Paul Martin's serves up dishes aimed at taking diners back to the American farm with meat raised in a humane and wholesome way, locally sourced organic produce, fish from conscientious fishmongers, artisan cheeses and cured meats from small local purveyors and custom-made bread from expert bakers. The California-centric wine list twists and turns, by glass or bottle, through the Golden State's fruitful vineyards, with an occasional stop for an Oregon Pinot Gris or a Washington dry Riesling. Behind Paul Martin's elegantly rustic bar is an interesting array of local craft beer and spirited cocktails with fresh garnishes. "Very nice place, we already experience the good food and ambience.
In a warm day the best plate to pick is the Grilled Prawn Salad and a side of the delicious sweet potatoes fries.

"We had the whole family (6 of us) for Mom's day. The prime rib and hanger steak were excellent. The oysters were fresh and the teenagers LOVED the burgers and fries. Big portions on the burger/fries. Really nice place for Mom's Day dinner."

"Although the waitress was cordial, even friendly, her service was slow. It took time for her to serve our drinks, take our order, and deliver dessert. (Once our order was taken, the food did come out of the kitchen in a timely manner.) They pride themselves on their fresh ingredients which was evident in the fresh butter lettuce and arugula salad, and in the house salad that we ordered, but the meals were just not special. Their drink selection (specialty beers and mixed drinks) was very nice, but it didn't make up for the rest of the food. I wanted to like this place because the ambience was nice for a restaurant in the Irvine Spectrum, but the food was not special and service was too slow to put it on my "recommend" list."

"We decided to give this restaurant a try for Mother's Day. We had two menu options, brunch and regular menu. All 4 of us choice an item from the regular menu. After we were promptly seated and our drink orders were taken, our server disappeared for a long while. We finally placed our orders and proceeded to wait an incredibly long time for our meals. When they arrived, all 4 were barely on the warm side. The flavor and freshness were great, they had clealy been sitting out for some time. We did not make a fuss at the time, it was after all Mother's Day and it appeared their wait staff was on the newer side. We will give this place one more try for dinner, hopefully, our experience was just a fluke."

"We were there as a table of 6 and enjoyed the round table rather than a long one.. It's noisy but it was the night before Mother's Day so every restaurant was busy.. Great food, great service. But the Hostess was especially wonderful.. Three of our party was late and they were still kind, warm and welcoming. And the waitress was not bothered at all. Took care of us like we were are seated.. And it was really busy. They didn't rush us. I'd be back!"

"Wanting to eat somewhere different for a graduation celebration, I chose Paul Martin's to my delight. Loved the ambiance, enjoyed the the raved about, braised short ribs, which fell apart at the touch of my fork and melted in my mouth. Made from scratch desserts were flavorful. Great experience."

"Previous visits were good, but this evening was really poor. The hostess seated our group at two separate tables and we wasted 20 minutes waiting for each other to arrive before we realized what happened. Our server seemed unfamiliar with the menu and very slow bringing our food. No bread offered. Waited another 20 minutes just for the salads. The grilled polenta w vegetables and chicken was OK, but the baby carrots were inedible. I could not cut them, even with my knife. Very disappointing because they do have a good wine list and good menu selections, but my friends (their first visit) will not return. Not sure I will either."

"I was first introduced to Paul Martin's a year ago and have gone back quite a few times. The restaurant is not close to my home but is right across the street from my work. I have eaten there for lunch numerous times and a couple of times for dinner right after work (avoiding the traffic)."

"Service was terrible. The waiter never offered more complimentary bread. The steak came with no steak knife. I had to ask a busboy to bring me a steak knife. Our water glasses never got refilled the entire time. I had to ask another waiter for more water. He never brought us water either. The steak was supposed to be medium. It came out medium well. We had to approach the waiter to ask for the check so we could leave."

"Very enjoyable evening. I came for my boyfriend's 30th birthday and our server (Michael) was fantastic. Very friendly, great tips, and pleasant. Our food was delicious (Brick Chicken & Ribeye). I would definitely come again. The caesar salad was pretty good. The bacon mac & cheese was good (not amazing). The complimentary bread was oddly the worst thing about our meal which I'll take any day over my food being bad. It was cold (almost like it was refrigerated) and a bit hard. Might have been delicious toasted just a bit."

"This was our first visit to this now 2 year old restaurant. Parking via Valet is right outside the door, so very handy. The restaurant opens at 11. We arrived a couple of minutes before out 11:15 reservation. There was one other couple just behind us and a ringing phone. The phone got priority. More staff arrived in a minute or two, so not a big deal, but that is what hold buttons are for.
Food was fresh, hot, good, and delivered to the table for our meal. This brunch includes an opening fruit bowl, choice of beverages (including a short list of alcohol items) and one's choice of several entrees. Also very good bread and butter in ample supply. All this for just $19 per person. Definitely recommend this restaurant."

"We went for brunch ordered Eggs Benedict were good, not the best, however, still good. On the other hand the Bloody Mary was one of the best I have ever had, spicy with a great kick...then topped off with bacon! Yes, bacon!!!!! The value for brunch is excellent! Will be back very soon! "Very, very bad. We were seated for my hubby's birthday brunch at 1:20PM; however 15 minutes went by and we never had a server come over. We sat at the corner table (booth) in front of a very long table facing the bar. No -- no one came over. The restaurant was not busy at all. We ate elsewhere at the Irvine Spectrum! :("

"This was my second trip to Paul Martin's. I went a week ago for lunch w a girl friend and enjoyed it so much I told my husband that was the place for date night. I love that much of the menu is organic and some locally sourced. You have to get the Mac & Cheese and the Wild Mushroom soup is possibly the best I've found yet. I also ordered the Jumbo Prawn Cocktail. The shrimp were actually jumbo and the house made cocktail sauce was great. Definitely a place to try."

"We have been to Paul Martin five or six times in the last year. Each time it gets better. This last trip was with a group of nine. They did an excellent job and the short ribs are near perfect."

"Paul Martin's always delivers a great meal. I've been for brunch and dinner and the food is great every time. Prix Fixe brunch is great. Includes a cocktail. I love their Bloody Mary that comes with a slice of bacon. The eggs benedict were fantastic. Perfectly poached egg and not drowning in hollandaise sauce."
