"Wonderful experience here! We had a small group of 8 and were seated in a semi private room. Our Waiter Paul walked us through every point on the menu. The food is also top quality. Although we all enjoyed the steak there were many options available the sides were delicious. The presentation of Steak Diane is wonderful! We all enjoyed dinner so much there was no room for dessert . We didn't want to leave we enjoyed it so much.
We normally go into downtown area for dinner but this is an excellent alternative . It's a very convenient location for the western suburbs. I will definitely be back."

"Food was good-service was terrible. We had a reservation and still had to wait 20 minutes to be seated. After being seated it took 1/2 hour to get a drink. When dining out, service is almost as important as the food quality. Very disappointed."

"Our reservation was at 7:30. We were seated at 9 and received our first food, the bread at 9:15. At this point we were about ready to grab our forks and start eating off of someone else's plate. The average age of the other diners was about 70 and we felt completely out of sorts. We will never dine there again or go with our friends since it seems like you need to be AARP eligible. Too bad."

"I took my mom for Mother's Day to Eddie Merlot and she truly enjoyed her Mother's Day dinner. My mom is a tough food critic and if she gives two thumbs up you know you are on the right tractk. The food was seasoned just right. Please keep the chef happy. And the brownie dessert with vanilla bean ice cream was a chocoholic dream."

"Made 7:30 reservations and got seated at 8:40 in the lounge where it was excessively loud. No special comments or anything for our anniversary which was made clear in our reservation. We were served 2 meals. Meatloaf was outstanding and the steak was too grisly and fatty to enjoy for $41. And why a restaurant would use instant potatoes to serve with lobster is, well, unexcusable. A gift certificate took us there. Our money will never take us back. Too bad because their bartenders were excellent!"

"We tried an appetizer (crab cakes), two entrees (Burgundy beef and sea scallops), and a dessert (a cognac-vanilla brownie) so I think we gave it a good try. Total bill (with 2 beers and a coke) was $130 before tip. The food was very average. We are decent cooks and our own Burgundy beef is much superior, while our daughters make much superior brownies. We will not be returning."

"my nephew, (just graduated from college), my husband and i got together here for dinner. our choice couldn't have been more perfect! our waitress was awesome and so helpful for everything, including asking the chef about a couple of items to determine if they were gluten-free. "Service was good up until the point we were fed. Once the food was on the table, we ate and finished our drinks and waters and our server did not come back for over a half hour. Our drink glasses were empty for about 20 minutes without a busboy refilling our water or or server asking if I wanted another drink, and my half-eaten steak sat in front of me for 20 minutes before anyone asked if I wanted it boxed... awful. The food was delicious though, just poor service... which is sad considering this restaurant is supposed to offer fine dining."

The stuffed shrimp were excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed the Truffle Fries. The Cabernet was just right. We bought into their loyalty program and so we will be going back fairly often."

"The food was excellent, but as I've noticed with other customer reviews, they didn't have our table ready until 30 minutes after our reservation time. Their approach seems to be to divert customers into the bar so they will spend money on drinks. The bartender pointed out the drink specials when we sat down at the bar but when he returned to take our drink order, he then announced that happy hour had ended and refused to give us the lower price. Not a huge deal, but overall, their customer service is not up to par with other similar restaurants in the area."

"Finally the Burr Ridge and burbs south of Oak Brook have a quality steakhouse. The steaks are aged and prime and excellently prepared. The price is what you would expect to pay in any steakhouse with prime aged beef. There is also a nice selection of seafood for those that would prefer something other than steak. The list of wines by the glass is very impressive, as is the wine by the bottle list. The wine list breaks down the wines by color and intensity, very clever. The dining room is very nicely appointed and features the glass inclosed wine room with the wine racks going from the floor an up to the hight of a second floor. The service was impeccable and very attentive, but then again it was a slow night."

"I was pleasantly surprised by Eddie Merlot's. We had a gift card and that's why we decided to try the restaurant. The food was excellent, the wine just a good. "Eddie Merlot's is excellent! We started with the Sweet and Spicy Rock Shrimp, which was excellent. I had the 30 Day Dry-aged Ribeye Steak with a side of sauteed spinach, while my lady had the New Orleans Mixed Grill, and all of it was cooked to perfection. The drinks were outstanding, as well. I dine out a lot, as you see with my top 50 contributor rating, and I'm telling you, this is a top notch restaurant. I've been to Gibson's, Joe's, N9NE, Morton's, and Mastro's, and Eddie Merlot's can compete easily with all of those restaurants. Trust me, go to this restaurant. You will not regret it."

"Eddie Merlot's quickly became our favorite 'Steak House' in the Chicago Metro area. Ambiance is excellent, our server was friendly and provided excellent service. Both their main entrees and their side orders were served elegantly and were fantastic. Diners need to try the Mac and Cheese and the Tempura Green Beans - both were real treats. This is a restaurant that we will definitely visit many times."

"Wife's beef bourgnion was served over garlic mashed potatoes and the sauce was garlicky, not mentioned in the menu. She can't stand garlic. Restaurant was excellent about removing the potatoes and re-serving, and when it was still too much garlic, they voluntarily removed it from the bill. The Eddie Merlot Chardonnay was, as always, outstanding for the price."

"The food is very good. The service wasn't that good. The waiter never came by to ask us if the food was to our liking. He also made two errors on our bill.
The waiter wasn't available to fix our bill so we had to get a manager to fix both issues.
The room is too noisy when it has patrons. You might want to invest in some noise absorbers. The walls are all arranged to bounce the noise all over the place. Some absorber material on the walls and ceiling would make for a less noisy room."

"Overall our visit was Fair. The portions are large, yet on some selections everything is al a carte. I don't like when your leftovers are taken in the back to be wrapped. Two people at our table had ordered the same dish and we both had leftovers. Since all the plates were taken away at the same time it would have been easy to mix up our doggy bags, which is what appears to have happened. I much prefer to have my plate wrapped in front of me rather than back in the kitchen. The prices are decent on some items and high on others. In some cases overpriced. The best thing I can say is the padded barrel chairs are very comfortable."

"Overall very good. My wife wanted seafood, so we ordered from the more reasonably priced "right side" that has entrees including vegetable. Food was excellent.
Restaurant was crowded and noisy. Despite this, staff worked very, very hard to provide good service.
I will go back to try the steaks, when I can share sides. Steaks are a la carte and very pricey."

"Still one of our favorites. Got there early, so had a drink in the bar. Although the bar was crowded our bartender was attentive and personable. Were seated when at the time our reservations were made for. We ordered filets, brussel sprouts, and hash browns, along with 2 salads. Steaks were done perfectly; brussel sprouts were a little too el dente for my husband, but I liked them. Had a nice bottle of Cabernet, which our server recommended. Service was excellent. LOVE the pressed coffee with whipped cream and mini chocolate chips. Definitely our go to for special occasions."

"The spinach salad is the best salad I've ever tasted. Crab cakes did not have the lump meat I remember from last time. Salmon was delicious and buttery. tempura green beans were yummy with a delicious sauce .. sauce was very good with the salmon .. I would suggest serving the salmon with that honey mustard and horseradish sauce on the side .. all in all, a wonderful meal with good service."
