The historic 250 year old Old Swedes Inn has been reborn as Tavro 13, with acclaimed Chef Terence Feury helming the kitchen. The Colonial building at 1301 Kings Highway in Swedesboro, NJ hosts a variety of dining options, from a 55 seat fine-dining room, a lounge featuring live music, an expansive bar, and a banquet room ideal for private parties.

"My guy and I had a very lovely dinner and we extremely pleased with the food. It was absolutely the best strip steak I've tasted anyway and the King Salmon was just as wonderful. Nice please. Wait staff is very attentive"

"We ate at Tavro13 for Mothers Day. The brunch menu was limited and there were only 1 or 2 breakfast options. There were 6 of us and only 5 of our meals came out together. It was 10 or 15 minutes before the 6th came out. The food was ok but not great. I asked several times for some tomato and lettuce for my burger and the server did not check on if the kitchen sent it out until after I was done eating. They didn't. No adjustment was made to our bill for these oversights.
Positives: The decor is fun and contemporary and there was live music which we enjoyed. The bar did a good job on the drinks. With either better food or lower prices and a better trained wait staff, it could be a great regular place to eat."

"We live 2 minutes up the road and we are very happy this spot is so close by. We ate pretty late and the food was still very good. We didn't feel rushed and our server was awesome. The cocktails were excellent and the bar was great. We will be back again for sure."

"It was busy that evening and we sat outside. I had heard great things about the restaurant and was excited to eat there. We drove 45 mins to get there. I think our waitress was inexperienced. She was all thumbs and spilled a significant part of my martini. That turned out ok since it was mostly water anyhow. The food was mediocre and uninspired. I wouldn't go back and certainly wouldn't drive that distance."

"This is a wonderful restaurant with very innovative menu. The food is expertly prepared,tastes incredible and the presentation worthy of any fine restaurant you could name. Such a gem in an area that is trying hard to gentrify. Parking is somewhat rustic and I'd like to see a paved lot instead of gravel but that is a small matter actually. We have dined there now 6 times and have never been disappointed. Food is pricey but worth it. Cocktails are quite reasonably priced."

"We went on Motthers day with a party of 8. The service was excellent, food was great, atmosphere was unique. Overall I really enjoyed the experience. The only drawbacks, the portions are really small and the prices are just to high for those small portions. I would definitely go back, but next time I'd probably eat a small meal before going and than just enjoy drinks at the bar, which were also over-priced so only one or two while enjoying the atmosphere. If not for the small overpriced portions, I would of given it 5 stars."

"The food was delicious. Service was great. Not fond of the interior re-do. I think they should have left some of the "colonial" feel to the restaurant like the way it used to be. Even with updating it to look contemporary, they should have gone with more neutral colors. Don't like the red and black all over the place."

"The food was great, the food that was offered. No typical appetizers. Selection for teens was very limited across the menu. Hard to enjoy a family dinner as a result. But, for special occasions this was a nice place. We dressed up and went out as a family. The price was reflective of big city prices surprisingly. But, all in all we enjoyed ourselves."

"Decided to go for a pre-Mother's Day dinner on Saturday.
Tavro13 was one of the best dining experiences that I've had outside of NYC. Our server, Anthony, was fantastic and the food was prepared perfectly. I had the pork belly for an app, and duck as my entree. Delish! My Mom had the Halibut, and the oysters to start. My Dad had the radish salad followed by the pork chop. The pork chop was HUGE!
We were quite pleased and discussed returning at a later date. My parents are still relatively new to area and are still trying to navigate the Southern NJ/SE PA world to find decent eating establishments. I believe they will certainly be back and bringing along their friends. Definitely worth it and in such a quaint setting."

"The decor was a bit unusual for an old inn type of place. Beautiful wood paneled walls but the seating was a somewhat garish red/orange color with some areas not having a full backrest.
Later in the evening on Saturday the music from the bar got a bit noisy.
The server was informative and attentive. The food was attractively presented and the menu was imaginative. All in all I would recommend dining at Tavro13."

When making a reservation be specific on seating request. Our reservation was made for "The Restaurant" and we were seated in the bar area?...not the quiet, romantic restaurant area we were expecting. Now that we are familiar with Tavro 13 we will make our reservation with a specific seating request, as the manager could not accommodate our request to be moved into the much quieter section. Overall a refreshing alternative to going into the city, we are looking forward to returning."

"The food and service were great. Whoever is making the desserts is truly talented. I have have dined at some of the finest restaurants in the country, I.e., Le Bernardin, The French Laundry, etc. and my olive oil lemon cake would have been right at home in either place. My two criticisms are that some of the tables are WAY too close together and that chef is sometimes a little over zealous with Middle Eastern spices on lamb dishes. Overall, it is a very good restaurant and I would definitely go there again."

"The service was great! We were a coupkes for dinner. Three of our four mains were very good. One of the party had problem with pork dish that could not be prepared at desired cooking temperature. After the second time , it was finally revealed that the request could not be met. It would have been better that we were told that up front and ordered another dish.

