"It was a confusing menu. The food didn't really represent New Orleans. The daily special was red beans with a fried pork chop. The red beans tasted more like a Chicago chili dish. Very disappointed. The waiter explained the food represented the Spanish side of New Orleans food. That might explain the chili. However, the name of the restaurant is French. Really would not recommend this to anyone for lunch. I spent over $100.00 for a satisfactory meal to less than satisfactory meal."

"Borgne is incredible. Service was great. Every dish we ordered was outstanding. Stuffed flounder, grits and grillades, salads, strawberry pies, duck poppers, cocktails!! Everything was very fresh, perfectly prepared, reasonably seasoned. One draw back - This is the loudest restaurant I have ever been to in my life. But, I will be back very soon!"

"Restaurant is promoted as being from John Besh, but is actually run by Brian Landry, an excellent chef, but there is some false advertising issues here.
The restaurant is in the Hyatt Regency. Had we known this was a hotel restaurant we would not have gone there.
The ambience is very industrial, reminiscient of the cafeteria of a large company. It is cold and nosiy, with plastic chairs.
The food, however, is very good. The gumbo was the best I've ever had. And the service was excellent."

"The food was amazing. The portions were extremely large adn we definitely over ordered. The staff was great with service. Very friendly and helpful. The only negative was the accoustics. It was so loud and the way the place was set up we could hear a guy on the other side of the divie tables away clear as day every time he spoke."

"Fortunately the food and the service at this place is top notch, like all Besh restaurants, because the space the Hyatt provided is just plain weird, a bit of a mix of Night at the Roxbury and a Luby's Cafeteria. The concept of the restaurants begs to be at a less pretentious space. Come for the food and the folks who work there, not for the goofy design they had to work with by moving in there."

"Looking in from the outside, we had some doubts even though it was highly recommended. Our reservation was for 8:30pm and we were immediately seated. Being from San Diego, I thought we had experience every kind of margarita. These were were fresh tasting with a little after due to the jalapeno peppers. Our appetizer was the duck poppers; an incredible blend of flavors. I had the fish in a bag and my wife had the crayfish cavatelli as entrees. We both agreed that the fish in the bag fabulous. The service and food are not to be missed when in New Orleans.

"I've been to every Besh restaurant in New Orleans, so we were very excited to try this new one in the Hyatt. We were able to get a last minute reservation for the last night of Jazzfest. The casual atmosphere reminded me of an upscale seaside restaurant. But the food was a true highlight. I had a shrimp and pasta dish with a delicious lemon sauce. It tasted so fresh! My husband had the fish in a bag and it was so flavorful. We stared with a yummy roasted beet salad. Definitely a repeat for future visits."

"We thought this was some hot, happening place by Chef Besh. Not so much. While the fried chicken was great my friends fish was so-so. The atmosphere was lively but all the diners were over 60. Plus, it is in the Hyatt lobby, no view, nothing special."

"Our group went to Borgne during Jazzfest weekend and had a great time there. The food, energy and service were spectacular! Two of us ordered the flounder and o-m-g that was amazing!! They give you a whole flounder with the head on and stuffed with seafood. The fish itself was so tender and cooked to perfection. I definitely would recommend this restaurant and when we go back to NOLA, we are going there again!"

"The knockout on the menu is the duck poppers. The gumbo, and fish in a bag were very good, skip the stuffed flounder, doesnt work being served as a whole bone in fish on a tiny plate. Service was incredibly rushed, but it was Jazzfest Weekend. The tables are so small, which is not necessary since the space is rather large and open. We were four people and were constantly juggling plates, bread, glasses, etc. very frustrating. Thank God for the duck poppers!!!!"

"Manhattan for starters were fine drinks. Oysters were bigger and better than Felix's the night before. and those were quite good. We had the Drum Fish with pecans and they were great and I would not hesitate to get them again. One member of our party had the crawfish pasta and was not happy with the sauce, but was compensated with the Chocolate cake caramel desert, which was a great way to end the meal. We also had a glass of local New Orleans port, which as you can suspect was not that good, but good try to the local vineyard..."

