The Academic Bistro is the centerpiece of Drexel's Hospitality Management, Culinary Arts, and Food Science programs. Students taking courses in hospitality management and culinary arts utilize the Academic Bistro to rehearse the skills that will prepare them for a successful career in hospitality and fine dining.
During the Fall, Winter, and Spring terms, the restaurant is open to the public on the days service courses are running, providing a delicious meal that demonstrates the students' creativity, planning, and preparation of food as well as the front and back of the house expertise that they are learning in the program.
Students prepare all meals from scratch, as much as possible, from sauce stocks to ice cream, using the freshest, highest quality ingredients. No two meals are the same and are guided by the rule of thumb that all must be delicious and visually appealing.
"Great food, nice atmosphere. It's a true learning laboratory for Drexel students. And, they accept Drexel's Dragon Dollars for payment which is very nice."

"I like the room, because is comfortable, lighting was fine. Every time I go I am pleased with the atmosphere and service. I enjoyed the appetizer, very crunchy and the basil gave a nice finish touch to it. My soup was hot but I would have like a bit hotter. I do not care for desserts so the ice cream was so so to me. Service was excellent, he was friendly and was right on top of everything. Making sure of the drinks, and he did time very well between dishes."

"Completely operated by the Hospitality and Restaurant Management students from Drexel University, I have never been dissappointed with the service or food at the Academic Bistro. $10-$12 three or four course prix fixe lunch on Wednesdays and Thursdays during the term, occasionally a weekly dinner at about $20. Every day is a new culturally authentic theme ranging from Chinese to New York Italian to Middle Eastern to Mexican. Slightly drab dining room with seating for 30. What it lacks in decor it makes up for with jovial atmosphere, kind service, and great food at a more than reasonable price. The bar hight two tops offer a great view of the Drexel campus and University City."

"I enjoyed the dinner, the room was pleasant. Very friendly atmosphere. The appetizer had very good flavor. Although the corn bread was not bad, I felt that it was a bit cold and dry. The main entree was very tasty. The dessert was excellent, moist and I could had taken a second piece. Service was excellent, friendly and very prompt to assist us."

"The food and service at the Bistro was great! A real value. And very timely service. You get in served and can be done in an hour. It was great! I think you should advertise it more so that more people know about it and take advantage of it. It is too bad that this great food and service is not enjoyed by more people at Drexel and around Phillie. Why would you pay $7-8 on the street for a cheap lunch, when you could get a GREAT meal in a timely fahsion for not much more."

"I had a Valentine's Day Prix Fixe here that consisted of mixed greens with a raspberry vinaigrette, stuffed pork loin with sauteed green beans and some kind of delicious potatoes and a whole plate of desserts. It was probably the best meal of my life. The service was fabulous and there was COMPLIMENTARY iced tea and strawberry drink. I was in heaven, as was my best friend. Keep up the good work!"
