"My husband was dissapointed in the ribs, overccooked and dry. Pork chop was ok, but nothing memorable, too much cherry sauce and it ruined the mashed potatoes. However, the Baked Alaska, was out of this world. I would go back for lunch and this dessert, but not dinner."

"Group of 9, including a three year old. Brought our own wine and corkage was waived because it was lunch! Celebrating our daughter's High School Graduation. The Calamari was "out of this world" We will be back just for that! Great time was had by all.

"Sat down at 7:00 p.m. with friends for dinner. Service was both slow and very off from prior experiences -- asked for water with no ice and got ice; had to ask for wine to be opened and poured; had to ask for bread to the table when saw it delivered to other tables; constantly had to ask the status of our food courses. By 8:55 p.m., we had still not gotten our main courses and when we asked, we were told about 5 more minutes. At this point, we canceled the rest of the order as we didn't believe this would be the case. We had shared salads, calamari and pizza that were all good. The manager came by to say he would not charge us and apologize. This was definitely an off night due to a larger party taking much attention."

"I took out-of-town guests for dinner to Cindy's Wood Grill and we had a lovely meal. The menu has a good variety of items to choose from at reasonable prices for the area. It was too warm to eat outside but that area looked very inviting. All of the food was very good, the service was good to very good but due to a large, rowdy party the noise level was extremely loud & irritating & we were there in the early part of the evening! Also the booths are uncomfortable because the backs lean too far back so there is no support unless you slouch. I'd suggest sitting at a table with chairs. I will definitely return for lunch sometime."

"I suspect something was amiss Saturday night. The food was good, the service was bad. Our order had not been taken within 30 minutes of being seated. I spoke with the floor manager briefly and asked that we have better service for a more optimal experience. He said thank you, visited the table and did comp an appetizer-- that was very good. While I appreciated his effort, it would have been better to just have good service, I wasn't looking for free goods. The waiter forgot utensils and orders, he touched our shoulders excessivley; was overly animated. I think the manager did try to correct the situation- as there were a handful of people attending to us for a few minutes. But that fizzled quickly, and the waiter couldn't pull it off."

"This is now going to be one of our go to places. The food was wonderful, I had the short ribs with polenta while my husband had the ribs. Both were very flavorful and seasoned just right. Plus it was just the right amount of food since we knew we wanted dessert and we had already shared the onion rings. Next time we are not going to share the onion rings we are each going to have our own. Dessert was the bread pudding with strawberries, again just wonderful and just the right amount. I also enjoyed a couple of chocolate martini's that the bar tender put just the right spin on. We also liked the fact that although we were celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary we didn't have to get all dressed up, casual is more our style."

"We were tired of not being able to get into the Rutherford Grill....they don't take reservations and it's too crowded. So, for a change, we drove down the hwy toward St. Helena and discovered Cindy's Wood Grill & Wine Bar. We like Cindy's Backstreet Kitchen located in St. Helena, so we figured we wouldn't be disappointed. We ate there twice, both for late afternoon lunch. Had no problem eating inside or outside on the patio. The service was top notch. Our favorite appetizers were the pork belly, egg plant sticks, and oysters. We enjoyed the fish of the day, the ribs, and the duck! So flavorful!!! Could not ignore having something sweet. We liked the lemon pudding cake, root beer float, and the ginger beer and rhubarb sorbet float."

"I've been to all the other Cindy Pawlcyn restaurants. This one falls short. The food isn't quite as good as her Backstreet Kitchen and well short of Mustards. It's not bad if you are in a bind and other comparables aren't available, but I certainly hope a backstop restaurant isn't what Ms. Pawlcyn was aiming for. It really needs to find its own niche."

"My wife and I have been to Mustard's many times. We decided to try one Cindy Pawlcyn's other ventures. We had been here before when it had a different name and menu. It now seems more casual and it is quieter than Mustard's. As older people this is a big help. We had the fish special which was Halibut and started with the carrot soup. We liked the idea that we could have either the small plates or a regular dinner. The service was great and we loved the dinner even thou it was a bit bland. We noticed that there were a lot of local families who seem to love the Pizzas and the hamburgers."

