The owners of Tapeo & Solea bring a modern Spanish tapas restaurant to Kendall Square. Named and inspired after Spanish director Pedro Almodovar's hit movie, Kika, the bright interior and retro design offer a unique and eccentric way of dining on tapas and sipping on homemade sangria in a glowing environment.
"It was my girlfriends birthday and all I have to say is thank you to Kika Tapas. Cooks did a wonderful job with the food which all had a great presentation, and even a better taste. Our server Talia though is who made the night. She was fantastic. Everything was perfected, greated table within the 30 seconds, gave us great suggestions and not simply based on price to raise the bill which is what a typical server would do. She guided us through the menu, and always smiled and was very kind just made our night absolutly great. I would definatly be back for the food and for the great service that we have received! thank you."

"I have dined at this restaurant multiple timmes. It has become my preferred place to have lunch with colleagues and business associates. It is just off third Street in Cambridge and much less crowded than its neighbors. The food is good. Service is excellent. Seating comfortable and it is possible to hold a conversation."

"Kika is pretty good but this time it was a bit of a let down. Food portions were noticabally small and our waiter was not attentive at all. I would not recommend this restaurant based on my experience today"

"We love this section of Kendall Square that includes Kika Tapas, Evoo and Za. It was not too crowded on a Thursday night. The interior is hip and open- a clean fusion of retro and modern. All the small plates we tried were delicious including the Tortilla Española, Broccoli & Cauliflower Fritters, Scallops in Saffron Cream, Sautéed Shrimp, Asparagus, Whipped Eggs, Fried Bread, and Lamb Meatballs in Truffle Cream Sauce. It all washed down nicely with free-flowing sangria. We finished with an unexpectedly great dessert: Tres Leches cake with mango. The cake was dense and deliciously saturated with the mango-infused tres leches sauce. Wow! Looking forward to returning in the summer and enjoying tapas and sangria at Kika's outdoor seating."

"We came with 4 NU rowers & families - so food was important! Enough variety for the picky as well as adventurous (Octopus was both a hit and a miss - perfect!)"

"The panko crusted salmon with spinach is exceptional! Plus the Length of Passion cocktail with gin and Drambuie... delicious. Our server was enthusiastic and gave great recommendations."

"The food was good and I love the ambience, but the service was so, so slow. It's tapas, so we wanted to order some, get them, order a few more, etc. The waiter didn't seem to understand this, he kept forgetting what we ordered, and would leave us for half an hour with only one little plate on our table. It was frustrating. The food is good, though!"

"I took some friends there for dinner last Saturday. I read the reviews and they were pretty mixed but I want to give it a try. The restaurant is very understaffed, one waitress for 12 tables. The whole dinner took 3 hours where as at most restaurant would only take 2 hours. Basically, we spent two hours waiting for the food. The services was pretty bad, we asked the waitress three times for more bread and never got it and finally asked the hostess to bring it to us. There two of the tapas never arrived but the waitress insisted that they were all brought out. I do think that the food is pretty nice but it is just not worth waiting for the food all evening."

"This is one of the better tapas places I've been to and the food has generally been very good. The service has been hit or miss. I used to work in the area and frequented them every few weeks for lunch. I've also done dinner a few times. I would recommend getting everything to share except for the razilian crusty cheese bread. I'd highly recommend getting an order for each person at the table. 3 pieces is not nearly enough for a table. Fairly causal as well, so no need to dress up and limit your choices for the rest of the evening."

"If you enjoy a Tapas style meal then Kika will not disappoint. If it reminds you of Dali, Tapeo or Solea there is a good reason. Kika is owned/run by the same family.
Wonderful food, attentive staff, varied wine list and a great dining experience."

"Like most Americans, I like to think I know more about tapas than I actually do, but even in my ignorance I have to say that this place (and Tapeo on Newberry) feel like tourist traps: uninspiring dishes, small portions, cookie-cutter menu items. And the sangria prices are simply criminal! The service feels like a work in progress, too. But the house wine, a crianza, was tasty!"

"We went here for valentines day and were very impressed. I had gone to Solea and really enjoyed and and was jhappy to see that the two restaurants were very similar in the food but varied in the decor and ambiance. We had such a great evening!"