"I've eaten here four times now and love this little hidden gem. Tucked into the sleepy town of Swedesboro, NJ is a restaurant that you could easily find in Philly or New York. Small plates but extremely tasty. The bar scene is almost better than the restaurant with an extremely cool menu and some of the best local beers on tap. Will keep coming back over and over."

"We frequently dine at Tavor 13. The oysters are always the best as well as the King Salmon. This time, I had the Lamb Belly - it was so delicious. I just loved it! The restaurant's food has always been great since our first visit, the service is now good; however, the atmosphere is still all wrong to have an overall Outstanding rating. Little changes to the decor would help, for example, new chairs instead of the red barrel chairs - maybe a wooden chair with cushions with a great pattern and art work and/or mirror -something on the black wainscoting would soften the room.
Although, you should still go to Tavor 13 for the great food!"

"Overall, our experience was so, so. Our reservation was for 7:45 pm and we were not seated until almost 8:30 pm. The hostess did offer and pay for our bar drinks, however the 45 minute wait for our table was too much for us. The waiter, who was young was obviously poorly trained- we asked him what was in a certain food and he had no idea, in fact he picked up the menu and read it to us. The fish was good, not memorable. We were regulars at Striped Bass in Philly when the chef cooked there and felt the food could have been a little more inventive. We'd return, but only if we were in the area."

"We attended for restaurant week which was a great way to try out this new restaurant. Three of the four in our party ordered from the fixed price menu while I ordered a la carte. The food was good but not really exceptional. The service was impecable and the ambiance was ecclectic and fun! We will try again when it's not restaurant week."

"Food was wonderful. Service was great. My only complaint was that we were seated near the bar area, near a back door that everytime it was opened we were hit by a blast of cold air. Would have preferred seating in the main dining area near the fireplace. But will go back and give them a second try."

"You did not need the fireplace on that evening. The dining room was too warm and your patrons did not want to sit near the fireplace. The food was exceptionally good and the service provided by Ms Nicolosi was very good."

"We went during restaurant week. The food and service were excellent. the decor is extremely ornate in the bar but in the dining room, it is all black and red like a diner; it doesn't feel like a place for fine dining. tables are jammed together so you can't have a private conversation and the seating is so uncomfortable unless you are very tall...I had to roll my husbands overcoat into a ball & place it behind me so I could lean back. It's almost like a fast food restaurant adhere they make you uncomfortable so you'll leave quickly."

"Sat in the "porch" room. Corner table a bit cramped. Squash soup was velvetty.Beet salad with blue cheese mousse was beautiful and delicious. Green salad was fresh with good vinaigrette but could have used a more fennel and orange segments.Chicken pallard was tender and juicy with delightful crispy potatoes. Halibut was light and flavorful and cooked perfectly. Short rib had a great "crust" on the outside and tender inside. Service was a bit haphazard. After dinner coffee came but desserts, which were scrumptious. took so long to come out we needed even more coffee."

"We made reservations for a Friday night without realizing it was SJ Hot Chefs week! We were lucky enough to be there on the last night and both got the $35/4 course option. The food was delicious and they had a lovely Malbec to go with it. Service was excellent and placement next to the fireplace was perfect since I forgot to bring my sweater in (I am always cold). This is a wonderful find in South Jersey! We usually head into Philly for our anniversary dinner and were so glad we gave Tavro 13 a chance. We will definitely be back!"

"I stumbled upon Tavro 13 when looking for a restaurant close to the Auburn Road Winery because we had a tour there for my wife's birthday. Little did I know the gem that I would discover! An absolutely delicious 3 course brunch with a smoked trout appetizer, and the best corned beef hash- made on site the night before- that I have ever had. Then add a dcelicious lemon olive oil cakle for dessert; not to mention the bottomless Bloody Marys and Momosas! This was all for a price that could not be beat. The service was wonderful; attentive and informative. They were very pleasant and made a special effort for my wife's birthday. It was overall an outstanding experience, and we are sure to be back. (With friends!)"

"First time at the restaurant and I was pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious, the portions were perfect. They have a very nice and edited international wine list. The restaurant was warm and beautiful. We had a corner table by a window which was the perfect seat in the house. I will definitely be back."

"Very cool looking restaurant and bar. A lot went in to the aesthetics and decor, looked like a trendy nyc restaurant. Many good choices on bar menu and dining menu very "foodie" with interesting things to try. Our meal was delicious. "My wife and I visited Tavro 13 for the first time this past Sunday. The menu was a bit limited because they concentrate on preparing a few excellent dishes each night it appears as opposed to having a 'diner style' menu. With that said, there were a number of fish, poultry, pasta and steak options so no particular taste was overlooked. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was quite nice. We will definitely go again."

"Environment nice for a Sunday night. Not a ton of customers so I liked that. But service was a bit slower than I thought it should be. We were there 2 hours. After being seated it took longer than expected to get the usual upfront drinks and bread. My food was good, but I didn't like a lot of the items that came with my order ... beets, mushrooms. The menu is limited so if something doesn't jump out at you, you may feel obligated to force a second or third choice. For the price, I really WANT what I order."
