"Arugula is very small, packed with tables and frankly does not live up to my standard of "fine dining". We were a party of two and were initially seated along the wall, bench seating...crammed in within inches of other guests. The noise level was deafening! The portion of calamari appetizer was deceiving. It was filled with rings of hot peppers, dipped in the same batter as the calamari. There was no warning by the waitress that the appetizer was loaded with hot peppers. I for one, cannot eat hot peppers and didn't expect them in my appetizer. The entrees were mediocre and the risotto was less than fair. I found it pricey and lacking the dining atmosphere I expected! ...wouldn't recommend it to anyone!"

"This was our third time back to Arugula. Our waitress, Lauren, was attentive and really warm and friendly. The food was outstanding! Ala carte, so it is a bit pricey. We really prefer seafood, and the few dishes on the menu did not disappoint. Love the mussels appetizer, VERY spicy with hot sausage. Fried calamari has fried jalapenos too. We had salmon, rib eye steak, and chilaen sea bass for dinner. No seafood special this time, but the meat specials were good. They have one table for 6 people that is set off behind a curtain in it's own little alcove. The place is BYOB, so that is a great savings! Dessert was just ok. We shared a canolli. But, that is my only minor disappointment. Honestly, I was too full and only had a taste."

"The staff is attentive and the food is delicious. We happened to be dining on a Thursday between 4 and 6 so we chose our meal from a special menu which offered a 3 course meal for $25. The lobster bisque had delicious lumps of lobster. The mussels were in abundance. Our main course was salmon and risotto. The risotto was slightly undercooked but the salmon was very tasty. We finished our meal with the Tiramisu and the Creme Brulee - both selections were exquisitely prepared. Overall we had an outstanding dining experience."

"We've never been to Arugula during the middle of the week (which might explain the shorter menu) and now that the weather is getting warmer - the menu was definitely lighter and more oriented towards fish.... but I missed some of the choices that had been on the menu the last several times we dined at Arugula. Maybe they just wanted to change things up and everything was delicious. I just missed the Strozzapretti with the Duck Ragu and some of the other chicken entrees. I will be back soon - the food is amazing."

"This was our first visit to Arugula. Our waiter was very attentive and informed us of all the dinner entrees and how they were prepared. He recalled all of the entrees by memory and did not have to read the information from a paper list. He was also very friendly and very nice.
The food was outstanding from the appetizers to the main entree. We were not able to enjoy dessert because we were full. Next time we will save room for dessert. We will definitely return again and are so fortunate that this restaurant is so close to home."

"Very high noise level. I had a veal chop which was a terrible cut of meat. All fat and bones, not at all like other veal chops I have had. Coffe served Luke warm. On the bright side, the appitizers were good. The prices were higher than justified by the food."

"ok place. nothing special. décor was nice, waiter was on point and had suggestions. ordered the pasta. small amt with an average recipe which had lump crab meat. $23 and waiter offered the powdered parm cheese. thought maybe for the price.. a soup or salad and maybe bread that wasn't burned would accompany the ordinary dish I could've made for $5 in my kitchen. unfortunately I wont be returning. its shopping center environment with Breakers pricing."

"We had our first visit to Arugula for Easter dinner. We had heard so many good things about this local restaurant. We were seated as soon as arriving. Guess they were under staffed for the holiday because when the young man came to our table he was surprised no one had delivered bread or opened our wine. I don't think he is a regular waiter since he didn't explain any specials or just welcome us. There was a party of 18-20 next to us so is was very loud at times.Too bad they don't have a room for large parties. Now for the GOOD review. The mussels and sauce and bisque soup were a good start for our meal. Two of us had the pork and one had the scallops. The food was cooked perfect. We will return but not on a holiday"

"This was the 1st Easter Brunch that Arugula has had. Our family goes to Easter Brunch every year, so they were excited when I told them that we were going to Arugula, as we all love the food. While the selection was smaller than they larger venues we were not disappointed!!! We are hoping that they will have an Easter Brunch next year as we will be back!!

