"We have tried this place a couple times, and both times the food was terrible. The last time we ate there my husband got food poisoning. The service was excellent and the bartender was great. We would only go back maybe for a drink, but will never eat there again unless major changes in the cooking staff."

"We celebrated a 50th birthday and a 34th anniversary (4 of us) and had a great time. The food was spectacular. Best I've had in a long long time. Service was great. Absolutely no complaints and will return next time I'm in Murphys."

"Maybe the best Hors D'oeuvres menu I have ever encountered. Every time we have eaten there (3-4 per year), we have discovered unique combos of flavor. This time it was a fig stuffed with bleu cheese wrapped in bacon that was flash deep fried. Amazing experience biting it to the little morsel."

"Had dinner here for the first time on a very busy St. Patricks Day weekend - when the town of Murphy's is really crowded. Our waitress was very attentive and her service was excellent. The food was very slow coming out - and was barely warm when it arrived at our table. The portions were just right and the items (lamb chops and scallops) were very delictable, and the side of veggies was even better. We had to ask for bread to go with dinner - unusual for a resturant of this caliber. The entire experience was very average, and a bit disappointing given the great things we've heard about the "V". Perhaps we'll give it another try on a weekend that is not so busy."

"There are actually two restaurants, the V Bistro and a quieter slightly more romantic dining room-both are outstanding. Not just outstanding for a small town in the Sierra foothills, but outstanding by San Francisco, LA, Chicago standards. In my opinion, it would be a mistake to visit Murphy's and not visit either the Bistro or V restaurant."

"My wife and I chose this restaurant for our wedding anniversary. Glad we did, we were both pleasantly surprised with excellent martinis, wine list, and the starters. The main courses that we both had were top notch. The V is a gourmet restaurant and well worth your time and money."

"the wait staff is amazing and very very very friendly, and they check up on you often to make sure you are enjoying everything. The V Restaurant fits many occasions as well. You can go there for a fancy dinner or you can go just to eat and hang out. I have gone there with my family for a "nice" dinner out, and I have gone by myself to eat, draw in my sketch book and drink some great wine. It's not a pretentious place either, everyone is super super nice and friendly (even if you are not a local). The food is amazing too. You can literally order anything and it will be awesome! I recommend the devils on horseback, swordfish, and Hatcher zin as a nice wine. They also make amazing desserts and cocktails too."

"Pricy at $150 (w/ tip)for two of us, although they had a special Valentine menu. On a busy holiday night, they were fine with us telling them at the last minute that we had a party of two instead of three. Last two times we had great seating, which is every table except the one we had this time. Hubby felt that portions were too small and for the price. They set the romantic tone by serving us champagne right away, an added touch. I liked the special Valentine menu. I was only unhappy with the seating, but grateful to get a reservation just two days before Valentine's Day! Will definately return, but with the girls! Hubby does love the Bistro! Noisy floor!"

"Great Valentines day menu! Perfect for a couple that wants to go out for a nice hassel free dinner on V-day. The V is tucked away in a cozy little spot on Main Street in Murphys. The food was delicious, steak, lobster tail, mash potatoes with gravey and asparagus (about $55 per plate). They gave us complimentary champagne and she got a red rose. They servers were friendly and attentive. Overall for dinner, deserts, appetizers, salad, wine, tax and tip it was just under $140. Totally worth the money for an amazing dinner. I would give them an A++ rating."

"My husband and I enjoyed a fabulous dinner. We started the meal with some truffle parmesan fries, as a main course I had the lamb chops cocked to perfection in an balsamic red wine reduction with mixed rice and vegetables. My husband enjoyed the smoked pork chops with creamy potatoes, feigns and and aspagus. We skipped the desert even thou it looked very tempting.
The service was first class and the server was very knowledgable about the wine list.
Next time we are in Murphy we will come back for another dining experience."
