"Got there at 11:30, starters were brought out promptly as were drinks. The meal was finally brought to us at 1:00 pm, we ordered about 11:50. The table across from us had the same experiance, btw, our table and their's were tables for two. Not Six or Ten. I did not rate service, as i don't won't the rating to reflex on our servicer. GRRR i have to rate service, im rating low."

"I made reservations because I was looking for something out of the ordinary. We were a group of 8 and everyone liked the food, but the noise level made it hard to hear each other talk. They give you very large portions and you can share an entre. Also, the salads are very interesting and don't order a large if you are having a full entre. My friend ordered a small salad and an appetizer and it was a lot to eat. If it wasn't for the noise it would be a fun place. The wait staff are veryfriendly"

"This was a our 2nd visit to the Porch, our first being November 2012. We were very pleased, again, with the quality of the entree selections. Our server recommended the grilled brie as an appetizer, which was delicious with the apricot-cranberry jam. My husband had the flat iron steak and i had a fried chicken salad. My husband enjoyed his steak. It was properly prepared to his request and had a nice smoky flavor. The bleu cheese flavor in the hot potato salad was a bit overpowering on its own, but made a great topping for the steak, so that worked for him. My salad was excellent. I think they change up the ingredients in this salad because I ordered it last time, but it had different toppings this time. I enjoyed it all the same."

"Recently had friends in town from the Bay Area (and they work in San Francisco). To find a restaurant for a group of foodies who are used to fine dining is a bit intimidating. However, The Porch came through with flying colors in all areas. A+ on the food, service, ambience and the bar. All through the meal they said how much they were enjoying the place and would visit again! Whew what a sigh of relief, but it happens to be my new favorite restaurant and I was pretty sure it would be a success. Thanks to the The Porch team!"

"If you stick with the fried green tomatoes and fried chicken, this place is good; however, I had the frito pie and it looked great, but the beans were undercooked and ruined the dish. My friend had the pork chop with gouda grits and gravy. It was the heaviest combination because the gouda grits are very rich and then gravy over it was just too much. It's a darling restaurant, hopefully, they will get their entrees in order or with more consistency."

"This was our 1st visit to The Porch, I'm always up for an adventure, so because it was Mother's Day, I had the pick of the draw for restaurants in mid-town Sacramento, I chose wisely. "We had to wait over an hour to receive our food. When we finally did receive our food, it was cold. It was mother day and they were having problems getting the food to all of us at the same time. We waited an hour before finally having to complain to the manager. Only until we complain did we finally receive our food - that was cold. No apology and they included their own tip that was not based upon the poor service but the party size.
Not the best experience. I would not recommend."

"I love the idea of what The Porch Restaurant is selling but it is lacking in the execution of the sale. Food is good, drinks are unique and delicious but the staff seems disconnected. The bartender's and server's should have been working at Denny's as far as I'm concerned. Our service was not good from start to finish and that was disappointing since it was Mother's Day. I would go back again but strictly because I like the menu."

"I made my online reservation and gave instruction on what I would like upon arrival of my mom and The Porch was ah-mazing! I am so impressed. They provided the best service and most delicious food. The buttermilk fried chicken was ridiculously good. Never ever have I had such fantastic honey butter. Great cocktails and the MAC N' CHEESE, can we say hello just five more times.
I will be back asap to The Porch. Prices are high but well worth the cost. I would not bring kids here because the food is a bit expensive. Also, the entire experience says adults-only. "We were looking forward to treating our mother to a taste of the South to bring back fond memories for her. We were rushed from the time we were seated. The food while being far too generous in portion sizes, was lacking flavor. The cornbread was delicious and the attention to beverage refills was very good. Overall we were disappointed with the food especially for the price charged for breakfast items. The decor was charming, but definitely nit favorable for groups larger than 4."

"We go every year here to The Porch. Their staff is so friendly and it exudes southern hospitality. The food is excellent. The menu changes everyday. Upon asking for something I usually order that wasn't on the menu, they were willing to accommodate me. What a nice atmosphere!! "The Porch is one of Sacramento's best restaurants. They treated my friend and I fabulously and for her birthday, we received personalized menus with her name at the top with birthday wishes and a memorable skillet cookie, compliments of the house. Oh, that skillet cookie....served hot, with chocolate sauce and pecans and blueberries and house-made buttermilk ice cream... Its worth a return trip just for that. The grilled cheese sandwich is ridiculously good, as are the sweet potato fries and the house-made ketchup. On a previous trip here I had the fried green tomatoes and fried chicken and grilled brie...everything is worth recommending. Its located on a cute and quiet block of K St. Just go."

"The ambiance was too quiet and almost depressing. We sat in the middle aisle and the table didn't quite fit the hard wooden menus. The decore was dark and did not exactly fit what I envisioned to be "Southern" style. There was also privacy glass dividing the center aisle of tables which blocked off the view of the bar and the other row of diners. That was the first thing that put me off - it was a very closed off feel. I ordered the Cobb salad minus the bacon and was very disappointed. The 4 shrimp were good (although it should've had 6-8), but the rest was as if the chef took a large bag of lettuce and dumped it on the plate. It was very dry and skimped on everything. Only positives were the amazing sweet potato pie and good service."

"The menu was delicious southern comfort foods with an updated twist. We had the bbq shrimp & grits, the short ribs,cornbread, greens & fried green tomatoes. All very tasty. The bar selection of signature cocktails & bourbons was impressive. The food & drink service was a little slow, especially since it wasn't super busy when we arrived, but Stephanie, our server made up for it by being very friendly, conversant & checking in often."

"What a wonderful surprise when we arrived with out of town friends on a Monday evening!! Brunch! Yes, brunch! We scraped our plates clean!!
A lovely night to have The Porch serve it on, too. It was quiet, guests are not as crazy as they are by the weekend, and people were chatting and just enjoying! I had Bbq'd Shrimp on a bed of Cheddar Polenta. Divine, melt in your mouth divine! My husband couldn't talk while he devoured his Crab Cakes Benedict. Can u just smell it!
Wine was wonderful. I had the house red, and it was a fabulous choice!

"My husband and I have been back to The Porch a number of times. I am a fan of the BBQ grits with shrimp. The menu has some frequent changes, but you can always find a new favorite. The staff is friendly, but service is not quick. They are welcoming to kids and have a suitable menu for them. The ambiance is very comfortable. The room is split into three sections: bar and high tables, tables that can seat up to six, and a back area for larger groups. Previous reviews have mentioned how the service slows when there are a lot of people, such as a holiday. I have found this to be true for Easter brunch. The restaurant is at its best when it is less crowded."

"a perfect place for birthday dinners and overall. Love that they have grass fed beef for the burgers. Drinks are superb and the staff is great.
