Copia Restaurant and Wine Garden
Copia is the Roman goddess of abundance, wealth, pleasure and harvest. Copia is a daily celebration of fantastic wines, an abundance of tantalizing food, great friends and memorable experiences. In wine, we find good health, enjoyment and a plentitude of pleasurable memories. Copia’s urban winery concept is unique as it "brings the spirit of the vineyards to the heart of downtown St. Louis.”
OUR SPACE
Copia exhibits warm hues, exposed brick walls and natural wood beam ceilings. The open display kitchen is situated at the back of the restaurant, while a beautiful glass waterfall separates the main dining room from the bar. The dining room's elegant ambiance also extends to our unique Wine Garden patio.

"Copia has always been a favorite lunch place for us until our last visit. The grilled cheese and tomato soup were barely lukewarm and the serving size of the tomato soup was about a third of what it normally was. The grilled chicken and marinated vegetables looked like a kids meal - it barely covered a fourth of the plate. Most our of party left hungry and unsatisfied."

"We had a group reservation. In our group we had two gluten-free and one with severe food allergies. The restaurant was very accommodating to all of our requests. Wine selection was superb."

"great food but our server was very slow. Said he had a lot to do. took a long time to get drinks, place order and have dinner. Pretty place, very good wine list and delicious food. Maybe they were short staffed. Also, on Open Table, it said there were no tables til 7:45. When we got there at 7 there were at least 6 open tables and they didn't fill them all evening. We were coming at 7 to have a drink at the bar but they seated us early."

"I have been toCopia many times but it is usually for lunch. I have never had anything I didn't like here. The food has always been top knotch and like their menu. We went there for dinner recently and the food was excellent. I had the voodoo shrimp and jambalaya and I have to say it was some of the best jambalaya I have had. My wife had the scallops which she was raving about and they were very good, cooked just right with a great presentation. My only complaint is the prices. For dinner, I really think they are over priced. A couple of drinks and two entrees for dinner and you are topping $100 and there servings are fairly small. We like the wine garden. Very open. Service was fine."

"Last Thursday was the first time that I or my fiancee had ever been to Copia. The service was excellent, his name was Ronnie. He was very knowledgeable regarding the menu's and the wine list. He was extremely professional and courteous. As far as the food, it was delicious and was totally worth it. I will be back to Copia soon. They are in the running for my new favorite 5 star restaurant in the St. Louis Metro area!"

"The food was okay but not outstanding. Our server was not great. He seemed very "scatterbrained" and did not really listen carefully. He did not really take time with us.
For the cost, I would probably not return. It was expensive and I expect to be "wowed" when I pay that amount of money. I was satisfied but certainly not "wowed".
Seating us on a "couch" was not the best choice. With mixed couples - men and women - I would have sat us at a table so none of us were on a couch. I would put all female groups on a couch setting. We had reservations and felt like we should get better seating.
I don't think I will return or recommend you to a friend."

"For a restaurant claiming to have a focus on wine, this place is terrible. It took 45 minutes to get our wine. The excuse was that the "sommelier was chilling it." Never saw the "sommelier". But the waiter walked around to several tables while carrying our bottle of wine. They also use stemless glasses, one kind for all. Not appropriate unless you like to warm your wine with the heat of your hand. Further, the glass was too large for whites and too small for cab or merlot.It took another half hour to get our food. Had to ask for bread. The food was only average, certainly not worth $130 per couple.They also put us in the back room, which was kind of like a warehouse when the more attractive front was half empty. Large screen tv's with hocky"

"A Living Social deal brought us in to Copia; I'm not sure I would have gone otherwise. This inside of the restaurant is much brighter than you'd imagine an upscale dining venue. The decor seems a bit hodge-podgey, including dresses on headless manequins. It took us a long time to get served initially, even though there seemed to be about 8 people roaming around. Our server was very friendly, but a bit forgetful. She took our drink orders and returned quickly with our bar drinks, but it wasn't until the wait staff delivering our appetizer arrived and I had to ask again for water that we received it. The appetizer, arrancini balls, was delicious. Gooey and cheesy on the inside, crispy crusty on the outside."

"We have been here several times before, which were all excellent, but this was a disappointment. Poor waiter service, no silverware until we asked for it after the appetizer was placed on the table, no bread and butter offered. I ordered prime rib, medium rare and was served an end cut. That's just not acceptable. the side dishes served with the meals were cold and the waiter took over 5 minutes to bring replacements, which by that time, we didn't need them. Because we've had fine meals there in the past we will give it another try before we write this place off"

"While the menu was excellent, service was obtrusive. Both our steak and the bacon in our bacon wrapped scallops arrived undercooked. Entrees arrived before steak knives. The wine list is however excellent. For the price, we would have expected better service."

"It may have been perfect if someone hadn't pulled the fire alarm at the establishment next door. Unfortunately it affected Copia as well. Started with the Copia Salad which was in a very light but tasty balsamic vinaigrette. We then had their special cheese plate which had an excellent manchego as well as a very nice asiago. All complimented with fresh berries, praline walnuts and dried cherries and cranberries. For the main course, I had their signature scallops over risotto. The risotto was very good, but presented as a cake and therefore a bit dryer than most. Scallops were very flavorful and tender. The dessert tray was very appealing. Two of my colleagues had the creme brulee and the other had ice cream. I had the Balvenie Carribean."

"These guys have it down. We ate in the wine garden this time. Jenna did an outstanding job taking care of us. The crazy part is we were just about down with dinner before we realized she was taking care of the bar, too. She didn't miss a beat. The food was perfectly prepared and served with great timing. Nice wine list with a surprisingly low price for everything. We got a bottle that was pretty decent for just $35. I saw the same bottle for sale, today, at Schnuck's for $29.50. That's a pretty low markup for a nice wine. Keep up the great work, we'll be back!"

"I had the steak diane which was two 4 oz filet medallion with a demi glaze, yukon mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetable and my husband had the prime rib. They were both very, very good and the portion was huge."

"service was really good from the time we walk into copia till we leave the place, great table by the fire place, good wine recommend it by the waiter.
appetizers great, my wife's entree was 4 points, but nothing is perfect, my ribeye was overdone, i asked for medium well , but wasnt that way.
i didnt complaint on the moment didnt want to ruin the good moment i was having with my wife,. but now i have the chance.

"One of the best meals I have ever eaten. My husband had the pork chop, wow!!! close to 2" thick and very juicy. flavor was amazing!!! I had the Ahi Tuna, delicious! I would recommend this to anybody who enjoys wine and something a little different to eat. Oh, and the Bread Pudding? To Die For!!!!!"

"Although the service was good and the atmosphere was nice the food was fair at best for the price. My husband ordered the lobster and asked what the price was and the waiter said it was approximately $60. We had a coupon so he thought he would splurge for his birthday. When we received the bill we noticed the price for the lobster was actually $77! When he mentioned it the waiter looked surprised and checked the bill and said he would talk to the manager and that the other day it was $60. He did come back and said he took our drinks off the bill which was fine with us but we felt that a waiter should always know the prices of the food especially the market prices of the seafood every day and if not go back to doublecheck."
