The French expression "A la bonne franquette" is typically used around food. "A la bonne franquette" means that the food is homey and prepared without fuss. It’s all about the simplicity of the food and sharing it with friends and family. The food at A la bonne Franquette bistro is prepared using French techniques and recipes. It's also infused with Arabic spices which reflect Chef Hamed's Sudanese origins and nomadic life style through the great continent of Africa and the many influences he has encountered while living in Africa, Europe and in the United States.
"This is a very pretty room on the Leschi Ridge, with a view out towards Elliott Bay; the decor is modest, romantic and thoughtful. If you can appreciate a well-curated menu of simple French dishes, executed perfectly, delivered with discreet efficiency (and a bit of sass), this is heaven. I had black cod that could not have been better -- it came sizzling and very slightly undercooked. As I savored each silky bite, it cooled to exactly the correct degree of doneness, a neat trick. My husband, torn between a chicken leg with couscous (he loves dark meat!) and a chicken breast with mushrooms (he loves mushrooms!), chose the breast. The bone-in breast was moist, tender and flavorful, the sauce somehow both earthy and delicate. Classic."

"Our first time at this restaurant coincided with a rare 80 degree day and a glorious sunset. The view here is unexpected (city with Sound and Mts. behind) and turns blue then pink in the sunset. Small, busy, good food, excellent service, average prices - a winner!"

"I use open table to frequent many of Seattle's great restaurants, but this one was a real find! They were able to give us a stellar view, and pair it with stellar service and unmatched food. Would definitely go back and we definitely say take your date here!"

"Ala Bonne Franquette is a terrific and genuine French restaurant -- the food is wonderful; the variety is perfect - really good regular menu and always one or two terrific specials; all of the staff are uniformly terrific -- bartender, wait staff, owner, chef, sou chef -- friendly, knowledgeable, happy to share cooking secrets. Make this a regular spot for just yourself or friends and family."

"We were pleasantly surprised with this gem. We drove 45 minutes (Friday eve. traffic) based on the reviews and it was worth it. The chicken liver pate starter with mango chutney and cornichons was smooth and flavorful served with delicious baguette slices. The Green Verte salad we shared was simple: lovely fresh greens, cherry tomato halves and a tangy vinagrette. We both had the rib eye steak, perfectly cooked and served with a custard like potato gratin and baby green beans with shallots which I could have had for my entire meal they were so perfect. The chocolate pots d' creme is delicious, super creamy and chocolatey. Service: friendly and professional. Pacing: spot on. We were there at 6:15 so ahead of the crowd. View: worth the drive"

"Had a wonderful meal here with a group of friends. Enjoyed the vegetarian plate. A friend really enjoyed the clams. Had a very nice mango sorbet for dessert."

"No problems parking at this cozy little restaurant. Dinner for three with $15 corkage fee for our own bottle of wine was $135, maybe just a bit pricey. But, the restaurant is very unique and comfortable. We liked our servers, and tip them we did. We will be back soon."

"We had another great meal at A la bonne franquette. The food was excellent (if served a little fast!), the service was friendly and personable, and the atmosphere was wonderful. My only wish is that served pommes frites!"

"This restaurant is the perfect hidden gem. The menu is simple, yet outstanding and fresh, with creative cocktails and an enjoyable wine list. It has a cozy feel with a breathtaking view of the city. It is a spot we regularly frequent for a reliably delicious dinner and laid back evening."

"We had a lovely "date night" here. We actually sat at the bar as it had a nice view of the skyline, and the bartender was very sharp, knowledgeable and friendly with both the drink options AND the entire menu. Both service and food were top-notch. Our only "complaint" would be that we are never fans of the "banquette" seating where you are seemingly right on top of the people next to you (another reason we sat at the bar). Overall, lovely. We will be back."

"Another wonderful evening at A La Bonne Franquette. Our waiter (who also served as the bartender) was amazing. Friendly. Interesting. Knowledgable. The food was impressive. I had a perfectly prepared salmon with the best brussel sprouts ever. And this is coming from someone who roasts and roasts and roasts vegetables every chance I get. My partner had a perfectly seared steak with great sides. We started with the Tartines and ended with a chocolate custard dessert. Perfect fun evening.
The view of the city lights from the restaurant is always a pleasant surprise."

"We had a very nice dining experience. The food and service were really good -- we appreciated the server's suggestions on what we ordered, and he was very friendly. The potato gratin and the restaurant temperature were both a bit cool. We loved the bread pudding."

"We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. It is a small but charming restaurant with very good food. The chocolate pot o creme dessert we had was fantastic. It also just added a full bar in the back part of the restaurant which has a very nice ambiance, especially nice as a neighborhood spot."
