According to the City Guide Tampa Bay, "The “Grand Lady of the Bay” is home to Marchands Bar & Grill, a swank eatery that keeps vigil over the downtown marina. Remodeling efforts emulate the Mediterranean decor present throughout the Renaissance Vinoy Resort while utilizing rich woods and marbles. Keeping up with changes in guest expectations and healthier lifestyles, the menu also reflects a brand new era -- gone are the tired sauces and a heavier fare of yesteryear. In their place, the menu reflects the flavors of the Mediterranean with touches of other global influences, such as a macadamia-encrusted fish might be served with a papaya or mango salsa, while the lamb is redolent of the most virgin olive oil with touches of fresh rosemary. Careful preparation coupled with exquisite presentation renders each plate an experience. This is dining to be savored, not merely experienced."
"My party and I experienced Marchand's Bar and Grill for Mother's Day. The food was amazing, the atmosphere was relaxed but nice, and the service was impeccable. It was everything we'd hoped for!"

"We have been going to Marchand's Bar & Grill for many years with family and friends and enjoyed it very much. In the last few times we were with some friends and taking advantage of the classic menu, we were quite disatisfied. the menu is not as good and exciting as it used to be. Last Saturday we were there with some friends, the beans were hard (not cooked enough) two different wines we requested on the wine list were not available, the corn beef was not cooked well. To make it brief, we were not happy at all and we all decided that we will not be going to Marchand's for a while till they get a better classic menu (as it used to be)and better quality of food. Sorry!"

"Brunch was just okay for the price. I have attended this brunch off and on over the years. There was a time when I happily paid the price for this brunch. I think the food quality and presentation has diminished over the years, and I'm not certain I'll be back after this visit."

"I thought the menu was a bit limited for those who are not carnivores. Considering it is RIGHT on the water I expected more choices of seafood. That said, the salmon was quite good."

"We have been to Marchand's in the past and really enjoyed the menu and food. Unfortunately this time around the menu was very limited and the food was not good. We also felt for the price of the meal the portions were extremely small. We had the Squab as well as the Corned Beef Short Ribs. Neither ones were very tasty. This was a celebration dinner for our anniversary and we were very disappointed."

"We ordered from the 1925 early bird menu. It was a very enjoyable experience and a great way to sample some of the cuisine. It was also lovely to be at the Vinoy during the early evening hours. Our server, Dean, was fantastic."

"Excellent breakfast. BTW, the brunch they serve on Sundays looks amazing... great selection of items... and the pastries are fabulous. We arrived too early for the brunch... but they offered some of the desserts... they were really great."

"The beautiful atmosphere, spacious seating, and relatively quiet atmosphere are the best attributes of Marchand's. The food and service are good, but far from top notch and the wine list expensive. I wouldn't call the food expensive as some people have, at least for this type of restaurant. I have a strong distaste to putting a bar with a TV in the middle of this type of high end restaurant, but there wasn't a rowdy crowd at the bar, at least the night I was there. My wife's tilefish was very good but my rabbit was only slightly above average."

"New Menu. Not willing to accommodate any Vegetarian Requests as they were on previous occassions. Service- Poor. Last visit the chef provided superb ravioli and aspargus. This visit we were told they "could heat up some vegetables or maybe some beans". Not what I would expect from a establishment of this caliber. Dined there last week, the food and service was superb. Due to that experience we invited others to accompany us. Based on this last experience we would not return."

"Went on Friday after Valentines Day with wife and son for nice formal dinner. The menu was only a valentines menu with only 2-3 offerings. Neither of which were an option I was wanting (viewed the menu on the website). After consideration My son and I had the $70 lobster dinner with oyster appetizer. The oysters were decribed as 4 or 5 on a serving. They came with 3 which didn't matter they were terrible. The little lobster tails were overcooked and the desert which was to come with both dinners came as one small desert for 2. My wife had the other dinner with scallops and it was too salty for her to finish. The best item was the wine.
The atmosphere is a bar with a resturant built around it. Not what is projected on the websit"

"Marchand's is our go-to place EVERY time we want to pamper our tastebuds. The chef has such an imagination! We've learned to be willing to try anything on the menu even if the explanation of the dish includes combinations of ingredients that we would normally find strange (squash soup over popcorn, for example!) Unless we just don't care for one or more of the ingredients listed, we are always very pleasantly surprised with whatever new invention is being offered. Oh, and the service is always impeccable.
2 caveats: 1) The dining room chairs are so huge that shorter people like us find we need to request a pillow at our backs in order to be comfortable, and 2) People who have hearing aids will find the atmosphere noisy/echo-y."

"Marchand's was excellent. A little expensive, but worth it. Lovely place, great ambiance and the food was great. We went there for a small birthday celebration and would certainly do it again."

"We have been frequent diners; although still a great atmosphere the food was a bit sub-par. The clam chowder was highly anticipated, but failed; was more a vegetable base than clam chowder. My Mom makes better. The portions were smaller than normal; was a busy night with weddings and all kinds of events, so that may excuse the kitchen.
Still great room, nice bar, nice music, etc. Wait staff was excellent; food only OK. Extra charge for 101 wild turkey ?? That's new."

"We live in St Pete, and have dined a number of times at Marchand's in the past.
We were celebrating my wife's birthday and were looking forward to a romantic dinner. Instead, it was noisy, with many tables with families/kids, dressed in shorts and sneakers.
We were disappointed with our dinner this time, especially because Marchand's markets itself as a premier dining establishment, and that has been our experience in the past, would allow itself to feel down market.
Our wait staff was lovely man, but he was so busy serving many tables, especially with kids, that as a patron that it was not possible to get the kind of service one expects from Marchand's."
