At Jimmy G's, the evolution and sophistication is provided by an Art Nouveau meets "Mad Men" design style with black granite floors, red wood paneling with large black and white framed portraits. Steel arc lamps reinforce the modern, mid-century aesthetic. Maintaining the existing layout, the space is divided into three interconnection sections: the lounge bar, a central dining room, and two private dining/banquet areas. Guests enter from the street, down a mysterious stairwell through an arched entry way into the restaurant. In the main dining room, shades of yellow dominate, with mustard seat cushions on white lattice backed chairs. Additional seating in the form of elevated U-shaped booths are great for watching all the excitement of the dining room.
"This is the first time I have every gone out of my way to post a review and I have no plans to do so in the future. This should explain the night we had at Jimmy Gs. Everything was excellent from start to finish. Staff Great! Jimmy Great! Apps, salads, Steaks even Better! I have been all over Cincinnati to just about all restaurants (All of Ruby’s). Mr. Ruby lost out when Jimmy moved on to open a new place. I did not know he came from Ruby’s organization until my wife told me who he was and we have watched him on the Food Network. Don’t miss out. Louie in Cincinnati."

"We loved the food and out waiter was great. The griddles were incredible and the Shrimp were huge. We were so interested in how Jimmy prepared these dishes. We own 150 restaurants throughout the region, so we were excited to talk with Jimmy and watched him stop and talk at every single table... But ours! Then we had to run to catch the show across the street."

"Tucked away in a basement on Elm St. this restaurant is a food lovers dream. We had a lovely dinner that included Caesar salads, lamb, mashed potatoes, and creme brulee. Who would have thought mashed potatoes could be so good. The attention to flavor in every bite makes me want to come back ASAP. Only next time I will be there for the live music on the weekend!"

"Unfortunately, there aren't enough characters in this text box for me to say just how disappointed we were with our experience. The $58 "special reserve" steak was incorrectly prepared the first time, incorrectly prepared the second time, and then they took attempt #2 and just cooked it further, creating a charred piece of horridness that ten days later is still somewhat a taste in my mouth. We won't be back and I wouldn't suggest you go the first time. See my tripadvisor review for the complete details."

"Overall, the food quality we excellent. The best part of the meal was the burger, yes, that's correct. The Burger. The Steak was prepared well, just no seasoning and for pepper steak you would expect more. The sides were okay, not outstanding. Mashed taters with a tad too much butter. The mac and cheese was okay, not outstanding. The Blue Chesse was 200% awesome. Our waitress seemed a bit impersonal and we felt hurried.
Overall a decent value and if the steak was seasoned and the taters we less buttery, it would have been outstanding."

"My wife and I have not had a more enjoyable dining experience in terms of food quality, presentation and overall taste. The service was good although our server did not know as much about the menu as she should have given the variety of flavors/combinations. Our appetizer choice was the seasonal crab cake. The curry aoli and carrot were deliicous and complimented the cake. Dinner consisted of a steak salad and yellowfin tuna steak w/ red wasabi & mushrooms. Both were excellent. A side of Mac & Cheese was rich and tasty.
This is a great find. I will be back to try more items out on their menu."

"Conveniently located near the convention center and downtown hotels. Doesn't look like much from the outside street level entrance, but the ambiance was actually very pleasant, and the decor was quite nice. The menu offers a fairly diverse array of seafood and meat dishes, but mot many options for true vegetarians. The food was delicious and our waiter made a very good wine recommendation. Overall it was a very enjoyable experience and I would go back there again."

"Another notable visit to Jimmy G's. Enjoyed the 10 oz filet and the short rib feature that evening. The short rib was stellar. Our server knew the menu and was very attentive."

"Comparatively over-priced. The cost is out of sync with the quality of the experience. The food was good, but there are many choices in Cincinnati for better food, ambiance, and service at similar prices (e.g. Boca, Eddie Merlot's, Embers etc.) and some with better food, service, and ambiance at cheaper prices (e.g. 20 Brix)."

"We were greeting warmly and seated promptly. We had very early reservations. Our service was exceptional. And very notably the manager cruised the dining room often to check on patrons. I made a special request and it was taken care of with no problems. The food was wonderful."

"Wow, the food was amazing. The service was spactacular. If you are a steak person, this is for you. Let me give you a piece of advice. Google Jimmy Gibson cooks a steak. Find the you tube video of Jimmy G. Cooking a steak the way he does it. Then experience it for yourself. Mmmmmm... At the end Jimmy G. Came to the table and thanked us personally for choosing his restraunt. What a wonderful experience. You have a customer for life friend.."

"Jimmy G's was quite a pleasant surprise. We ate there late at night after a show at the Aronoff. The service from the hostess to the manager JD, to our server Nicholas was second to none. The meal was probably the best I have had in the city. Everything was spectacular and innovative. There was a two man band in there that night and they were incredibly fun. Excellent atmosphere and decor. A real gem! We will be back and we have already told many we know about this great place. Thanks."

"Sat at the bar with a lady friend and live band playing, everything was spot on. My New York strip was grilled to perfection complemented by wood grilled asparagus which had an orange vinaigrette I would probably put on ANYTHING. Service at the bar was great, very impressed with the wine list and I will be returning very soon to try more of Jimmy's incredible food!"

"We very much enjoyed our experience. The only negative was that it took a VERY long time to get a glass of wine. After our appetizer, my husband ordered a glass of wine to have with his dinner and the wine didn't show up until he was almost finished eating his entree. It shouldn't take that long to pour and serve a glass of wine."

"The food was great, but the service was not where I was expecting it to be. There was no parking due to beerfest-- the restaurant vallet was full! We had to drive around to find a lot, park at the very top, and then we got lost trying to get back to street level. I complained to the hostess, and she said the manager would be coming by to see us about it. He never showed up, but walked by us several times, we did get our appetizer on the house, but our glasses were lip-stained, the waiter didn't pour my wine from the 1/2 bottle glass into my individual glass, and our food came out at the same time as our bread basket and while we were still eating our appetizer. Too rushed! I'll stick to Jeff Rubys for special dinners from now on."

He was very friendly and even bought us dessert!! It was a very pleasant experience for me and my wife and we will definitely be returning!"

"This was our second visit and again was superb! The staff is always friendly and attentive and the food amazing. My husband had the bone in ribeye (again since he had it at our last visit and couldnt stop talking about it) and was not disappointed - excellent! I had the sea scallops and they were absolutely delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant."

"The service was amazing, our waiter and the manager were very friendly and very professional yet casual. We were very impressed with the service as well as the food and wine list. The filet that my husband had was "maybe the best steak" he's ever had which is big coming from him as he has been to many great steak houses in the country. We were very pleased and will definitely be coming back soon. We recommend Jimmy G's to all of our friends."

"The food was spectacular! I had their house salad and ribeye filet which was the best steak I have ever had. Jimmy G's salad was perfectly light and crisp. My entree exploded with flavor and perfectly tender to cut. My date had the dry aged new york strip and was extremely pleased as well. We shared asparagus and potatoes aligot which were both excellent too. We finished our meal with chocolate pate and coffee. The dessert was not too sweet or heavy; it was like a light brownie providing enough sweetness to end the meal. I previously believed nothing compared to Jeff Ruby's until now. Jimmy G's has replaced JR in my book."
