Alma Cocina introduces Atlanta to a refreshing new approach to modern Mexican cuisine. Bright, fresh ingredients and traditional regional influences come together with other Latin American flavors in a variety of vibrant fresh dishes. We also feature the most unique tequila selections and a host of innovative Latin-influenced cocktails beyond a superior margarita.
We are open for lunch and dinner 7 days a week and are positioned perfectly for downtown corporate and social group and private dining.
Alma is operated by Fifth Group Restaurants, owners of Atlanta favorites South City Kitchen Midtown, South City Kitchen Vinings, La Tavola, Ecco, El Taco, Lure and Bold American Events.
"Alma Cocina is in downtown Atlanta so I only go there for lunch. Their new $10 lunch menu is great. Quick, good food and service and the price includes tea or soda. Great improvement."

"We went for my wife's birthday. I had noted the occasion on my opentable reservation. Not disappointed! The food was amazing and the server was very knowledgeable about the menu. What still makes me dream, though, are the churros and the tres leches coconut cake. The latter was brought out by the server without me even asking. One of the best meals I've ever had in Atlanta."

"The service was outstanding. The drinks were very good. The food was good but there were some misses. The crispy pork belly had absolutely no crispness. The empanadas were very good - crispy with a nice filling. The sea bass ceviche was average."

"Was in Atlanta for a business trip and picked out this as a place to go due to interesting menu. It is a true gem, outstanding in every way. Nice ambience, supurb service and great food! Know people do not belive everything can be so good so I will mention the only fllaw. Menu print is really small and a bit hard to read, had to ask the super friendly service personel a lot of questions, got me a couple of sauce samples so do not be shy ..... bring you glasses!"

"Had friends in from out of town staying at the Westin so chose this nearby spot? They loved the food and the prices for a downtown restaurant. Our server was delightful and really sold us on the food. The white shrimp huaraches were delicious but the fried avocado taco was the best. Also enjoyed the trio of salsas and plantain chips. Will be back!"

"What a treat to find a great Latin American restaurant in Atlanta. I live in So Cal and have dined well in NYC and "Alma Cocina" stands up with the best of them. My husband and I started with the Roasted Corn Guacamole and asked for the chipotle on the side. We could add enough for our enjoyment. A great start to our meal. Then we shared the Carnitas Tacos and the Chicken Mole Huaraches. Both excellent. At the suggestion of our waiter we ordered the Elotes. It's a must have!!
If we could've eaten more, we would have!"

"Went to Alma Cocina for my husband's birthday: I had mentioned it on the phone, and at least three staff members wished him happy birthday before we even sat down. Service was swift, warm and helpful with the menu. The food was flavorful, came out quickly and presented beautifully. All in all an excellent experience."

"While visiting Atlanta for a conference, I was tasked with dinner reservations for an important client. I recalled seeing Alma Cocina briefly in a quick search for close-by restaurants. The review could have not been more spot on! The food was clearly "fresh" Mexican with an upscale flare. The menu selections were varied enough to please everyone and the drink selection equally. The service was outstanding! I have already recommended it to other locals."

"Saw that they were listed in USAToday's top 10 restuarants in the country - wanted to check it out. Had 2 vegetarians in the group and they had plenty of options. Apps - tried the salsa trio - the avocado/tomatillo was the best of the three. Guacamole was very creamy -mild flavor Vegetarian empanadas were very good Roasted corn side was very tasty with the garlic aoili basted on it
Entrees - Avocado Taquitos excellent Vegetarian platter with the mushroom enchilada-excellent Wagyu briskett Mole enchiladas very good - pumpkin seed salsa added nice texture
Drinks - can't remember all of the names - blood orange margarita and the margarita with their own sourced tequila both excllent. Sangria was just ok
Overall- worth going!"

"Starting with the Skinny Margarita was an excellent choice. Didn't even miss whatever was taken out. The vegetarian plate was wonderful. And, the new guacamole with corn and adobo is worth trying to duplicate at home. The restaurant is lively and the friendly service made our diner very enjoyable"

"Lunch prices are rather expensive. $8-$10 for 2 tacos and a little rice and beans. Since when does a 1/4 of salsa and some tortilla chips cost $7! That was the bigger shock. Maybe I'm just cheap."

"Enjoyed the informal ambiance and variety of food items. Wait staff was very informative about informing us of our choices, as we arrived well after normal lunch hour and certainly prior to dinner. Prior reservation had secured us a booth near the door so that we could spot our friends when they arrived; perfect."

"When ordering, I told the waiter I did not want anything hot and spicy. He said the goat was not spicy and would put the hot sauce on the side. The goat was actually extremely spicy and could not eat the one bite without breaking out in a sweat. I could have been eating any type meat for all it mattered, all you could taste was hot sauce. The salad was the same way. i ordered a replacement vegetarian dish with 3 items. One was edible but very plain and ordinary. One was a big ball of hard corn meal and cold. The other was so hot I could not eat it. I would definately avoid this place. The waiter has apparently never tasted the food and is infamiliar with it. And the food was nothing to write home about."