"We had a 6 PM on a Wednesday reservation so the restaurant was empty so noise level was quiet. Service was spotty. It is my expectation that when a wait staff person walks into the dinning room they should be looking around to make sure that the diners are ok. We had to flag down someone three times - which you could maybe understand if the restaurant was busy but they were not. The food was good not exceptional. With so many great restaurants in the area managers and owners need to focus on training their wait staff on the little details that make the dinning experience a cut above the rest."

"The food was good but not great. The eggplant fries were lackluster. The mussels were good but they were served in barely a centimeter of broth. The cucumber gazpacho was refreshing and delicious. I had heard the service was poor but we found it to be just the opposite. Very attentive, friendly server. The wines served by the glass ("wine on tap") were good; the syrah and viognier we had were delicious and reasonably priced.
We were dining with two children but they brought the adults' food out before bringing the kids' food (I have worked in restaurants and that's a big no-no. We should all be eating together.)
Maybe the entrees are in a different league than the staters but I was expecting a bit more and was somewhat disappointed."

"The food was Ok! The pork belly was good as was the chocolate 'souffle'. The pork chop was only so so. Brining it in cola did not appear to make any measurable change to the taste. "We came here last minute to celebrate our anniversary. Part of the reason for going was the eggplant fries we had when it was Brassica, but unfortunately they didn't quite live up to our memories (not as crisp as we had remembered). What we had for dinner, though, more than made up for that one shortcoming. We started with oysters (fresh from Wash state) and had a salmon and braised short rib meal. It was all outstanding.
Glad to see that they are sticking with the small producer wine list (although not as many by the glass) bcuz it allowed us to have something that went with each dish.
We sat outside which is a great location for families (with dogs as well) and lovers like us.

"The food was wonderful and reasonably priced. I don't know if they were short staffed but it took a long time to get our drinks and 50 minutes to get our first course (salad). We had to flag down the staff for water refills and to get additional silverware after they took them away with the first course. Our waiter seemed very professional, but didn't listen when I told him whose birthday it was and brought the candle dessert to the wrong person. Since we were in no rush, we had a nice lunch."

"Cindy has done it again! Her Wood Grill is a bit like Mustard's North also incorporating elemnents of her other restaurants with new twists, including a much wider selection of wines (100 by the glass) and a great price point. The oysters, ribs, sole and eggplant fries are not to be missed - along with the desserts of course. I can't wait for the garden to open!"

"The waiter was great but we waited forever for food. No explanation was given. The food was good but WAY overpriced for what it was. My friends and I ate in a variety of restaurants while in St. Helena and Yountville and this would be on the bottom of the list."

"The staff and management were very friendly and extremely helpful in making suggestions for choices. For the area, the prices were very reasonable. The pork belly (even though it initially sounded suspect) was by far our favorite appetizer out of the few choices we went with. Although, just about everything we had was delicious. While we did not have previous experience with any of Cindy Pawcyn's restaurants, we all left very satisfied and would not hesitate to try again. This is definitely a place that you don't want to pass by while you are driving through St. Helena."

"Wow...what a meal! We went with the recommended specials and 2 oz wine pairings. The ability to taste local wines not available elsewhere was a real plus. In addition, a local vintner was pouring samples from his family winery down the street. We were all invited to come see the property...and we will when we come back next month."

"The new spring menu is wonderful. I had fresh tasting asparagus with gribiche to start. For my main, I had another new spring menu item: fall-off-the-bone baby back ribs. They were terrific! Just the right combination of sweet and spicy. And served with cole slaw, biscuits and honey butter. I cannot wait to have them again! My husband had the daily special sunchoke soup and risotto carbonara and loved them both. Although we were full, we had to sample one of the new spring desserts. We shared the bread pudding with creme fraiche ice cream and fresh strawberries. It was even better than strawberry shortcake. Each time we return to Cindy Pawlcyn's Wood Grill and Wine Bar, it keeps getting better."

"The ambiance was good and the food was innovative, but it was very expensive. Lunch for 3 came to $195 WITHOUT TIP. We did not have a bottle of expensive wine. We did have a plate of oysters that were $36 so that added a lot to the total. We saw them later at a notable restaurant for $1.50 each, which confirmed our belief that they were overpriced at Cindy's."
