"Lula Cafe is a really friendly spot for dinner. The staff were polite and helpful. It was noisy but in a good way; everybody was clearly having a great time. We had a very nice white Burgundy. Our main dishes were quite good. We had buckwheat orecchiette with duck and short ribs, both of which we'd gladly have again. I thought the appetizers--a warm burrata and a yellowtail ceviche--were good, but less successful than the main dishes. I'd definitely go back."

"Made our reservation online and was looking forward to dinner. It was a nice night to sit outside but apparently our waiter didn't remember we were there. The service was painfully slow - took forever to get our food, they brought the wrong entree for my husband and we were done with our meals before the glasses of wine we ordered made it there. Even getting the check was an ordeal and we had to ask a different server for it. The cheese plate was tasty, as was the braised pork, orichette with kale and even dessert. But wouldn't go back."

"I have been very lax in getting to Lula for dinner and am so glad I finally made it! What a wonderful meal, with creative, locally sourced cuisine and excellent, professional yet friendly service. It is so refreshing to be able to eat this well without having to reserve weeks ahead of time and have the evening turn into a precious event. Thank you Lula and I will be making up for much lost time by visiting again soon!"

"Came across on accident, were 'lost' in the neighborhood, scrolling through restaurant listings in our Acura's navigation system.
Lula was one of the only ones in the area with a decent Zagat rating so we thought why not.
I was able to make a reservation immediately through my Open Table app which was fantastic.
Modern minimal country chic decor, nice wine list but not much on the menu to choose from.
Between my dietary restrictions and my date's food allergies, there were only a couple things we could have.
We ended up sharing a salad and a sandwich. Dessert looked good but we were surprisingly full.
Will definitely visit again."

"Lula is a fantastic restaurant that I'd highly recommend to anyone looking for a great meal in Chicago. The food and service were great and the atmosphere was perfect. "We took a group of 7 out for dinner to celebrate our niece's college graduation. She chose this restaurant and we are glad

"We had heard a lot about this place and finally decided to try it. We went on a Sunday night--which was perfect. The dining room had the last rays of the day's sunlight filtering in through the stained glass window and curtains.. we felt like we were in Paris. The dining room is as cozy as a warm hug, and the food was just as comforting. We started with the tortellini appetizer--beautiful pillows of pasta filled with this transcendent cheese, slightly melted. My only complaint about this dish is that I wanted more! I had the chicken..perfect comfort food, crispy skin, moist and juicy on the inside. My boyfriend had the ham and raclette sandwich, which he absolutely devoured. In short, Lula Cafe is a gem. We'll be back."

"The food is very good. It is creative and every dish was impressive. The problem was that we sat in the open area which really felt like you were eating in the middle of a bar. That would be OK if entrees weren't $25+. Also, the service was a bit slow. Our waiter was very busy and they are in need of some more. I would try this for brunch, not sure I would do it again for dinner. Despite all of this, the food is most definitely worth it."

"I made a reservation for Chef's Week expecting, as I thought was typical, a choice of one of 3 appetizers, one of three entrees and one of three desserts for a prix-fixe. There was however no choice; there was an appetizer, an entree and a dessert for the fixed price, take it or leave it. After the initial disappointment however we selected from the menu and the food was very good. The table we were given was in the back room and one from the back corner. The table seemed smaller than most and in general my impression was of being cramped. I would go back for the food though would either eat at the front bar or request a better table."

"I always enjoy my experience at Lula. The menu is interesting and offers good choices for omnivores and vegetarians alike. The staff is almost always friendly and knowledgable. It can be a little loud but not intolerable. I'm a bit older than their average demographic (54) but I always enjoy hanging with the younger hipsters. Finally, Logan Blvd. makes for a lovely after dinner stroll."

"I don't think there is a more gifted chef with a vegetable in his hand than Jason Hammel. The food at Lula is so delicious, with ingredients sourced with the utmost integrity. As my neighborhood spot for over ten years, I've seen the restaurant raise its bar time and time again. Always challenging itself to get better, and BREAKFAST! (or brunch) is to die for. Always surprising and delightful, I could eat there every night."
