"This was our first time at Oak. Entering, we felt a beautiful, warm and inviting atmosphere. Our server was professional but warm and throughout the meal, he was easily available without hovering. A strong start - until the food arrived. Between the two of us, we had the soup, gnocchi, lamb and salmon. We rated each dish on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best. Not one dish received over a 5 and the salmon was lower because it was so fishy. For $100/pp, there are many other restaurants that have much better food. What a shame to have such a beautiful restaurant miss the mark on the most important ingredient. It was bad enough that we will not be back."

"Delight dining experience. Very different and welcomed ambiance. Great selection of bar service including had to fine Midleton Whiskey and Macallan 30! An Amish looking dude did a great job of serving the table, he was very knowledgeable of all offering Midleton to Brussels Sprout’s. Portions were ideal size and complemented with sauces. Salmon and Beef Loin Strip were delicious. Ice cream was the prefect sweet choice to end the warn spring evening.
Highly recommended!"

"There is a great deal of hype about this restaurant - one of THE places to eat in Dallas. It's all deserved. The room is stunning - the seating comfortable and spacious even with a full house. The Cesar salad was uniquely presented and refreshing. The lamb shank was wonderful. The Cherry Neapolitan dessert was one of the best indulgences we've had dining in Dallas. The service was outstanding - very helpful in choosing between all the enticing possibilities."

"This was our third time at Oak and we have had excellent experiences on each visit. The menu changes sufficiently to keep things interesting and on this visit the food was particularly good - the lamb shank was outstanding and all three courses for both of us were uniformly excellent. We like the professional friendly service and the overall ambience of the house. However, on this visit (early evening) there were two tables with children, including a noisy roaming toddler whose mother thought it cute - we, not so much. It took the edge off an otherwise terrific dining experience."

"My husband and I love this restaurant for its low noise level....you can actually have a conversation without having to shout across the table. Also, the booths are very comfortable, the food is great and service very professional. Portion sizes are reasonable and dishes are so flavorful that you feel comfortably satisfied, not stuffed. "While I had an enjoyable dining experience, I wouldn't call it memorable. The food was good but nothing special, and certainly not worth the hype I'd heard about Oak. While the food was tasty and presented well, it was basic and unimaginative -- something you could get at a dozen other nameless restaurants; nothing evoked my passion, excitement or devotion. The service could best be described as adequate but not memorable. Beyond a selection of cut fruit for the water glass, there was nothing special about the service as you might expect in finer restaurants. I felt sorry for the tables nearest the door as it felt as if people coming in were right on top of them. No entry vestibule, which causes the elements to blow right in to the diners."

"Had a nice time at Oak. The service was great and the restaraunt had a good ambiance. I ordered the duo pork. Portions are very small for the price but this was expected. The main complaint I had with my meal was that the pork tenderloin had a large amount of fat for such a small portion.
We had a few drinks and they were well made. I went to Oak on a special occasion and don't see myself going again for dinner due to the price and food portions. But I could see myself possibly going for a drink or 2 before an event."

"This was our second dining experience at Oak. The menu changes seasonally, so my husband's favorite (The tender octopus) was not available; but our party of five had both excellent food and service. The specialty cocktails are wonderful! Our waiter was very knowledgeable and answered all of our menu questions. One person had the vegetarian pasta option while the others opted for the halibut, lamb shank and pork trio. Everything was cooked to perfection. The highlight of the meal was the scallop appetizer. The scallops were so large that there was enough for our party to share. If someone just wanted a "small plate" for a meal, that would certainly fit the bill. Homemade ice creams with dessert were very good."

"The overall experience was pleasant. The restaurant was very pretty. Two notable slips in service. The waiter recommended the duck over the lamb. I expect the duck would have been good if it had been warmer, but the fois gras and the duck breast were luke cook and the confit was overly salty and dry. "service: bored waitstaff on autopilot staring into space as they rapid fire answer "any questions you may have" as was repeated over and over. Not unfriendly but not engaged. Every bite of food served was room temperature on a cold plate except the spaetzle which was warm and delicious. These criticisms are things signalling the beginning of the end unless addressed fast. The actual food on the plate would have been wonderful, but being served too cold after an interminable wait makes for a memorable dining experience but not in a good way. Dessert menu had little joy to offer. I had lunch at Oak three times before they discontinued their lunch service, and each of those lunches were exponentially better than this dinner was."

"Our first experience at Oak was absolutely superb. We had arrived early and found the ambiance perfect. The food was delicious and the wine pairings were excellent. The wait-staff was helpful and very knowledgeable, both as to the food and the wine. The maitre d' accommodated our table selection and the bartender, prior to our meal, was wonderful, mixing me a Vieux Carre, though it wasn't on the menu, and offering my friend a Lolita, for which he didn't charge us, so we could both have something special. It was a fantastic meal and a great night out. Oak is our new favorite place. We most assuredly will be back."

"Had dinner at Oak this weekend and was very pleased. The ambiance is a bit tech meets industrial ( think a lot of Restoration Hardware fixtures). Nice open room with good lighting and acoustics ( not overly noisy). The service is attentive and helpful, not obtrusive. Tried the Mighty Oak and Lolita cocktails- yes! Started with the Ligurian Caesar- a nice variation with mint. The star was the Moroccan Octopus & Pork Jowls- crusty pork with succulent meat and a South American Chili sauce that tied it all together. My date had the duck breast - medium rare - (would do rare next time, it was excellent and I had the trout - the only disappointment- too overly cooked trying to get the crispy skin."

"This was my second time dining at Oak. The first was lunch which was good but nothing outstanding. Dinner Thursday evening was remarkable. The pate on the charcuterie plate was insanely good. The appetizer gnocchi left you wanting even more. The duck was the best I've ever had. And the server, Gadi, was about as great as possible, making the whole dinner even more enjoyable. Add to that spectacular cocktails and one of the most beautiful dining rooms in town, and you have a perfect evening."

"Went to Oak with a group of 5 friends - loved every minute of it. We shared the charcuterie platter (small enough for a single person to eat) and the gnocchi, both of which were delicious. Other starters included the Pork Jowls and Octopus (Oak's signature dish) and Agnolotti, both of which delighted. Mains included the pasta dish, the duo of pork and the lamb. All very good. We also ordered 2 side dishes to share (they are big enough for 4 to share), the Spaetzle and the Pommes Saldaise. The Potatoes were fried and well spiced and the Spaetzle were actually Cheese Spaetzle, with Gruyere and roasted onions. No more sharing when it came to dessert! Though the goat cheese beignets needed a bit more honey. Overall a great meal!"

"Loved everything about Oak! Walking into the space was exciting. Beautiful and contemporary light fixtures and furniture. The service and attention to detail was outstanding. Nice touch offering Lemmon, lime, or cucumber for water. The food is creative and fresh. My personal favorite was the octopus with pork jawl appetizer. We also enjoyed the cocktail and wine list. They offer some unique wines be the glass. My friend tried a Grüner Veltliner. A very refreshing and unique find. This paired well with his fresh a asparagus soup topped with a quail egg.
Can't wait to return!"

"I like Oak. They gave you quality vs. quantity. I eat all of my food and did not feel stuff. It was a nice comfortable setting. The Oak is burning because it is hot. Corny, I know, but what can you do."
