Perfect for a relaxed country meal, a weekend getaway or a glass of wine by the fire: it is hard to imagine a more picturesque setting than the Golden Pheasant Inn. Located between the Delaware River and Canal in a historic fieldstone inn, we are one hour and fifteen minutes from New York City or Philadelphia, and only 20 minutes north of New Hope, PA. We have been family owned and operated for over 26 years. Our emphasis is on fresh, locally sourced ingredients, with a menu that changes seasonally. "The newly renovated Golden Pheasant is a rare treat. Our appetizers were interesting and delicious, locally sourced fiddlehead fern salad. Our entrees were delicious as well, perfectly cooked wild Halibut and locally raised Duck. We loved the views of the Delaware River and the canal from the dining room. A very nice wine list and a great selection of local craft beers on tap.
Can't wait to go back and dine on the outdoor terrace overlooking the canal."

"One of the best restaurants for an exceptional evening of great food, ambience, and a retreat from everyday life. My wife and I have been coming to the Golden Pheasant since 2005. It is our restaurant of choice for Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, special occassions, or just a nice night out."

"We had a wonderful Mother's Day dinner. Everything was spectacular! Food was beautifully presented, fresh and delicious. Yolanda was our waitress and she was very professional, knowledgable and pleasant. We all had different entrees which is always interesting and everyone was pleased. Brittany is very kind and gracious upon arrival as always! Decor, flowers and ambience was stunning as always. Thank you for a wonderful experience! We will be back again."

"Stone building built in 1857 beautifully restored with new windowed great room. Fabulous view of the Delaware River on route 32. Emphasis on local produce, fish, meats, etc. Mostly traditional menu. Also a hotel with wonderful accommodations. Appropriate menu item is breast of pheasant."

"We had driven by The Golden Pheasant many times but hadn't tried it because the menu was Classic French which isn't our thing. When we found out that the menu had changed to contemporary American, we made reservations for our anniversary. We loved everything about it. The atmosphere, with views overlooking the Delaware River on one side and the Delaware Canal on the other, is wonderful. The menu, featuring locally-sourced ingredients is fresh and inventive and the food was excellent. The service was attentive and pleasant. We plan to return soon."

"I chose the leaf lettuce salad with goat cheese and sunflower seeds laced with a vinigrette dressing . Vinaigrette in my mind should be sweet and not creamy. So I didn't care for it. My husband likes to eat mussels and he thinks you offer the best. He was not disappointed. My main entree was wild mushroom ravioli, which I did not like. The ravioli was topped with too much cheese and could have been cooked a bit longer.The entree was too "dry" for my taste. A light cream sauce would have made it better. I do not recall what my husband's main entree was but he had no complaints. For the finale we shared the chocolate mousse cake. The filling was terrific, the cake too was dry."

"i'm not sure what i liked more, the excellent service and knowledgeable staff or the superb food or the beautiful setting. it was a wonderful place to celebrate an early mother's day and we all enjoyed it enormously. the smoked trout appetizer rocked, the butter lettuce salad w/ chevre and sunflower seeds was very tasty and the duck was wonderful. the kitchen was good about a few substitutions and service was attentive and could describe not only the dishes but the history of the inn, restaurant and the chefs.

"The restaurant is in a very secluded place along the Delaware river. We liked this. Once you walked inside, you are greeted by great people and we were served very quickly. The menu seems interesting having a nice variety of cheese… we enjoyed them all. The soup (daily special of watercress) was pretty good as well as the pate and toasts. The entrees were average. We had the filet Mignon and it was nothing impressive. Mash potatoes seem quite dry – like they were served 20 mins before the steak was it on the plate. Dessert was ok – we had the roasted pears with orange cake – flavor was ok but very bad presentation. As said before, not a bad dinner but will rate it slightly below average. We will not be back."

"My husband and I had dinner at the Golden Pheasant recently. Our initial check in and seating was a bit chaotic as the restaurant was very busy. We were seated in the large room to the left of the bar, where the noise level was very loud. However, once we settled in and were greeted by our server, Maria, everything was great. Service was excellent, there was no rushing, and the food was superb. Ingredients were gorgeous and prepared in a way to showcase them, and allow them to shine. We had the Washington state oysters, split a salad of Bibb lettuce and blood orange, and I had the duck breast and my husband had the lamb shank. Maria our server, was terrific. The outdoor patio on the canal was beautiful, too!"

"Food was indeed outstanding. The noise level was high - too high for this to be an intimate, romantic spot. (That being said, I don't think "romantic" is what the owners are after.) Service was attentive, but a bit too familiar for my taste, at the start and then dropped off completely. Wine service was non-existent: no knowledgeable help with the list, impossible to get someone to fill wine glasses so we just dragged the wine bucket cooler closer to the table and passed the bottle around. At the end of the meal, I was weary of trying to make sure the others at my table had what they needed. At these prices, I expected a better-trained, more refined staff."

"Since the weather was so nice, we asked to sit outside on the terrace by the canal. The outdoor furnishings and landscaping are really lovely.
We shared a delicious Kale salad with locally foraged Morel mushrooms and for entrees had the shrimp and salmon. The food was exquisite, perfectly seasoned and prepared. For dessert we tried the signature ice cream flavor that Ow Wow Cow makes just for the restaurant. Wow!
Even though it was a really busy Saturday night with all the tables full, our server was attentive and our food arrived promptly.
We will definitely be back to enjoy the lovely terrace."

