Scotto's Cafe
Scotto's Café is a privately owned and operated Italian restaurant featuring a European atmosphere in Bel Air, Maryland, the heart of Harford County. We offer generous portions of made-to-order Italian cuisine using only fresh, high quality ingredients at reasonable prices. Menu items include a wide variety of pasta, chicken, seafood, and veal and are gladly exchanged to suit diner's preferences and dietary needs. There is also a full-service bar with a fine selection of wine, spirits, domestic and imported beers. After dinner, guests may enjoy unique Italian desserts, espresso, or cappuccino. We also offer on and off-site catering and fixed menus for small or large parties are available. We will do our best to accommodate your specific needs.

"The dinner we had at Scottos was very good. We have had meals of very similiar quality at other local Italian Restaurants. The service was good and the waitress pleasant. The waiting area was very small. With our advance reservation made on-line we were seated within a few minutes. We asked for a quiet table for 4. The table was a bit small and other diners with children in the restaurant caused the table not to be as quiet as we liked. The ala carte menu was rather pricey and therefore we did not order appetizers, salads, sides or dessert. In reference to the homemade bread served with the meal- we have had much tastier bread at other restaurants. Music in the restaurant area would have been nice."

"Wow--what a find! A friend of mine who lives in Harford County recommended this excellent, family owned Italian restaurant. I'm really spoiled when it comes to Italian, having dined in Manhattan and Boston at some of the finest Italian restaurants. My husband and I had our Easter dinner at Scotto's, and it was great! The lobster ravioli appetizer and clams casino were very generous in size, fresh, and well-seasoned. I had the chicken Scotto, which featured two, very tender pieces of chicken with fresh asparagus and a delicate tomato sauce with mushrooms. For dessert, we requested an item that was not on the menu, but the chef was willing to accommodate us--it was a delightful goblet of zabione with bing cherries and marsala wine--yum!"

"We were looking for a restaurant between Baltimore and Havre de Grace, MD to meet relatives for Easter dinner. We settled on Scotto's Cafe after reading many positive reviews (on different review sites!). Although located in a shopping center with a so-so exterior, once inside we were pleased with the excellent hostess and wait staff service. They were *extremely attentive and very kind to us. We cannot say enough positive things about them. Further, all dishes were extremely well-done and delicious! From the Calamari Fritti to the Arugula salad to the outstanding Broccoli Chicken. We WILL be back with pleasure!"

"We have been going to Scotto's since 1992. Previously they didn't take reservations and I was happy to see that they joined Open Table. However, I made a reservation but we still had to wait in a long line of people who didn't have reservations. 45 minutes later they finally offered us a table for 4 where all of us faced the wall when there was a table just cleared right next to it. After the meal we explained the situation and all they did was take our name and said we would be given special treatment next time. To me that was a poor way of handling things because why should there be a next time? All that's doing is trying to get repeat business. Food was good, but the experience definitely overshadowed it."

"Our entrees were well prepared and very tasty. The field greens with goat cheese salad had a blueberry vinaigrette dressing , which did not work well with the flavor of the cheese and the dense heavy lettuce they chose for the salad. We found the noise level very high and the acoustics very odd ( it seemed sound travelled from across the lobby, but not so much from the next table). Even with a reservation we were seated along the main walkway and directly opposite the servers station despite the fact that the two table next to us, and further from the hubbub, remained empty the entire time. It is a shame that the good food cannot be enjoyed in a more hospitable environment."

"We live nearby and have been patrons for 20 years. It is one of our favorite restaurants and we've NEVER had a bad meal. My overall rating of "fair" is because it was the second time in the past year we had to wait 1 hour for our table (even though we booked our reservations on Open Table). Four entrees - one arrived chilled inside (lasagna) and another arrived 'kind of' warm (veal marsala).

"The food was terrific as it always is and the service was impeccable. The food is always freshly prepared and if you aren't in a pasta mood, they generally have steaks and fish as their specials. It is a tiny bit overpriced - I would recommend to Scotto's that they at least include a small salad with all of their entrees."
