"We had lunch in the back patio sitting in the shade. The whole experience was delightful. Beautiful day, pitcher of sangria, 4 or 5 appetizers--heaven. The food was excellent and inventive."

"We started off with a negative when three of us were seared at a table for two. That was corrected and we were comfortable at Dinner. The steak was tough but flavorful. The seafood in the paella was overcooked But the rice was delicious. The fried oyster tapas was the Best. Other tapas looked good as well. If I go back I will stick to tapas."

"We were expecting a bit more refined cuisine...we got good "home cooking". No complaints food was good, just expected more from a celebrity chef! Also, no full bar...only wine, beer."

"The food was REALLY good - still dreaming about the toro ceviche and the churros. I wish we had not gone on Mother's Day because they could not handle the extra traffic. The place is very small with outdoor seating in back. They took reservations without telling people most would have to sit outside. It was cold, but the hostess was incredibly annoyed that we asked to sit inside. Later we saw her turn away another party with a reservation for the same thing. We saw an empty table for four but she refused to seat us there because we were three. The food took nearly an hour and they brought the basket of chips (no dips though some tables got them) just before the food arrived. Delicious, though."

"Our UWS banker , whose mother is Peruvian, recommended this restaurant to my partner (who is from Lima) and me, so we trekked out to Park Slope to give it a try. We showed up around 4pm and there was only one other table of patrons in the nice little garden. The food was absolutely wonderful. We started with soups, chupe, and caldo de choros. For the main courses, we had risotto and adobado, and, once again, the portions were large and the dishes were scrumptious. We gobbled up every bite. Even though we were full, we had to try something for dessert so we shared the chocolate souffle, which was really one of those molten chocolate cakes where the warm chocolate oozes out from the inside. Prices were reasonable. Can't wait to come back!"

"This is my third time at Surfish and the food continues to be delicious. Their ceviche is outstanding. I love the octopus ceviche. The kalamata aioli and leche de tigre rocoto goes well with the octopus. My friend had the mixto ceviche and it looked delicious too. Their salads are huge portions and very fresh. At this visit I had the Mahi-Mahi taquitos -- a tapas for my main meal. Medallions of fried mahi-mahi topped with a tomato salsa and guacamole on small soft corn tortilla. The presentation of all of their dishes is very beautiful and elegant."

"It was a very good dining experience. 3 out of 4 dishes were great and the appys were delicious. (The 4th dish was good, but the beef was too chewy). Service was so helpful and the staff was most attentive. It was very busy when we were there but and the place is small with tables close together, yet we were still able to hear each others conversation. Next time we go I want to try the tapas menu that looks really yummy."

"A great place to celebrate a birthday! My friend and I were out to celebrate his birthday, and a larger party of women was there for a bday too as we found out when they sang "Happy birthday" and blew out a candle on a cupcake. It was a festive evening for a Tuesday night, and as usual the food was all spot on. Pineapple tuna appetizers, mahi mahi taquitos, shrimp risotto, Peruvian tilapia with cilantro rice, and flan for dessert was an outstanding meal, with some leftover risotto to take home. Casual dining, or a special occasion, Surfish Bistro is the way to go."

"Once again wowed by the food, and ready to dine there again as soon as possible. Every time I am impressed by how perfectly every plate comes together with the right combination of flavors, fresh ingredients, and proportions of proteins, starches and veggies. A conversation with the solo diner seated next to me, revealed another person awed by the greatness of the food and planning his next visit too. This seafood feast that started with a tuna tartare appetizer, was satisfying and an excellent value for the price."

"The food and drink here are always terrific; I love the sangria. This has become one of my go-to restaurants. This time was Valentines Day and we had to wait 25 minutes even with a reservation, but once seated that all faded away. The chupe (shrimp soup) is excellent always. The room is small and friendly. Some nights they have live music--two old timers on guitar who play extremely well. You can't go wrong here."

"Good tasty food, priced properly with size of portion. Only negative I had was we had to wait longer for waitress attention at arrival and to get check than to get food."

"We entered the small and somewhat cramped restaurant for our first time on Valentines Day, we were psyched to try the food of Chopped winner (i believe he won. Our expectations were certainly met if not exceeded. The pitcher of sangria hit the spot and had a nice kick - the mango avocado salad was delicious as was the tuna ceviche with avocado mousse, i would go back just for that. For entres we shared the sliced hanger steak and the fish tacos - both were incredible. Despite the place being a little tight, try to get a table against the left wall, we had a fabulous tine and I would definitely recommend and will for sure return! (i think because the restaurant sits behind a bench-bus-stop folks just miss it while walking past it)"