"My husband and I ate with another couple on a Saturday night. It was very crowded and the staff seemed overwhelmed and unprepared for the demands. The hostess and waitstaff were unprofessional in their attitudes of customer care. No bread was served while waiting. My husbands entree did not arrive with the other three. The waitress announced that she had punched in the wrong order and so it would be "a few more minutes". At that time my husband asked for another glass of wine. His meal arrived after the three of us were done with ours. His glass of wine arrived after he was done with his late entree! No apologies were made but they did comp our desserts. If we ever go back, it will be when it's not so busy. Food was ok."

"I ordered the scallops with the celeriac puree. The sauce had coagulated and had a film on it when served, and the scallops were tepid. The entree was $26.00 and there were three average sized scallops. It seemed more like an appetizer portion. The sauce had a nice flavor but the celeriac puree was bland. There were very few people in the restaurant and it took an inordinate amount of time for my friend to receive her cocktail."

"service was rather sparce. 1 server for approx 25 tables. passing their arms in front of your face to serve dishes, sloppily laying silverware on the wrong side, not returning to the table for additional service or drink orders, 2 pats of butter, 1 teaspoon of evoo, salt, and 1/16 of a teaspoon of olive tapenade to serve 4 people and a large bread basket. i guess only 2 people could have butter. although the view and ambience was fabulous i did pay $$$ handsomly for the skimpy portions. claim to still present a french presence was absent with menu selection. wanted pheasant breast that was off the menu and miss my frogs legs. sorely miss the original establishment."

"Couldn't wait to go back to the Pheasant for my birthday. We were welcomed at the door by Brittney with a Happy Birthday wish. We were seated in the room overlooking the river and the canal. Mary was our server this evening. She made us feel like family and made many good suggestions. As always, the food and wine were excellent and priced just right.. I like the idea that all of the food is purchased from local suppliers. It means so much to know that it is either made, grown or raised just a few miles from the Inn. As we left Kevin the bartender shook my hand and wished me a Happy Birthday as well. I guess the word was out, The Pheasant is fine dinning at its best. Suggest you give it a try..."

"Our first time back since inn was renovated. The place looks magnificent, but it lost the coziness of the old inn. Food was very good; preparation was inconsistent among courses. For instance, the pea puree lacked salt, but the onion soup was perfect. The oysters were excellent, but the cocktail sauce that accommpanied them was mediocre. The lamb shank entree was enormous, but there was no starch offered as a side, only brussels sprouts, which were prepared well. Service was the biggest issue. Our server was too friendly. She kept putting her hand on my shoulder when attending the table; I didn't appreciate the contact. Additionally she brought the wrong wine to the table, which I luckily caught upon inspection."

"Very nice resturant with a great view of the Delaware River. Two large dining rooms flank either side of a well stocked bar. Nice ambiance and very efficient and friendly waitress the night we were there. The food was very good. The Golden Pheasant Inn tries to use local sources for their ingredients and it show with the quality of the food. One of the pleasant surprises was the very reasonable prices on the wine list. They clearly want to sell wine and keep the mark up low."

"Absolutely beautiful renovations to this historic stone building on the river! Cozy bar, excellent food and good wine list. The servers were friendly and NOT imposing at all (My latest peeve is when the server asks "Is everything alright?" every two minutes!) It would be a neat place to have a party or a wedding, or even to just spend the night. We'll definitely be back later this spring or the summer to sit outside and eat with a wonderful view... This one's a keeper!"

"Had been to the inn several years ago. Knew it had closed and was pleasantly surprised when it reopened following wonderful renovations. Decided to surprise my wife with a romantic dinner (she had never been there). The evening was perfect. Ambiance wonderful. The staff moved us close to the fireplace. We love cheese plates and the choices offered were just perfect for our appetizer. I had chicken and my wife halibut. Portions were ample and we had no room for dessert. Having such a nice time, my wife inquired if there were rooms available. A spur of the moment- and romantic- decision transformed us from dinner to the Delaware Suite- an absolutely outstanding large room, wonderfully furnished with a gas fireplace and fresh roses."

"We and our guests had a great time on Saturday evening. The Inn's renovations are outstanding. The food was fresh, local and very good. Our server, was exceptional!!!! Our only complaint was the noise level in the "sun room", very noisy. One of our guests has a hearing problem and it was very difficult for him to hear at our table.
We would be happy to reccommend the restaurant to others. We will be back!"

"We had not been in 10 years and after reading some of the great reviews thought we would try it again. We won't be back. The wine list was mediocre at best. I started with the soup of the day, which I thought was pretty good and getting off to a good start but it went downhill from there. My husband ordered the duck and I got the local chicken breast and both were barely palatable. The sauces were entirely too sweet and overbearing. The one thing we can say about the whole experience was the friendly and timely service but the kitchen needs a lesson or two. There are too many other great restaurants in the area to be wasting our time at this one."

"Me and my girlfriend have lived in Erwinna our entire lives and have never been to The Golden Pheasant before. Must have passed it a million times on my way to and from New Hope and never stopped in. Well that all changed when I took my girlfriend there for Valentines Day. From the moment we walked in the staff was top notch, the food was out of this world and the drinks were heavenly. I really love that they try to source all there ingredients from local farms or venders, and our server was very knowledgeable about the local community. A++++ I would recommend The Golden Pheasant to anybody."