"Arugula has become one of our favorite restaurants in South Jersey! We especially like the weekday early-bird special menu, and also always look forward to both the fall and spring restaurant week during which you get to sample the chef's delicious, homey yet gourmet cuisine, at the reasonable price of $35.00 for four courses. It is understandably a busy restaurant, and we would definitely recommend reservations (especially for weekend dining). My husband and I have never been disappointed, and we have taken various friends there because we know that our dining experience will always be first-class and everyone will leave there full of good food, happy thoughts, and plans for future visits!"

"Everything was wonderful from the staff to the delicous and beautifully prepared food. The only negative comment I have is during restaurant week with the $35 4 course menu, they have many options which are an added fee. We go to both NJ and Philly restaurant weeks and have never seen any restaurant do this, including some of the higher end restaurants. This doesn't really quite fit in with the set menu. I did have the Chilean seabass which was an added $8 but it was excellent as well as all the other courses. The staff did go above an beyond to accomodate added people to our reservation and were wonderful all around. This is my 5th time at Arugula and won't be the last!"

"Luckily I have been to arugula before many times. However if this had been my first time I may have not gone back. It was extremely noisy and the service was very slow. It was the last night of restaurant week so they were only offering a set menu. Every other restaurant I have been to during restaurant week has always offered a choice between the limited menu or the regular menu. My husband and I were both disappointed that we could not order off the regular menu."

"We visited during restaurant week. We have dined here before and loved our food. This time, my husband was very happy with his meal, but mine was rather bland. I ordered the shrimp appetizer which was very good but then when my salmon came it was the same presentation.....both were on a bed of cannellini beans.I was dissappointed. The dessert was excellent. Overall a great place to eat but go when you can order from the regular menu.....it is much better than the options on the special menu."

"We visited Arugula during Restaurant week. The menu had a lot of our favs and did not disappoint. The Duck Meatballs appetizer was outstanding, my Sea Bass very flavorful. I always enjoy the poached pear and walnut salad. The bread pudding dessert was divine == warm, firm bread pudding with sauce and ice cream on top....
It was a very crowded, busy night due to Restaurant Week, but our service did not suffer."

"Food was outstanding! Went here for SJ Hot Chefs Restaurant Week. I heard good things. The menu was called "Modern Italian," and it was very good. I had the duck meatballs for an app, the arugula salad (simple, but so delicious) with vinaigrette, Osso Bucco with marscapone polenta (so good!), followed by bread pudding with banana and vanilla ice cream for dessert. The place is BYOB, but we didn't know that. Next time I'll definitely bring wine to go with my meal. The only downside was that the place was loud. It was nice to see it crowded, but the loud talking took away from the ambiance of the place. Still, a great find, and I will definitely go back!"

"This is was my first time visiting. We came for the $35/4 course dinner option. I was surprised to see that not one pasta dinner was listed in the entree section, which forced me to order a separate meal for my 5 yr old child (we were going to share our dinner). For, $10 he got a plate of ravioli. No drink?? No dessert? This was the first time we ordered off the kids menu and the price only included the dinner itself.
Also, once we got the bill, I realized that I was charged an add'l $13 for my meal. I ordered the lobster bisque & sea bass. I did notice the ($5) written after the description of the bisque, but for some reason I must have thought the chives were an "extra" for $5. Same with the sea bass, and the aged balsamic ($"

"Went for Resturant Week. We were given our menus for Resturant Week and ordered. When we got our bill we questioned the waiter as the bill was higher then the advertised price. We were told the items we ordered had a surcharge from the Resturant Week menu and it was noted on the menu. We have been going to Resturant Week for years. Every Resturant would give you a Resturant Week menu and their regular menu and you could order off either. This is the first time we ever faced this situation and the waiter did not point out the the menu was combiner. In fact he indicated this was the Resturant Week menu. We feel we were duped with the way the menu was presented and will not return. The food was good but the noise level was way to high."

"It was SJ Restaurant Week and the menu was abbreviated due to the fixed price - but it was very inventive and a great value. We had a large table of 8 and had a great time. The restaurant was filled and it seemed like everyone was enjoying a delicious meal. I would highly recommend Arugula and I intend to go back very soon!!"
