"My daughter and I went for Mothers Day evening when she got off work (I was in Houston to help her move there that weekend). Our reservation was at 7 p.m. We were seated too close to the wait station. There was a large table in the center of the room with a very unruly child running around with a butter knife that he pretended was his sword.
We each ordered a glass of wine and a cup of clam chowder to start. Both were brought right away and we ordered our dinner selection. Then we sat ... and sat ... I asked for some bread, as I saw other tables being served warm bread ... "oh, they didn't bring it earlier" was the response I received.
Our meals were good, but I spent $100 for a meal that was suppose to be special and we were disappointed."

"If you are willing to pay for top quality seafood then get here asap. Don't complain about price if that's your thing. 15 options for fresh oysters from around the globe and A+ seafood. Nice wine list and great service. Again, you pay a price for the quality and that's cool with me. Prepare yourself for a steep bill and be happy about it. Yes it's expensive so don't write a "overpriced" review. It just makes you look like an idiot for even coming here in the 1st place."

"The quality of food was very good (apart from the trout of my friend being cold). The service was in the other hand very bad.

"I have been to this restaurant many times. This past Saturday (5/04), however, it wasn't up to par. The waitstaff is always superb, but one gentleman was responsible for clearing/setting up tables and he was dashing around in hyper speed and constantly bumping in to chairs - hard. Oceanaire now seems to be following the trend of packing in tables instead of allowing for breathing / walking room. You could tell it was frustrating for the servers, as it was difficult to get people their food/drinks. Sit in the bar.
My husband's grilled salmon was perfect. I ordered the Mixed Seafood Platter; the only item not overcooked was the scallops. Toughest shrimp I've ever had. Must have been an off night. The mac & cheese is still da bomb!"

"We arrived at 6:55 for our 7:00 PM reservation. We were taken to a table for two and was not attended by a waiter until 7:25 PM and that was after I asked the water server for a waiter. The party at the table beside us arrived after us by about 10 minutes and was waited upon immediately. When I mentioned the tardiness to the waiter he ignored my comment and persisted regarding my order. When I ordered wine he did not go and get the wine but still asked for my dinner order although we were not ready to order. It was only after I told him to get the wine first that he left. The manager gave us appetizers on the house to assuage our displeasure but it still was not a pleasant experience especially for the price."

"Not our first visit at an Oceanaire restaurant; but this visit not up to par. Everything started out okay, but soon thereafter, our service dropped off considerably. The food selection is very good and quality is okay.
We had to ask for drinks, and our main course was late coming out and had become cool by the time it was served. Not up to par by no means.
And, when things start going downhill, they get worse and we had to get someone other than our server to get our check.
A very nice restaurant, but we will not go back to this one."

"From the minute we walked in to the time we walked out the door, we were treated like special guests. The hostess was kind and friendly, the waitstaff was outstanding and very accommodating. I was so impressed with everything and everyone. There was a wide selection pn fresh fish dishes to choose from. Food was outstanding! We will not only be visiting again but more often and with guests. Date night here with my husband was a perfect evening!"

"Everything was excellent. I met a friend there for dinner, and both of us were pleasantly pleased with the everything from the appetizer to the entrees, but DESSERT! Sweet goodness gracious. The bread pudding was recommended, and boy I almost kissed the chef for that recommendation. Now as a sophisticated southern belle with a very discerning taste for bread puddings, I wanted to pass on this one because I only eat my mommy's. Sorry mommy, but they have mastered the bread pudding, and they top it with BLUE BELL! I couldn't! Oh but I did! I am going back this weekend with the husband with the husband for our anniversary. I am excited!"

"This is our "go to" spot 100 miles from home on those few times a year when the kids are being watched and we can sneak down to Houston for 24 hrs of adult time. This is where we eat almost every trip for that romantic dinner.
We are treated first class even though we order wine by the glass from their decent selection.
We noticed that the staff actually reads the note attached to the online reservation and make it a a point of acknowledging us and the event (i.e. birthday, anniversary, new job...). Guests seem to be varied in their attire, we personally prefer to dress up for these date nights."

"We went for lunch at 2pm. The place had only three tables occupied, so we got stellar attention. The server was personable and provided excellent advice and service. The restaurant is in the Galleria Mall with huge windows facing Westheimer Road. Free parking available under the restaurant. Ambience is bright and clean. Extensive menu with large portions and equally large prices.Food is excellent."

"The Alaskan King Crab legs we ordered had the chalky consistency of seafood that had either been frozen for an extended period or seafood that had been thawed and re-frozen. The $60 per pound price was very steep for the quality of the dish. We also ordered a side dish of lobster risotto. This was very average."
