PRW at all. No encouragement to return."

"They were very friendly and helpful about allowing our (temporarily homeless, but well-behaved) dogs sit next to our back patio table. The dogs could enter through the back without breaking any health rules and the other diners were very accepting and warm. Food was very good: the burrata was the real thing, and the gnocchi seemed firm and well sauced. All the Chiantis were DOCG--even by the glass, and the prices were reasonable."

"Celestino exceeded my expectations. I have been to other restaurants of the Drago family, and was happy to find that this one is just as good as the others.
Our waiter was excellent, a thorough professional. He recommended a very good wine as a pairing with our food choices, and helped us in our decisions of our meal choices.
Although the restaurant was crowded, it was quiet enough so that you could hear your companion speak.
I look forward to my next visit."

"I'm not sure who the elderly gentleman was that ran from table to table - for all I know he could be the owner - but he was incredibly rude. We were asked at least 1/2 dozen times if we wanted wine - and we said no each time - as no one was in the mood. But he made a big scene about us not drinking by asking us over and over and then grabbing all the wine glasses off the table - knocking my father's walker over - and no apology ever. Then asking us again if we wanted wine. In general a very unfriendly experience that we will not be back - although we did enjoy the food - which was pricey in my opinion."

"We usually order an appetizer, main course and dessert splitting the appetizer and dessert. However, at Celestino's we were able to split 4 courses and the portions were large enough to satisfy us all. We had the insalata rustica, risotto special with ground sausage, sole and panna cotta. Our friends had the same courses but had a wonderful special salad with roasted artichokes. We were all very pleased with our meals, the cocktails, wine and after dinner coffees. Very nice and priced very reasonably."

"Very busy night made for a little slower service but understandable. The table of four next to us was extremely loud and a little bit obnoxious which detracted from the meal. The seafood salad and the artichoke salad were both outstanding and so tasty, we all loved our main courses too. If you are only a slight fan of saffron, be careful as the black and white pasta with saffron tends to be very vibrant. No complaints as it was perfect for a Saturday night leisurely dinner. Thanks to the entire crew."

"I really love this place and foods. It's as good as Italian restaurants in Japan! Believe it or not, Italian restaurants in Japan are far more authentic than those in the US. We understand the concept of Al Dente because Japanese food also has noodle culture like Udon and Soba (buckwheat noodles). Average American restaurants serve pasta too overcooked like baby foods. But this restaurant serves them just right! They even speak Italian!!"

"Dependably pleasant meal in Pasadena with good value. Very good homemade pastas and risottos. Appetizers are good too -- esp. the scallops and white beans. My appetizer special--lobster on puree of fresh peas-- was beautiful and delicious, with the ample seafood cooked just right. Panna cotta is the perfect silky texture. Good place to enjoy Italian wines. Italian waiters are attentive, friendly and accommodating. Good lunch spot too! they have been in business a long time, but it has not grown worn or tired like some."

"The food and ambiance were very very good. The service however, fell short a bit. It took the waiter quite a bit of time to show up, and when he did he sounded a bit curt and moody. Also. the bus boys were in a hurry to send us on our way, even though we wanted to stay longer! It was barely even 10:00 PM at that time, that too on a Friday night! Not cool at all!"

"I asked for assistance with my wine selection and got a great find that wasn't even on the list! Also we wanted to share several selections and they gladly split Waco one. Ultimately we order too much food because there was so much we wanted to try. The portions were much larger than what one might expect in Italy."

"This was a great dinign experience. The service is amongs the best I have ever expenrsined. The waiters were attentive without being anoying and the busboys and runners worked as a team with the waiters. The waiter patiently explained our choices and was very flexible about how our pasta was prepared. Overall an excellent choice for a fine meal, great service and a relaxed atmosphere. Now one of of my favorite picks for the area."
