For more than a quarter of a century, people have been returning to Athens Restaurant for an enjoyable dining experience and friendly hospitality.
Here at the Athens we believe in using fresh & locally sourced (when able & available) ingredients and superior products in our recipes. We prepare most everything in house and to order.
A family run restaurant, we specialize in authentic Greek dishes from our own original recipes, as well as serving an array of other dishes such as Grilled Meats, Seafood, Pastas, Pizza and Breakfast, Brunch and Homemade Desserts. With such a varied menu selection, there is something to please every palette.
Founded by Sam & Areti Panopalis in 1982, the Athens Restaurant has been operated by their son, Evangelos, since their re-opening on Quinpool Road in 1996. We still serve many of the same customers from our original location. At the Athens our patrons are like family to us. We invite you to visit us for a fabulous meal.

"I came with party of 12.
Shared Greek platter
For main, I ordered pan fried haddock with side of fries & Caesar salad.
Salad was OK, would have been better if came in its own bowl, as plate was hot & this caused lettuce to lose crispness.
Fries were somewhat soggy & brown, like they were fried in overused oil.
Fish seemed fresh, but breading was too sparse.
Maybe I was expecting too much. After all, I basically ordered fish & chips at a Greek restaurant. Previous times I've been here and ate souvlaki /moussaka/lamb & it was good.
Service was friendly."

"This restaurant seems to be popular with all ages of Haligonians. However, the night we visited it fell below our expectations. One of our party ordered the double chicken souvlaki and got pork. The kitchen had left the tsatsiki and lemon off my souvlaki plate. We had come especially for the gluten-free almond chocolate torte but were disappointed to hear that they no longer carry it. So, a good restaurant that could be better with a little more effort."