"Marvelously prepared seafood (and others)! We remembered this place from a trip last year and enjoyed the food even more on our 2nd visit. It is a cavernous and casual, tastefully appointed but super-noisy room. Oyster almandine salad, drum main dish, twice-cooked chicken were all outstanding--well-cooked but very succulent. Portions were quite generous: the kitchen split our salad for us and we thought the first half plate the waiter set down was the whole thing, reasonably sized. Couldn't finish one (delicious) dessert among 3 of us. I wouldn't call it health food, but there is a lighter touch with the butter and bacon fat here than many NOLa spots. Wine list was decent, with all offered by the glass, a nice touch."

"A totally different experience than Besh's August. A little more trendy/casual but just as pleasant. Unique menu, heavy on the seafood, with very flavorful and creative dishes. Super friendly and helpful wait staff. Nice large bar as well. Was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the meal considering it's in a hotel. Even with so many great dining options in the area, Borgne is still well worth a taste."

"Did not like this place at all. My crawfish pasta had no taste; broiled oysters were breaded and ok; dessert was about the only great thing about this place. Service was slow for our group of 8 people. Weak wines; had two reds; once of which I sent back and the Pinot Noir was just average; for $15 I want a good glass of wine. Pretty disappointed overall. Looks like Chef Besh has spread himself to thin with this place."

"Reservations were for 10pm. Upon arrival half the tables were full and we were seated at the far end of the dining room. To say it was loud was an understatement. My guest and I had to raise our voices and lean into each other to carry on our conversation. I cant imagine the noise level if the place was full.
The food was good, but I was expecting more from the quality of these two chefs. My companion ordered the fish and it was not seasoned well. It was bland and required table salt and pepper to add flavor.
I went there for my birthday, and the staff did a great job of acknowledging my special occasion. The food service was incrediby fast and well timed. I was expecting a longer dining experience."

"Menu selection was limited with two specials that our party of four had to ask twice for an explanation of. Three seafood fish entrees and a garlic chicken entree was our selections. Food was OK but a little bland. Price was approximately 25% higher than food quality. Sauces with food were outstanding and salads were great. Brad served was fresh and warm. OK location but nothing to brag about."

"The food was good though the crawfish entree I had could have been more highly seasoned. The thing that stood out most about my exoerience was the service. Our server, I believe his name was Lance, was very personable and had great knowledge of the menu items: ingredients and preparation. He made our dining experience both enjoyable and memorable. I look forward to dining there again"

"I would only recommend it if you are staying at the Hyatt and your flight has arrived late and you don't feel like going elsewhere. The restaurant was very empty while we there, seeming almost abandoned. The atmosphere is very cafeteria like. Our server was very airy and seemed truly stumped by pretty basic questions about the menu (what is sheepshead fish? What beer do you have on tap?) The food was just ok. The other John Besh restaurants at this price point are much better"

"Arrived late in New Orkeans. Borgne stays open late! Didn't realize it's in the new Hyatt Regency. Big cafeteria like room with plastic/metal chairs and one end had a large group of ladies finishing a group dinner, so quite LOUD. My gumbo was okay but a small bowl for $9. The special pork belly with favas, peas, ramps and pasta was excellent. Hubby had alligator soup which was good and oyster spaghetti which was bland. Okay for a late night but definitely no August."

"Chef Brian Landry and John Besh hit a home run here. This is the second time that I have had the pleasure to eat at Borgne. The food is excellent, period, full stop. This time I had the Drum a la planche. Delicious, absolutely, delicious; the brown butter and pecan really compliment the drum. My companion had the friend chicken; amazing, succulent, not at all oily, with an amazing sauce. The best hot friend chicken I have ever had; I am partial to cold friend chicken.
My one complaint is that the decorations make the room feel a bit too open and austere. A divider between the bar and dining area would help to solve this minor defect.

"Each time I go to Borgne, at least one aspect of dining experience does not measure up. The food is excellent each time, which is the only thing that is consistent at this restaurant. The hostess staff is terrible. They are not welcoming at all. On one occasion, the manager actually suggested that I go to another restaurant in the building because they were full, I didn't have reservation, and he couldn't give me an estimated wait time. The service has been mediocre at best. Food is prepared fast, but the servers seem too busy to be very attentive to your individual table. I've gone back several times, just due to the restaurant's proximity to the Superdome, but for no other reason."
