"We frequent Jake's, not often but have been a dozen or so times.
For brunch yesterday, we all (4) could not help but feel "rushed"
and a bit hovered-over and too often asked, "if there was anything else
we could get you". We all realize the patio dining space is small and rather
limited and that it's necessary to get people taken care of and on their way
as promptly as possible, but a guest should never actually feel "rushed" and
as if, "prompted" to leave. There is a way to accomplish this without anyone
adversely sensing such tactics. The food is always good enough and the wait staff,
decent enough but yesterday just felt a bit hurried and prodded to get us on our way!"

"Although the place was very busy, we waited only a few minutes for our reservation and received a great table. We all had either the house made spicy Bloody Mary or the BLT Bloody Mary which is incredible with bacon scewered with a cherry tomato and lettuce and used in place of a celery stick and with bacon infused vodka. Two of us had the delish chilliquilias egg dish, one had the excellent 'eggs in purgatory' (eggs all perfectly runny as ordered!) and one had the Miami Vice Salad which is so popular. Finished with a huge piece of the salted caramel cake and a round of cappuccinos. Excellent service by Sean and the owners, Chris & Bruce, came by the table to be sure we were pleased --we were! A perfectly delightful Mothers Day Brunch!"

"I wanted to ask when the "dining room" would be finished. It looks and feels like store room. I will not go again if sitting inside is only option. Waitress Iin bad mood but warmed when time to tip. The food is wonderful! The chef deserves to be on the list. Except for waitress, the staff is charming."

"Tucked into the courtyard of a historic building on North Palm Canyon Arts District - this little gem of a restaurant never disappoints. It's tiny and the owners are hands-on. They are always around to meet, greet and ensure that everything is perfect - I LOVE supporting this business for that reason alone. The patio is the place to be and you can even bring your well-behaved dog!
Open for lunch and dinner, there is a full bar with daily drink specials. It gets really busy on weekends so reservations are a must - I love that they are on open table."

"The menu reads well, but the kitchen really needs a re-start. Portions were large, but mostly flavorless. Would love half the food and twice the flavor. Black bean soup was spicy, but lacked any depth. Eggplant stack had thick pieces of fried eggplant, red sauce, and mozzarella -- should have been a home run -- but the only character was salt. And the chicken was equally enormous, but thoroughly flavorless.There must be much better food in Palm Springs. Desserts were also LARGE, and nominally better."

"This was our last stop (for brunch) before leaving Palm Springs after 5 glorious days and it left a great lingering sensation! The staff was all knowing and yet only there when you wanted/needed them. The patio is small, but nicely appointed and the outdoor atmosphere is perfect! Highly recommend!"

"In north end of Palm Springs. We ate outside, temperature was about 75 and you felt that you were in the country - totally enclosed patio. Everybody loved their food - I had Ciopino and it was the largest amount of shellfish that I ever had in this dish."

"The food at Jake's is outstanding. There were three of us and all agreed that the preparation, presentation and taste were great. Kudos to the chief and kitchen staff. That's where the positive ends. Their tables are cheap little plastic ones that barely allowed you to seat three. So you feel unconfortable all the time. If you go insist that you sit in the patio or on the street. I believe that the tables are no different but noise level should be lower. We were in the side dining area and the noise level was atrocious."

"Initially we ate there for lunch with our two kids (4.5 and 2 years old). No kid menu but they were able to accommodate with no problem. Staff was friendly and attentive. The food was great- so much that we scheduled an afternoon meal there before our flight departing PSP. Unfortunately we were running late for a sit-down meal so we called ahead and placed a to-go order. Again, they accommodated us no problem and the sandwiches were fantastic. Also had a slice of cake that was amazing. We will def return the next time we are in the desert."

"Second time to this restaurant. Service was poor; first course was missed completely before the entrees arrived, the server did not check back with us to ask how the meals were until we were just about done with them (meals were served by someone other than our waiter). We asked for the check because it was getting uncomfortable out on the patio due to the high winds and we got comped dessert. The thought was appreciated, but we really did just want to leave and have our request for the check honored."

"Ordered sushi appetizer and there were two bones. Waiter seemed surprised but never offered to replace. we dont like to complain so we just accepted. We dined at 8:30 and it felt like they were getting ready to close. Lots of better restaurants in PS. More vibrant on Friday nights. They need to step it up a notch."

"Finally got to enjoy a meal at Jake's (you usually need reservations). Took my partner there for a birthday dinner. Cute place. Comfortable chairs. Perfect volume for the chill house music playing at the small bar. On the down side, service felt a bit rushed for no reason. We felt like 4 different people were waiting on us. Repeatedly asked the same questions from these server/managers throughout the meal. Overkill. My partner's fish dish was great. I ordered the meatloaf with Sirachi ketchup which was unremarkable. I had to ask for a side of more Sirachi to give it the kick it needed (I could barley taste the Sirachi with my first bite). We'll go back, just not in a hurry."

"Jake's is consistently good. The setting is charming, especially on the patio. And the staff is always friendly and fun. While the menu has some fairly routine-sounding items, they give everything a twist that's uniquely their own (e.g., rather than the typical Rueben, theirs is made with a spicy Italian sausage). My personal favorite dish is Jake's "Miami Vice" salad---shrimp, avocado, feta, with a wonderful, light citrus dressing."

"Upon arrival I told the hostess we had an Open Table reservation which she looked at her computer & confirmed. She said our table was clearing & it would be just a few minutes. I next noticed that she had a handwritten list of names & was adding names to it as people came in without reservations. I observed her to then seat people from this list of handwritten names. After 20 minutes of waiting I realized that since our name was not on her handwritten list, we had been forgotten about. I told her I didn't understand how 4 or 5 groups had been seated before us & inquired about our table inside the restaurant. She apologized for the mixup & offered us the next table outside, which was not our preference as it was rather warm outside."

"This was our second visit to Jake's for dinner. I ordered my favorite which was the Ribs with garlic mashed potatoes. The glaze was as flavorful as the first time we had dined there. The orange cake for dessert was worth saving room for! My only regret was that the outside tables were already filled, despite requesting a table outside on Open Table... maybe next time we can experience dinner on their patio."
