"It annoys me that anytime you want to make the slightest change to a meal, you are charged extra. If you want to change potato or pasta side to a vegetable to keep meal healthier, you are charged extra. This is rediculous. especially in this day and age of folks trying to make a conscious effort to eat healthier."

"I had been to LaScala's previously so knew what to expect. I was a bit disappointed this time as the spaghetti which I ordered with my veal parmesan was overcooked and "mushy". Also, I had to ask for some bread as none was ever served until I made the request. I shouldn't have to ask for something that comes with my meal. Server was very polite,, however. I would still go back there as the location is great."

"We had eaten at LaScala's in Newtown and it was great. Drinks took forever, Calamari was mediocre. Veal parm and another veal dish were bad. How can an Italian restaurant do veal badly? I had a seafood pasta that was extremely light on seafood. Due to slow service, we were comped on desserts. They were awesome, but could not make up for bad entrees. They also did not have our Open Table reservation on arrival, but sat us right away--now I know why. Should have planned ahead and gone to La Veranda!"

"I have been to LaScala's many times and have had nothing but positive experiences. The food is fantastic, the service is great (attentive without being annoying) and they have a nice wine list. My friends & I also love the free parking garage, as it can be difficult to park for those not used to driving in the city. Some of the seating is along the front & side windows which makes it fun to people-watch. The dishes I love the most are the roasted beet salad and the gnocchi - it is so light & delicious, and their sauce/gravy is very flavorful. There are always several nice dessert choices, though I prefer the standard tiramisu or cannoli to top off the meal."

"Place was average. The food was good and the portions generous. The wine list was poor and the few good selections were not even available. They did comp us a bottle due to the fact they were out of stock on two bottles we asked for. The food was tasty but not of the quality of a Davio's or Panorama. I enjoyed the meatballs and the chopped salad. The veal parm was a nice portion but did not stand out from others.Bar area is crowded and barkeeps could use an infusion of personality. Wait staff was average again a few steps down from the heavyweights in Phila dining. Beats Olive Garden but can't compete with real places."

"LaScala's is what often happens when a restaurant has been in business to long and begins to take the customer for granted. We arrived for an early dinner on Saturday. After a few minutes the host arrived at his stand. Notice I didn't say he greeted us. No 'hello, welcome to LaScalas', no smile, barely an acknowledgment. We were seated and all was going well until we placed our order. Not enough room here to explain the details but let's just say he got it wrong and then argued with us about it when we questioned him. Food was OK, nothing special. There are plenty of Italian restaurants in Philly. Go to one that appreciates your business."

"If you are out of options and most places in philadelphia are all booked up, then maybe you should go to LaScala's. The sirloin bruschetta was pretty tasty, but the ambience made me feel like I was sitting in chili's and the server barely ever came around to check on us. The best part of my meal was the basil strawberry sangria. I would go back for maybe just a drink. It's not great, not bad either."

"Our server Frank was very accommodating and friendly. He was also patient with our slow pace of ordering and enjoying our dinner.
The pork tenderloin special was exceptional; very moist and great flavor. The lamb shank special was also a big hit.
This is a "go to" place and you cannot beat the free parking."

"The waiter knew exactly what everyone ordered and served our table of 6. Wow, I thought that Philadelphia didn't have any trained waiters given my experience at other establishments. So nice not to have a tell the waiter what we ordered as the food was delivered!
We really appreciated that the air conditioning was turned down as soon as we told our waiter that we were cold. We were by the front window and there were not that many people in the restaurant that Monday at lunch.

"We have dined at LaScala's several times and are always pleased with our meals, service and pricing. Our most recent visit was no exception. We were greeted promptly and seated. Our waiter arrived shortly and provided friendly and professional service. The meals and drinks arrived in just the right amount of time - no rush but no delays. Perfect.
The food itself has always been spot-on - very tasty and well presented. We have never had anything but GREAT FOOD.
The manager stopped by once to see if we were OK. Our bill was very reasonable - especially for a big city. We will return."

"My fiancee and I came here for Valentine's Day dinner and it was delicious. We ordered from the everyday menu instead of the price-set menu. He had the lamp chops; and I don't think he spoke all dinner because he was enjoying them so much:) The portion sizes are large, which i was not expecting, but I was pleasantly surprised.
I highly recommend eating here for something special."
