The newest of the Mari Luna family of restaurants, the Bistro brings authentic Mexican food to the cityʼs cultural district. Highlights of the menu include seven styles of guacamole, each served in a traditional stone mortar called a molcajete, extensive taco offerings made with fresh corn tortillas, and house made white and red sangria. The basement Luna Lounge features salsa dance on Friday and Saturday nights.

"The main reason to eat here is the Guacamole. The make several varieties, and all are amazing.
We went right before a BSO show, and they were able to get us fed and out the door in time for the show, although I was worried because it took about 10 minutes for anyone to come get our order. They serve chips with salsa while you wait, but save the chips for the Guac. it is amazing."

"The food, surroundings, decor, etc was excellent and very plesurable, but the server was slow, uninformed, and unresponsive. For a simple evening dinner tht should have lasted no more than 1 1/2 hours took almost 2 hours because we could never find the server to first, take our drink order, next return to take our food order, third deliver the food or at least let us know if there was a backorder in the kitchen.
Also considering a majority of your traffic is the Meyerhoff, staff should be more mindful of getting patrons out of the restaurant and to the civic event across the street. That will keep patronds coming back."

"This was our second time at Mari Luna Bistro for dinner. We were blessed with the same wonderful server, Devante(sp?) and our favorite drink is the white sangria. The lamb shank and skirt steak were delicious as was the ceviche. Though I'm used to having some sweet potato with my ceviche in the traditional manner. The spanish rice wasn't so great. It tasted like it came from a box. We loved the creme brulee and the flan was just like I remembered it as a kid. Make sure you get reservations because this place often fills up quick when there's an event at the BSO! Looking forward to returning one day and trying more menu items..."

"The food here is always good. The skirt steak is one of our favorites, and the lamb chops were excellent, too. Great chips and salsa, of course! And a nice selection of wines -- although $10 for a glass of wine that sells for $12 a bottle makes me limit it to one glass. Our server was great -- anticipating needs, friendly but not intrusive."

"This could be one of the best Mexican restaurants. Sean was our waiter and was very accommodating knowing we were in a hurry to get to a show. The white Sangria was amazing. After the show we came back for a few more pitchers!"

"This is the first time I have felt compelled to write a review. I made a reservation three days in advance, but when we arrived we were seated next to the kitchen. Okay, I'll make the best of it. But the waiter was slow and inattentive. The empanada appetizers were luke-warm as if they had been sitting around, two were overcooked and the filling was bland. The waiter never came to ask how things were. The main course, once again, luke-warm and bland and, once again, the waiter never once asked how things were. He came only when we waved him over as if we were just a bother. Very disappointed. Will never go back and would not recommend. I can cite no redeeming quality."

"I went to this Mari Luna as it was convenient when the Meyerhoff had 2 shows to avoid the parking nightmare. Other than this is was TERRIBLE. It took 13/4 hours for dinner with no desert. Bar drinks came in a timely manner but ice tea & soft drinks took awhile. My husband's soup came seconds before his dinner.Why should soup take so long? I ordered fajitas minus the shrimp so meaning steak and chicken. It came without steak. When I finally tracked the server down to tell him,he said "oh I will fix that and bring you some steak". He told me that 2 times , never received it. Getting any refills on anything or asking the waiter was pretty much impossible. This establishment should be used to larger crowds prior to theater and that is not true"

"Food was O.K. -- nothing special, but about what I expected. The price was low enough so that I can't complain. Basically I chose ML because it was convenient to the venue of the cultural event I attended prior to the reservation time. Of course all the other attendees at the event also went directly to ML afterwards, so the restaurant quickly got crowded and loud. It wasn't anyone's fault but it was not conducive to an extended stay for dessert or coffee."

"Excellent service- we loved our waiter! Interesting interior and well decorated. Crowded at 515 with pre show diners for Lyric and Myerhoff (just like us), well managed and paced. The guacamole bar was excellent, as was the shrimp bisque. We have added this to our list of good places and looking forward to going back there."

