"The overall experience at the Shaughnessy Restaurant was good. Did not care for being limited to one menu though, would have liked to have had the option of ordering from restaurant menu. Not much variety on Mother's Day menu for the price. One member of our party ordered coffee but the waitress did not ask if anyone else would like coffee, would have saved her a trip for a second cup! Would come back though for the opportunity to try the regular menu, and dining out on the deck with the garden view."

"Had a weekend brunch and enjoyed our food with great gusto ! Fresh baked blueberry scones for a start & coffee. The Seared Albacore Tuna Burgers with Pomme frites were excellent , very tasty ! Food was served on time and the Staff that were on that day were all friendly and helpful. Price very reasonable , we've been here before and we'll go back again."

"Lovely little restaurant that had a really different ambiance to it. The service though relaxed is still attentive and exceptional. Food is tasty and done well. "as a twosome, our experience was not great . we were seated too close to a large group of "energetic" women and had to ask to be moved as they were overpowering our ability to have a conversation. I believe it is necessary to be seated along the windows to avoid this problem. the maitre'd was good about moving us but I didn't feel I should have had to ask."

"This was my third return visit for lunch and it did not disappoint. My friend enjoyed the mussels immensely and I tried the prawn and scallop quesadilla which was a little heavy on the cheese but otherwise good. The restaurant was busy but the service was very good with plates being cleared promptly and dessert and coffe arriving quickly. Prices were reasonable. The location at Van Disen makes for a lovely walk after lunch. I will be certain to return again."

"This has become a favourite spot for myself and friends due to the above as well as parking is not a problem.
A suggestion would be to somehow bring down the noise level.
There was no floral arrangement in the entry way as well without the Gift Shop the area is very uninviting."

"Service was fair because we waited, and waited and waited to be served. We had to flag someone down to get service. She did apologize because they were busy. We were seated in the second room which was almost empty. The ambiance is lovely of course because the scenery is Van Dusen Gardens
The wooden table appeared clean but it was sticky.
The noise level was find because we were in the second room. The first room which was full, was too noisy to be able to enjoy talking to one another.
The food presentation was fine but the crab croissant was very dry."

"Shaughnessy restaurant fits the description "civilized" in that the entire operation seems to be efficient but not hurried. The wait staff are capable of intelligent conversation. It has (to use an old-fashioned word) "gentility", characteristic of some UK restaurants from "another time". This creates and ambiance that makes lunch feel like a special occasion each time we visit. We know of no other Vancouver restaurants with quite the same ambiance. The food is very good and service equally fine. Of course the proximity to the Van Dusen gardens adds greatly to the experience. This is a "must-go" location whenever we visit from Ontario."

"I was extraordinarily impressed with the service at Shaughnessy. Our waitress saw that I was breastfeeding my baby, and as a result my bowl of seafood chowder was sitting on the table, untouched and getting cold. She offered to take it away and bring me a fresh bowl of seafood chowder once I was done feeding my baby. I have been a mother for 8 months now and this was the first time ever that a restaurant server had been so thoughtful as to bring me fresh, hot food when they saw that I was unable to eat my food because I was busy feeding my baby. "This was a retirement luncheon for one of our long-time nurses. The maitre d' was kind enough to take a photo of us in the foyer which is definitely a keeper. The waiter brought one of our guests her doggy bag which would have been forgotten. Thank you for a memorable occasion. We'll be back. We are the German-Canadian Care Home at 2010 Harrison Drive, Vancouver, BC."

"I always enjoy this restaurant but the service was poor in my last visit. All was good except the waiter who served us was not polite in few questions I asked. It was a very quiet night yet sadly the waiter had poor mannerism ! This is a first for this restaurant. I will think twice about going again in the evening."

"This restaurant is a great place for bring dates to. The service is great and the taste of food is great. The serving size of the main course is large. The seafood chowder is one of the best that I have ever had. The only thing is the dinning hall smells like an old wood building, which it actually is."

"Although there appears to be enough waitresses, no one bothered to ask to have our coffee refilled. The salad was good but the crab croissant is nothing special. My daughter had the quesadilla, which I took a bite of, and that tasted better. When we were ready to pay, the waitresses were busy conversing with each other that it took the maitre d to notice us. Nice ambiance."

"All is well with the resturant, however, the prices are too high for the small amount of food served, e.g. a salad Nicoise with tuna was good but very small...So it is too expensive for the money paid. If the rent goes to Parks Board (i.e. the epople of Vancouver), we, the same people of Vsncouver deserve a lower rent to be paid to the waistful City Hall and more left for us. But, remember, the restaurant itself is great, it is the prices that make it all over to not so desirable and less frequented."

"We went to Shaughnessey for Dine Out Vancouver, and expected something pretty special given the location and neighbourhood. What we got was bland, tasteless food and laughably tiny portions, even by fine dining standards. My appetizer consisted of three pieces of ravioli (tiny ones, not the jumbo kind), and my main course was three Brussels sprouts and a small cup of vegetarian mush that was almost identical to something I regularly make at home in about 10 minutes (only mine actually tastes like something). My friend had four small pieces of pork shoulder as an entree, and she said it was nothing to write home about. However, the $20 wine flight offered was fairly good value. We're small women, but we left hungry."

"The four of us enjoyed the Dine-Out menu, sampling each others choices as appropriate. Every item ordered was very good, both in terms of quality of the food and the presentation. The wine pairings with each course were good, went well with the specific food items/courses, and were cost-effective. Service, from start to finish, was very professional and pleasant.
Note: To me "very good" is a high rating ... I just am not a person who uses "Outstanding" as a description."