"This was a great place for a large group. We were able to sit at a large table together in the atrium next to the restaurant. Guacamole apps were both excellent. Everyone at the table enjoyed their food, including the pork carnitas and chicken mole huaraches."

"The menu looked so good that we couldn't decide which items to get. 4 of us got several items and shared some. The buttternut squash guac was good. The house margs are good, but $12ea. We liked the mole and the chicken tinga. The rest was disappointing. The vegetarian platter lacked flavor if you didn't use the sauce. The tamale on the plate was pretty much all corn masa. The pork carnitas lacked flavor. The one I make at home is MUCH better. The pork tibil tamale also lacked flavor. The sea bass ceviche was much better without all of the avocado mousse on the bottom that was recommended to mix in. The service was decent, but I would have prefered that she give us more time to review the menu. For the price, we didn't think it was worth it."

"Excellent upscale Latin/Mexican food. Waiter was very knowledgeable and helped us pick a perfect dinner for this Vegan and her Meatasaurus husband. The service was outstanding. We never waited for anything and management checked on us two or three times to make sure we were happy. Romantic and dark, but not too dark. I highly recommend this restaurant!"

"Fifth Group always does a very nice job, so we had high hopes for Alma. While the atmosphere, service and drinks were terrific, the food fell flat. My shrimp hurache entree was bland and my wife's chicken mole was gamey. I am hopeful we chose our entrees poorly - we will go back to try it one more time."

"I've been to Alma Cocina twice and have received exceptional service, incredible food, and delectable cocktails each time. It's a bit of a hidden gem, right off of Peachtree Street, downtown. It's a cool, sexy vibe. Everything I've tried had been delicious. I'm super impressed by how awesome this place is. You just can't go wrong. I will continue to dine here. Get a "cube" for dessert, or prior, so you can let it melt down into slush form. :-)"

"I really like this restaurant and have been to it numerous times. I ordered something new to try it and would NEVER order it again. The chicken sandwich was awful. It came on soggy white bread. I had to use a fork and knife to eat it. The sauce that surrounded it was bland and boring. Overall a tasteless choice. In the sandwich department I'd suggest skipping them, I've had the two other choices and both were boring. Everything else on the menu I've had was great...just not the sandwiches."

"This place was not awful, but I have no desire to go back. We went with a group of girls on a Friday night before going out and the place was empty. The guacamole was decent, but our entrees were sub par at best. Two of us got the fried avocado tacos (at the recommendation of our server), and while they at first seemed decent, we had trouble stomaching more than a few bites. The rest of our party ordered various appetizers and side dishes to share, none of which were particularly unique or tasty. Overall, this place is way too overpriced for what you get. We all were frustrated with having to pay $40 a person for a meal that would have been half as expensive and ten times better at any number of similar places."

"I took my friend to this restaurant for his birthday. The service was excellent. I was very happy that they paid for parking I ordered a shrimp dish with greens and a red sauce and a side of corn on the cob. The entre was very salty, but the corn was excellent. I returned the entre' and ate the corn and had icecream for dessert which was very good. It had a unique flavor. For my drink I ordered the "Keep You Head Down" it was Bourbon based and my date and I both loved it. It had a real kick and was not watered down at all. Besides my entre I wold recommend giving the restaurant a visit and in time I will revisit since the service was good and they were very polite and removed the entre from my bill."

"All around a great dining experience. Our waitress was super. She knew the menu well and was able to answer all our questions. The service was excellent. The food was served very quickly and was fresh and hot. It was all prepared from scratch from fresh ingredients. There are some good options on the menu for vegetarians too. There are lots of intimate tables for small groups up to six and a very nice bar. Prices were good for downtown compared to other places. Entrees were $9-$17. Skip the competition and visit Alma Cocina when you come to downtown Atlanta. I would highly recommend it."

"Attentive wait staff. I noted on my reservation booked through opentable that our party of 6 would prefer a round table and that we were celebrating a baby shower for a co-worker. Our round table of 6 was granted and our mom-to-be recieved a special desert on the house which was a surprise and very much appreciated. The guacamole was good and everyone seemed to like their dishes. My carnitas tacos were very tasty, but hard to eat. With so much juice/sauce, the taco became quite soggy and I ended up eating with knife and fork. Next time, I'll select something new to try. I will definitely add Alma Cocina to my list of lunch spots since I work in 191."

"My boyfriend and I went to Alma Cocina for our belated Valentine's dinner. It has a romantic feel to it. If you get one of the booths in the back area it's like you are all alone. The ambiance is great. The food was delicious, especially the pork belly, corvina sea bass lime with tortilla chips, roasted chicken mole oaxaca and elotes. We will return for another romantic evening soon. Bo was totally awesome. All of his food recommendations were fantastic. You could tell he knew his stuff. He had great customer service skills. People person for sure! I love to go out to eat and have a waitress/waiter that knows best food items and has a friendly personality. It makes the meal so much better. Thanks Bo!"

"Great Place to dine. Very intimate, and well designed. Food was excellent. Only quip I had was that the waittress wasnt that attentive. She messed up our appetizer, when i asked for habenero and cilantro, she gave us pineapple. Bad mistake. But overall I recommend Alma Cocina."