"The Guacamole was excellent along with the chips and salsa. The Margaritas were refreshing, but not notable. The location is great, right next to parking and the Lyric. Service was good. Along with the Yucatan Guacamole we shared an appetizer (Chile en Nogada) and entrée (Fajitas Mixto). The appetizer was okay, but the fajitas were a disappointment. I expected the usual sizzling platter, but what came to the table was a just barely warm mix of meats and vegetables. Was apparent when the guacamole, sour cream, lettuce and tomatoes were on the same dish and cold. Now this might be Mari Luna's interpretation of fajitas, but they should mention that when ordering. We will probably try again, but something different."

"Mediocre food can sometimes be offset by superior service, but when the food is only average and the service is lacking, it is time to find a different place to eat. What this has going for it is its location directly across from the Meyerhoff, making it convenient for pre- or post-concert dinning. The food was very cool, bordering on cold. Ice tea was never re-filled. Orders were forgotten. The food was a step up from fast food, but the prices were high for the average quality. We will be going back to eating a sandwich at the Meyerhoff."

"It was ok, but doesn't even come close to it's Latin sister restaurant. We were promptly seated, but waited over 10 minutes for our server to acknowledge us. It was very loud and noisy and our waiter was very soft spoken, which was annoying. We could barely hear him or each other. We had the traditional guacamole to start and that was very good. I had a Cobb salad with steak and I would give it a 2 out of 10. It was mostly just large chunks of iceberg lettuce with 2 slices of tomato, 3 little cubes of cheese, steak that was very tough to chew and jicama sticks. Not impressed at all. My husband had the shish-ka-bobs and enjoyed them. It was around $90 with tip for 2 drinks, guacamole, 1 salad and shish-ka-bobs. Not worth it."

"We were a table of 9, service was ok, but you had to ask multiple times for things, drinks took a long time and a pitcher of sub standard margaritas we came to find out were $47 a piece and this was mostly for sugary margarita mix. The server was nice, just not that attentive and with forced included gratuity, it was what it was. We were going to lyric, so can't beat the location from that perspective. Food was good, but not like a remember from the first mari Luna in Reisterstown road."

"Wait staff were friendly and attentive. The food was excellent and arrived at our table very quickly. The only criticism I have is the noise level; with all tables occupied, it was too noisy to carry on a quiet conversation. Some sound-absorbing materials on the walls would help."

"The ambience is trendy and inviting but the Margaritas and San Gria were among the worst I've tasted. Both had a taste similar to grapefruit and the San Gria was too much like grape juice.
We had fajitas which were only fair and definitely not as good as those at Baja Fresh which is a sad commentary since they are more than twice as expensive at Mari Luna."

"They had no record of our reservation, so we had to wit 30 minutes before we were seated, leaving us 45 mins to eat dinner before going on to a show. That said,the food was good and the waiter very nice about getting us served and out on time."

"This was our second visit to Mari Luna.
Our first was GREAT: the food; the service; the ambience.
This visit was a little disappointing after our first experience. Whereas our first waitress a very attractive woman I guess in her forties, who unfortunately was moving to FL that very week...was terrific in every way. While our second waitress was pleasant and competent,my husband noted that she always seemed to be in a terrific hurry. Maybe she was. Maybe the restaurant was understaffed that night.
We will go back; the food was OK and it's soooo close to the Meyerhoff."

"As usual the food is excellent but I never seem to have enough room to eat it all. The Guacamole and appetizers are definately made for 2 people. I had some Guac (traditional) and the Chalupas both of which were excellent (Gotta love fresh Guacamole!). I had the beef enchiladas which came 3 to a plate along with beans, rice, toppings and a large fried egg. Very tasty but way too much after the appetizers. I was there early (6pm) and was seated and served very quickly. The wait staff was excellent and responsive, and everything was clean. A great place to grab dinner before a show at the Lyric or the Meyerhoff and not just because it is the closest restaurant to those two venues."

"We selected Mari Luna for its proximity to the Meyerhoff. The guacamole and drinks were excellent. Our main dishes were mediocre. Service was terrible. We spent two hours at the restaurant and repeatedly had to remind our server about drink orders we had placed. The server forgot when we asked for our check and I had to ask him for it a second time. We will not return for dinner."
