MetroPrime Steakhouse
Located at the heart of Birmingham in Historic Five Points South, MetroPrime Steakhouse is Birmingham's only local prime steakhouse. The menu features a unique selection of prime, bone-in and dry-aged steak options. Every steak is hand cut in house and seared under an 1800-degree specialty broiler. The menu is rounded out by a house ground prime burger, fresh seafood offerings and inventive steak house sides. The expansive bar area offers a more casual dining experience. The bar features handcrafted cocktails, eighteen specialty beers on tap and an extensive wine by the glass list. The bar at MetroPrime Steakhouse is a great place to catch a game or to meet friends after work.

"I came here looking for a fine dining experience, and what I got was an experience similar to what you'd find in a place like Outback. Our server, Ian, was nice but the service was very, very slow. The steaks came out hardly warm and not cooked correctly, and we had to be subjected to watching the manager argue with another patron who was dissatisfied with the food and service he had received. I paid just under $180 for an upscale dinner for two at a supposed high end establishment. Given the state of the food when it finally reached the table, and the service despite they very polite and best efforts of the server, I would have expected to spend half of what I did."

"We ate at MetroPrime midweek. After making a reservation and giving online and verbal instructions that we were celebrating a birthday, neither the server or host mentioned it. The steaks and appetizer were good, but the bread, side dishes and salads were ordinary and the traditional sauteed broccoli was inedible. Overall, the experience was just ok. I really hoped for more when choosing a restaurant for a celebratory event."

"The service was awful, server did not know the menu nor had the diners best interest at heart. Service was slow and of poor quality. Wine pour was less than a glassfull. Scallops were prepared properly but too small for a portion of 3 at high end steakhouse. They should have been larger and of better quality. We also ordered the Delmonico, which was supposed to have been dry aged. Steak was tough and over seasoned with salt. I have had a better steak at Outback!!"

"Four of us for dinner after the Talladega race. We should have known when we walked in. 7 pm and only one table occupied. I had a $39 filet that was not fit to eat. Sent it back once and the second time it came back it was no better. My friend's prime rib had a horrible taste and was not edible. Bone in filet was good."

"I heard this place was pretty good so I decided to have dinner where while in B'ham. When I arrived at the hostess this guy just stood there looking at me...no greeting, no "may I help you". After a few moments I said and told him I was here for dinner. Duh! Strike 1! At woman came by and they began discussing which table to seat me. After that discussion he just walked away. Didn't say a word. I wasn't sure if went to do something else and she was going to seat me or he was taking me to a table. Poor service! Well, I took a chance and chased him down and got a table. "We went for our first time this weekend and the food and service were simply amazing. The steaks were cook perfectly and the bacon lollipops were sinful. Was it expensive? Yes. Was it worth it? Yes! The prices were on par with many other premium steak houses I have been to. Any complaint about the price is becaue they either did not do their homework or does not understand what a true steakhouse is. I highly recommend this place for a special occasion or even just a nice romantic date night."

"I took my wife to MetroPrime for her birthday. It was one of the better dining experiences we have had together! We arrived to have the door opened for us and were greeted nicely and excitedly. We were seated quickly and our server introduced himself. He was fantastic all night and he (along with the rest of the staff) seemed genuinely happy to serve us and seemed proud of their menu and restaurant. Our food was fantastic and the service was top notch."

"When we arrived at Friday at 8 PM, we were shocked by the minimal crowd. We were seated at a table with a great view of the surrounding Five Points Area. Our server was extremely nice, but the quality of service was more casual than you would expect for this price tag. Our favorite items were the cocktails and the appetizers. We shared crab claws & calamari which were superb. As far as the entrees, we both thought they were just okay. Overall, there was nothing to complain about, but when spending this type of money, there was nothing to rave about either."

"This was our second time going here, and we fell I'm love with it the first time but were very disappointed the second time. "We had a reservation.seated in the bar area without being asked if it was ok. We ordered our meal and drinks. about 15 minutes later we were told that they were out of potatoes. We asked to subistitute for Mushrooms Rissoto and they said there wold be an upcharge.
They were going to upcharge us for replacing a side they were out of!
We went ahead and ordered the rissoto. 40 mins later our waitress came back and said they were backed up in the kitchen and they we no longer seating guests because of it and she was going to buy us a round of drinks to apologize.
25 mins later our meal came out and wereceived a small portion of potatoes. We asked if that was a full portion and she said "No, its much smaller but I bought you drinks""

"Our server was friendly. My major complaint is that it took 30-40 mins for the food to come although the restaurant was not packed. When it did come, the steak I had ordered medium came out well done. It had taken so long I didn't bother to bring it to the attention of the server. I don't plan on returning."

"The bad - Special steak price - should have checked what mkt price was b/c $62 was a shock. and wine by glass was expensive $12-20 ea. The good - caesar salad with fried capers, steaks , twice baked potato, peanut butter crunch desert, server Stephen. Some people said that the steaks were expensive however all steaks include a salad and a side unlike other "Steakhouses" where the salads and sides are ala carte.

"Unfortunately, my experience at MetroPrime Steakhouse was not very good. The restaurant wasn't crowded at all; however, the service was extremely slow. At one point we made a comment to our server about how long it took to get our food and the server kind of snapped at us and the rest of our dinner was greeted by our server not speaking to us in a friendly manner. If I was alone dining I might give MetroPrime another chance; however, I had clients with me and I was so embarrassed about the entire restaurant experience. Also, the food was not very good when we did finally show up. I would definitely not recommend MetroPrime to anyone else."

"I enjoyed the ambiance and I was server was outstanding!!! However, we really did not enjoy our meal. I had the Lobster Risotto and he had the Crab Cakes. The food was appealing to the eyes but lacked in flavor. I must say the White Chocolate Bread Pudding was outstanding!!"
